That makes Matas Cimbolas the overnight chip leader. For those of you who think that name rings a bell, he won the High Roller earlier in the week AND he won the £3k WPT Nottingham last November.

Think we can make early use of this picture:

That's the man they're all looking to catch. See you in just under 2 hours...

Bit busy right now, but need to tell you that Doobs sent me £100 to pass on to Tighty, which I have now done, by way of a "thank you" to Tighty for going above & beyond the call of duty.

This is not a suggestion that others should follow suit.

Tighty receives a fee from Sky Poker for updating on Sky Poker.com, & general assistance at the venue with daily reports & Press Releases.

He receives no "additional" fee from, blonde for updating, but the money DTD pay blonde goes straight to Tighty as his "wage". It's not much, but it is something.

Tighty has been a bit under the cosh this week, what with this & that, so the gesture from Doobs was very much appreciated.

Enjoy the rest of the Update, been fun so far, but too many players here yesterday to do much. Today & tomorrow should be great, & Tal-Bloke is coming along to help, too.

I gotta go now, more hero calls await.

I gotta go now, more hero calls await.

thanks Doobs

Tal has arrived

could be a fun afternoon of wordsmithery

Tikay is here, Harrington on Holdem in hand, making corrections in the margin. So, we have the wise old been-there-done-that head, the straight-as-a-die, rulebook writing intellectual in Tighty and the livewire new kid on the block that everyone wants to know more about.

Tighty will be providing camera shots, while I'll be making full use of google images and a thesaurus to give you the info you want.

For example, here's tikay's table:

Rick Trigg opens to 10,000

David Mobbs calls in mid position

Davies, Terrance calls in the big blind

2-4-9 flop

Davies leads for 10,000

Trigg has Kings

"he has 9-x a lot here"

makes it 25,000

Mobbs folds

Davies 125,000

"if he was a young guy i could give him some two pair combos, but he's..."

his voice trails away as we both look across at Mr Davies

Trigg looks at me

I look at Trigg

Our eyes meet

He's not a young guy, needless to say

"so we get it in"

I pause, waiting for the punchline. Suddenly all i can hear is a planitive rippling of chips across the cardroom

I know what is coming

"he had deuce-four didn't he?" he asks rhetorically

i nod.

"so i am left with under 100,000 and jam it in next hand, the big blind is away"

"the same player..."

we look across again. He is no younger

"calls me in the small blind. This time he has kings"

and Rick is out

"at least its not this time tomorrow" he said making the best out of his misfortune

Table 38 sees Mr Chippman in full voice. His proposal of a chop seems to fall on deaf ears.

The table is trying so hard not to listen, they accidentally give him a walk.

All part of the plan.

John Duthie is out.

Some sort of misunderstanding arose in a 3 way pot when his 8-9dd was marginally bested by A-A and Q-Q.

He is now sat at little OMAHA cash table.

I so want to play a little OMAHA can game with John. I have a bit of a man crush on John. *

* No need for Alex to be jealous. That's more in the boy love department.

Meanwhile, seat 8 on my table, a Mr Olympios I believe, is giving me a proper schooling. Nice kid, way too good for me, and nicking all my spots.

Over on Table Bedi (27)...

Padraig O'Neill opens UTG+1 to 10k. George calls in mid position (too loose?). The small blind calls and the big blind manages not to shout "value now!" before calling.

Four of them see  2c 4c Th

Check check to the raiser, who nonchalantly c-bets 21,000, allowing the tower to topple towards the ten of hearts - "That's MY card, that is", he subconsciously informs the table.

Mr Bedi wasn't paying attention. He can't have been. Surely. He's counting out chips - MORE chips! 58k find their way into the middle. The blinds quickly go back to their 'phones, after relinquishing their cards. How much will the 3bet be?

It won't. O'Neill folds.

That's how you get chips, folks. No mercy.

He does the fold thing.

Back on 38, Alex McFarlane gets his remaining stack in with 88 on the button and runs into big blind's jacks. Whoops. No help for McFarlane and he exits stage left.

On table Kendall (he gets the notional captain's armband), Seat 9 opens UTG to 13.5k and gets action in two spots, including - I am reliably informed - Mr Olympios in the biggie. Martynas Vitkauskas is the other player in seat 3.

5 K 3 is the flop.

A c-bet gets a caller only from Seat 3, as Mr Olympios folds. I would know the details of this c-bet, but I was accosted by the table skipper, who wanted me to pass on his expert play and how he has single-handedly overcome such incomparable adversity as not having flopped a set all tournament. Omaha players, eh?

Anyway, back on the table, the turn is a badugi six and 65k is pushed forwards in a confident "all of them" double-handed motion from our aggressor.

Vitkauskas thinks. What could he be doing this with? Any big pocket, ace king, must be something. "He's superpolarised here, fo sho", tikay doesn't say.

Vitkauskas calls with KJ. No good against a set of threes, I'm afraid, and Gregory Chambers doubles up.

On table 21, with the blinds still 2,500/5,000 (sorry, do at least try to keep up, Tal), Clive Jones opens under the gun (is this a new thing, by the way. I remember when we used to fold AJ and 88 under the gun...) to 12k, which is called by Adam Ford in seat 5.

In the big blind, Trevor Reardon dwells. Not much more. Out of position. He hands his cards over like he's just had to give away his umbrella in the pouring rain.

 Th Ad 3d

Trevor now pulls a face like it's started raining custard. I'm no body language expert, but I can't help feeling he had some of that.

The aggressor now thinks for a while, after laughing with the half-giggly-half-infuriated chap next to him. He taps his shoulder (right hand to left shoulder - the right shoulder would have meant 5/1) and Ford checks behind.

Jones now tries to bet 25k. This is most irregular. I hold my eyebrow back, so as not to alert suspicion. No one's watching me, thankfully. Seat 5 questions what's happened and the dealer agrees that he deemed the tapping of the shoulder to be a check. Jones isn't impressed and gets no value on the 3h turn, as his unintentionally delayed continuation bet takes the pot.

Jones then explains, politely, to the dealer and the table that he will only check by tapping the table. Anything else is just thinking. He demonstrates. The table nods in approval. We move on.

So I have been perambulating

There are some terrific tables. And tikay's

At oen end of the bottom tier i stood to watch a bit of the chip leader Matas Cimbolas play. After all, i might learn a thing or two, such is his live form going back over the last year

He is co-tabling with Skalie and Brammer

i watched, and Cimbolas and Skalie are the two biggest stacks at the table and the two most active

Cimbolas opened to 15,000 at 3000-6000

Gabriel Tuna called

"ahh, you again" said Cimbolas as if Blofeld stroking a white persian in a Bond movie

3c 9d 6h

Cimbolas 16,500

Tuna called

3h

Cimbolas checks

Tuna 38,000

"i am sorry, but i have to do this" says Cimbolas

"because i know you have ace-king"

all this in a halting lithuanian-english that gives a frisson of menace to proceedings

he counts out 85,000 and looks at Tuna....

he smiles, shyly

and check raises

Tuna folds

Cimbolas gathers more chips. Tuna, harpooned, sinks back into his chair

meanwhile across the bottom floor is a real table

Alex Goulder
Alex Spencer
Wadey
Mad Turk

all sat in seats 5-9

looking like two choirboys and two gangsters thrown together in a weird altar-lock up combo

as i arrive at the table Spencer has raised and Goulder has called in the big blind

they both check 4d 3c 6c

Goulder leads for 15,000 on the 2c turn

Spencer calls

Aspades river

Goulder 40,000

Spencer looks up from his cajun chicken long enoguh to call and Goulder says "no pair"

Spencer shows 2s 2h to win the pot

--

i continue to watch and its all raise fold until a short-stack doubles through Wadey, shoving Q-J, Wadey calls in the big blind with Ace-King and loses to a flopped queen

unfortunately, as the TV rigging has added a lot of paraphanealia to the room i am unable to exit sharply

i am caught

wadey rises and saunters towards me

i know what is coming, and it is unavoidable

"lost three times with kings to an underpair this tournament."

pause

"each time on the river"

pause

"now he flops a queen"

"can't believe it"

i take my medicine, and eventually make my excuses

poker updaters should get aural danger money

Ballymore chris in the big blind has led for 25,000 on the river into alex goulder, who ponders

Goulder who is another big stack of a day of quick exits and huge stacks being built, calls

"King high" says Chris

Goulder almost imperceptibly appears to begin to muck, when Chris revelas KJdd

Mr Bedi now sits at the same table as Dewi James. On his second hand, G2L opens under the gun (seriously, is that the only place people open these days?) to 16k.

He is called only by the big blind and they see  Kh 9s Qs.

Check to Mr Bedi, who thinks about checking behind how much he can bet to extract value from the hand he's just made. 20,000 is too much for his opponent, whose gaze turns to the tv screens, refusing to watch as so many of his betting disks become someone else's.

Next up, Anon makes the first move to 16k from mid position...

...which is promptly bumped up to 40k by the button, Akaash Bhatia, as though he were trying to make the point that chaos ensues when people don't open from under the gun.

It's folded round to our opener, who now has to decide what he wants to do. Anon rocks his head from side to side. It's clearly a decision. He writhes in his chair (probably not getting a fold now, mate) and, unable to remove the cloak of stoicism from his opponent's visage, he passes.

I wander over to table Kendall, which is now 23, after the break before the break (if you see what I mean).

A bescarfed tikay regales me with the tale of his cold fourbet with less than aces, while the others play poker around him. They've heard this story before.

Osman Mustanoglu opens to 16k and I get the privilege of watching a poker legend mull a move. He turns properly to address the table, cracks his knuckles, adjusts his scarf and inspects what the dealer has offered him. "I see...", the thought bubble above tikay's head reads (he should probably get that looked into; visible thought bubbles are something of a leak in live poker).

Tikay counts out his stack, before restoring them to their one-unit tower form.

He's going to do it.

HE'S GOING TO DO IT!

Tikay picks up his stack and, with incomparable swagger, places all but 4 green chips over the line.

"Is he all in?", Mustanoglu enquires, quite sure the answer is No but not quite able to believe what his eyes are telling him (think that look when someone told you it was a black and blue dress). His opponent is now assured his eyes do not deceive him and that the venerable television poker expert has three bet and left himself with a small blind behind.

Tikay now realises his mistake. They say you can tell a great player because, when he realises he's done something wrong, he carries on and pretends it was all part of the plan. So, tikay now withdraws his stack and tries to push the reunited total of his chips over the line. He is reminded that this isn't some Hollywood home game and he can't get away with that. Bet stands, sir.

Mustanoglu folds  Ad Th face up. These will not suffice.

Mr Kendall is into the comfort zone of a 20 Tog - sorry, 20 Big Blind - stack.

There's a young Sky Poker qualifier here called Ross Bennett. remember the name. seen him a few times in community events and he's going to be good

Michael Welland raised and he called in the blinds

it came  Tc  4d 3d

Bennett led, with Queen Jack and was called

the turn came the  Jd

he checked and Welland shoved 340,000, a big overbet

Bennett described afterwards how he figured that "it couldn't be the made flush, he'd try and let me hang myserlf on the river. Had to be a big draw, maybe a combination hand"

Playing only 400,000 so a tournament defining read, he called and found himself having to fade  Ks Qd. A combination hand it was

the river bricked, Welland (if i have the name right) went out and Bennett is up to 750,000+

On Table Luske/Jackson (22), David Lloyd serves 20k from seat 7 (yep, under the gun). It is folded to the man in the waistcoat, who flats from the cutoff. The big blind, Chris Radford, dwells. And dwells.

He reaches for chips, deeply. Now goes for the amber, 25k ones and makes it 60k to speak.

In my day, squeezing an under the gun open was borderline ungentlemanly. I suppose this is the Fifty Shades Generation, where such actions are not just acceptable, but encouraged. Two folds follow.

Radford wins the next hand, too, meaning he added healthily to his stack in the two most expensive seats. At this stage of proceedings, these pots make a huge difference.

the irony of tikay's double up, and i am reporting this factually, is that a camera crew and hand reporter stood behind him for two levels waiting for him to bust so it could be filmed for the TV show

the moment they left, give a minute or two, his stack was in and he'd doubled

one of the bigger stacks that i missed recording on my run down the big stacks earlier was chris dowling

he'd moved to alex goulder/spencer's table and since appears to have climbed into the top 10

very approximately 800,000+

Chris, ubiquitously known as "ballymore chris" is a frequent visitor to DTD from the Republic of Ireland

not that i am a judge, apart from watching a lot of poker, but i rate him

Stars reg i think, and travels the european circuit

Over on table 32, Nick Case raises from the cutoff to 20k and is looked up and down by the big blind in seat one, Zahari Petrov. Even behind a cap and a pair of shades*, you can tell he was looking with a piercing, grizzled contempt.

"Raise"

The table, until now largely disinterested, lean forward in unison. Here we go.

"60"

"All in"

"Call"

On their backs, then.

77 for our shover (340k) and AK for the big blind, who is at risk with 300k. I appreciate you don't want me reporting on flips, but I was there and you might as well listen.

A4J 6 9 is no good for Case and he is left with next to nothing. That horrible moment where you go to leave and are informed that you still have chips, only to see a feast of Heston Blumenthal-triple-cooked chips replaced by a kebab house morcel of greasy fries. Marv.

(Yes, I said shades. What of it?)

As you can see, the names/faces are getting more concentrated now, as the field is whittled down. 447k is the average stack, meaning we have an interesting spell after this break for those feeling the heat to get creative, the big stacks to bully the mid-stacks and anyone who has my mindset to set up their exit hand anecdote by second guessing the opposition and 3bet shoving with rubbish.

14    1    Carl Spicer
14    2    Toby Robinson
14    3    Chris Dowling
14    4    Adam Bromley
14    6    Alex Goulder
14    7    Mudasser Hussain

14    9    Yucel Eminoglu

...must scare the bejeezuses out of anyone who likes keeping pots small. Any stray chip will be hoovered up ruthlessly. As in no ruth at all. Wholly lacking in ruth. Reminds me of my favourite Boycie quote:

I believe he was keeping tikay entertained earlier. We are informed he is quite aggressive. Not sure whether tikay is a great measurer of aggression, but let's give him the benefit of the doubt, there.

Mr Kendall has 10 bigs now. 120k. I have explained to him that he needs to win the next two hands he plays and he's then in the money.

I felt like the Gamesmaster to his Dominic Diamond, unveiling cheat codes.

Sinem Melin has been having a tough day. Starting with over 500,000 on the feature she lost ground and found herself back after the break with 63,000 at 6-12k

She shoved, being railed by B Boatman and C Chattha (who, let it not be said, may have had an eye on her legendary skills of bon viveur and life and soul at parties) with Qs Td

Guy Taylor called with Kc Kh

Sinem stood, and said to Taylor "good luck, you are going to need it"

and she promptly flopped 9h Jd 8d to double

Don't tell her, but behind Barny and Chaz looked a touch crestfallen, the night's carousing delayed a while

He is on the feature table

a couple of hours ago i peered over the feature table to try to transcribe a hand and i was swooped on by a crack team of floor managers

"no no no you mustn't be in shot" they said

saving myself before i was tackled to the ground and escorted from the premises bald patch first, i retreated tail firmly between my ample legs

anyway, i digress

mr scott has a chance of being on the telly, depending on the edit

he is button to chinese frankie in the small and rastafish in the big

all this means that he will be at the doctor's on monday morning with earache in his left ear, but his right ear is perfectly fine

he has 400,000 at 6-12k

While the action is a little less flamboyant, let me try to set the scene a little.

The club is busy without being uncomfortable. I'd say like it would be for the mid-stages of a Saturday night Super50, where there is a smattering of cash games and the side event going on on the top level. Most, but not all tables are occupied and there is a healthy buzz about the place.

We are just coming to the next level, which will be 8k/16k/2k.

Jonathan Kalmar has knocked out Vitas Gapsevicius in a blind on blind battle

Vitas was very short, but Kalmar set him in and he called with A-Q

Kalmar 6-7

7 on the flop, and we are down to 100 left

--

Meanwhile, in mad turk land

Toby Robinson raised to 27,000

turk called in the blinds

9c 7h 8c

check Robinson 25,000 call

2h

Robinson all in 115,000

mad turk says that he has jacks (the one hand he hasn't got then) and "am i winning?"

and calls with A-7

Rbinson has 8-8 and his flopped set holds to double him up

there isn't a live stram, it is being filmed for sky sports coverage in the months to come

can you imagine tal and myself on commentary?

this afternoon's topics at our table have ranged from blackadder, cowdenbeath, through the keyhole, keith lemon, lesley joseph, the buffalo bills, falcao, berahino, 50 shades, six nations and racing in ireland

fine, unless you like to listen to poker stuff

That certainly would be amusing any chance I could get update on Goulder and Skalie when your ready!

If I was a baller I would send a bit through for this but as you know I'm a freeroll warrior so certainly no baller status yet. :)

no need to send anything through, thanks

Skalie has 550,000

Goulder on the feature maybe 250,000 or so

short anyway

96 left 89 paid blinds 8-16k average 521,000

clear chip leader and has been all day and seemingly in every competition he has played for 6 months is matas cimbolas. A cool 1.8m

Goulder - clad in what, dare I say, is an Oxford blue jumper - seems to be short.

I catch his eye (I get that a lot) and ask how many he has. His bottom lip becomes more prominent.

"Not a lot"

He then tells me how much, in that way James Alexander Gordon used to tell you the score of the losing team.

"One fifty"

That man needs some assistance.

Skalie, however, is faring better. Slightly awkward to see, so I just asked him. 550k

i rushed up to table 22

there was a hubbub

a soft hum emanated from the table

at both ends cameramen stood, their cameras trained on the community cards which read

6-6-4-10-10

Chris Radford is the proud owner of a pair of sixes, displayed just in front of the flop

Kully Sidhu in the big blind has paid off a 150,000 river bet, and mucked

A gentle enquiry from me to the now very short-stacked player as to whether he showed and he must have had a good hand and unlucky etc etc was met, understandably enough with a stare that would have withered the angel of the north.

i backed away, as Radford stacked his new found riches.

On table 23, Verndog opens to 36k from the small blind and is called by the man to his left.

 2d Qd Ahrt

Obligatory c-bet gets there.

"Can I show the diariser?", the cold-headed (literally - he must be, without his hat) Verndog asks. I'm not sure which is more annoying: the description or the modal verb misuse.

Perhaps it also annoyed the big blind, who replied with a stern "No"

That'll learn 'im.

we had four all ins on different tables hand for hand

the one exit was davide magnan who had AK v the KK of Osman Mustanglou and missed his Ace

the other three survived

Sandiep Khosa doubled through david lloyd AA v KK on the stone cold bubble

stephen bean took AK v McConachie's 88, and rivered an ace to stay in it

and the final one i couldn't get to because of the crowds

so 90 left 89 paid and hand for hand carries on

There is one more exit to tell you about: mine. I had to get the train home, so decided it was better to get one at 8:30 and be home for MOTD than the beer train an hour later.

I have had a great afternoon helping out. I have had some great days at DTD (thin), but this is right up there with them.

Thank you very much for your thanks, of all kinds, which were both entirely unnecessary and heartily appreciated.

If you ever fancy doing the updates for an event (like me, for whatever reason, it might well be your second choice behind playing the event), I really cannot recommend it enough. That is, of course, if the updates are more than a one-off.

The only thing you have to remember is you're not Tighty. No one is. He's not human. He runs about the place like Henri Laconte, churns out wit like Lord Byron and still finds time to discuss the problems with the French rugby midfield.

Bringing it back to my introduction, I wish to offer those who remain, now in the money, my most sincere contrafibularities.

I'll be keeping an eye on proceedings from afar. Come on you spurs!

Chris Vernon has the moment to shape his competition

Milliners from Canterbury to Nottingham via the M2, M25, M1 and A52 are currently texting themselves pre-emptive congratulatory messages as...

Chris Vernon has the moment to shape his competition

Milliners from Canterbury to Nottingham via the M2, M25, M1 and A52 are currently texting themselves pre-emptive congratulatory messages as...

Ken Midgley (Ken doesn't look like a Ken Midgley. A Ken Midgeley should play bowls, like a pint of mild and rugby league. This one is 22 has a goatee and looks mediterranean) anyway he has just got 433,000 in pre with Aces, accomodated by Chris Dowling with 10-10

Midgley doubles on a 2-8-5-3-6 board

--

Andrew Hayton knocked out Mad Turk, who had less than 100,000 and shoved A-4 from the big blind over an open, from 66. He was called and lost. As he left Mad Turk was transformed into Phlegmatic Turk as he congratulated his opponents

--

Di Farrell departed when her short stacked vigil was concluded with QJ lost to 88

--

Fraser Bellamy lost a 500,000 pot when his Aces were cracked by the Q-9 of Mark Mcvey to double him up from his shove

--

we are down to 63 left approaching 12-24k

average 795k
--

exits are

64    Darren Young
65    Chris Piercey
66    Tony Hallam
67    Ho Yin Lee
68    Osman Mustanoglu
69    Yucel Eminoglu

Gareth Brideaux shoves UTG for 140,000 or so under 7x bb

Emry Wyn Lewis, who may be Welsh, shoves the small blind for 175,000 or so

Skalie in the big blind calls both and we have a three way all in

Skalie comfortably covers

Brideaux A-8

Emyr A-J

Skalie 10-10

2-5-Q-K-4 for Skalie to knock both out

He now has about 900,000

58 left, average 863,000

Post by: TightEnd on February 28, 2015, 11:23:41 PM
i better list the 58

just did a tour of the tables to catch up on a few players i haven't covered much

12    1    Matas Cimbolas
12    2    David Lloyd
12    4    Jonathan Kalmar
12    6    Bruce Jones
12    7    Ian Burdon
12    8    Fraser Bellamy
12    9    Paul Jackson

seats 4,8 and 9 have a combined 150 years of poker experience. actionjack looks like he has lost some ground, relatively, but is still on 1m or so. Matas has towers and towers of chips

13    1    Andrew Garland
13    2    Neil Benardout
13    3    Andreas Olympios
13    5    Sinem Melin
13    6    Kuljinder Sidhu
13    7    Alan Taddei
13    8    Paul Mctaggart
13    9    Mark Mcvey

after the rollercoaster of her earlier levels sinem's chip topography has levelled off and she seems in an altogether steadier mood. the player on this table who has had a really steely focus today has been McTaggart. Doesn't say much, doesn't change expression a lot, but consistently stays in the top ten stacks

14    1    Carl Spicer
14    2    Sandiep Khosa
14    3    Padraig O Neill
14    4    Farhaan Khan
14    5    Andrew Hayton
14    6    Gordon Mcarthur
14    7    Mudasser Hussain
14    8    Alexander Spencer
14    9    Richard Simmonds

Alex, from a distance, has been perma-instant messaging all day and has never really got the big old stack that was such a characterisitic of his UKPCwin a year ago when he was unplayable in the latter stages. still time though

2    1    Aleksandrs Golubevs
2    2    Jay Scott
2    3    Chin Chai Koh
2    4    Colburn Tomlin
2    5    Tom Hall
2    6    Robert White
2    7    Darren Crosby
2    8    Anonymous
2    9    Rupinder Bedi

this is the feature table. its hot out there, really really hot and the tv lights are shining such that its like a furnace opening its door as you walk by. tom hall, the tom hall with the long hair/jabracadara is the chip leader here. rupinder still doing fine but i can't get too close to tell you more

23    1    Leo Mcclean
23    2    William Davies
23    3    Terrance Davies
23    4    Kenneth Midgley
23    5    Akaash Bhatia
23    6    Christopher Vernon
23 7    Zahari Petrov
23 8    Michael Cowper-johnson
23 9    Chris Dowling

chris can report for us. leo still short-stacked, seat 3 still unconventiona from what i can see. possibly, from my limited observations, one of the more passive tables in the room

25    2    Alan Saluk
25     3    David Mcconachie
25     4    Mark Elliott
25   5    Jamie Clossick
25     6    John Haigh
25     7    Nigel Dunbar-dempsey
25    8    Hui Jin
25    9    Mohammed Sajawal

mcconachie still elads on this table. i think he is 4 hours into a massage. seat 2 is a team sky poker player, and seat 7 is happynige off sky. happynige has rarely looked happier, having the time of his life (and he's never felt this way before)

34    1    Morten Varbaek Mortensen
34    2    Ben Spraggons
34    4    Martyn Bennett
34    5    Tom Kugelstadt
34    6    Gulbar Akram
34    7    Kevin Williams
34    8    Jack Hoffman
34    9    Dewi James

ben spraggons from northants won an online biggie earlier this week and is going strongly here. Morten might be scandinavian. Tom kugelstadt has had a tough couple of levels. Kevin W from london who was associated with neil c for blackbelt has roared into form in this. must have 2m+ in front of him
dewi going deep too, which is nice to see. has position on the big stacks too

so, with 50 or so left

i realise its late but you are going to help me through, my new updating mate has gone and the long bubble is making it a long old day

which two players would you like to see final and why?

i have a soft spot for recreational players, from my background working in poker so i am going to give you two for starters

Rupinder Bedi has been on blonde, and a regular at DTD, from the start. I think he has recently had an enforced career change so a result here would be excellent timing. Over the years he has always had a terrific game and has remained competitive in it despite his priorities with his family. I hope he finals.

Dewi James was on blonde at the start, and i like him a lot. At the earlier blonde bashes he enjoyed a drink or a two, but i believe in recent years he hasn't been too well although is a lot better now. A passionate Welshman, who speaks Welsh at home in deepest North wales (iirc) and has been known to post in Welsh on the forum, if he finalled it would be a real feel good story for the forum

tell me about players you know and why you would like them to final....

I would like Skalie to win. He has a tough job of organising the cash games here with so many conflicting issues and agendas to deal with and try and please everyone when it just can't be done.

He's done a sterling job and the games he runs are now very popular.

And during this time of rebuilding the cash games he's had a truly awful run of luck for over a year now and never moans or tells us about it so he gets my vote for the win.

exits

34    Kuljinder Sidhu
35    Jack Hoffman
36    Carl Spicer

Sdhu apparently set a massage record for dtd today. 6.5 hours continuous

i had to chuckle, not that he was knocked out (KK v AQ all in on Q57, Q on the river, Andrew Garland with AQ)

but that the massage lady followed me towards the room with the sofas and literally collapsed onto the seat with an audibly huge "phew"

Alan Saluk is a team sky poker player

Leigh told me a nice story about him earlier

he had to have a week off work earlier in the year

unable to do much he grinded online MTTs on sky

he was unaware there was a UKPC Promotion on

at the end of the week he was top of the leaderboard and won a UKPC seat

So Mr and Mrs Saluk, neither of whom drive, get the national express up from Swansea to Nottingham, come to DTD for the first time, his first live event iirc...and he's made the fianl 32

i think even i, an old hack, could PR the backsuide out of that one
