Title: Has Youtube changed?
Post by: RED-DOG on May 15, 2015, 11:33:53 PM
Now, when I go to full screen it says "Full screen, allow or deny?" and when I allow it plays all jerky. If I exit full screen it plays normanny again.

Is it me?

Try running Firefox in safe-mode.

In Firefox go to Options (3 lines in top right) ---> Help (? mark on bottom row of menu) ---> Restart with add-ons disabled

If it works in safe-mode, that means one of your Add-on Extensions is causing the problem, which will require disabling them all, and then re-enabling them one by one to isolate the problem.

If you are using an Advert-Blocker that's probably the reason.

Any help?

One other thing to check

Try this on the page you are opening the video from and from YouTube.

Press Alt then on the menu that appears at the top of the screen choose Tools --> Page Info

In the window that opens click Permissions

On the Enter Fullscreen option it will have Use Default ticked, untick that and tick Allow.

Close the window and see if that fixes it.

So appropriate that the only person to offer real advice is also the only one with an m in his name.

Firefox in safe mode didn't make any difference.

I don't get a menu when I press Alt.

MIA

Try right clicking somewhere in the page, that should also give you the View Page Info option.

Found the menu, did as instructed but unfortunately no improvement.

Tried Chrome that was the same. IE was much better but I don't like IE.

It may be a bug in how Firefox and Chrome use HTML5 video instead of Flash.

Try installing this add-on to Firefox.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/youtube-flash-video-player/ (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/youtube-flash-video-player/)

Lower the quality slightly. My internet handles 1080p but it jumps a bit how you say and lowering it one notch to 720 means it works fine. Bottom right hand corner.

I'm already on 720 :(

I came back here as I was noticing the same lag problem with videos looking choppy in Firefox and couldn't remember the addon I recommended.

Weirdly it didn't always fix it for me so I did some more digging and found a cleaner solution.

I'll note it here for my own reference:

In the Firefox address bar if you type about:config it takes you to a config page.

Accept the warning and promise you'll be careful with the Dragons.

Then in the search box put dom.ipc.plugins.flash.disable-protected-mode

Double click the 1 match it finds to switch it to true.

Restart Firefox

You should be able to remove the addon I suggested and YouTube videos will play as they should do.

Firefox now blocks my flash player by default.

"Firefox has blocked the unsafe plugin Adobe Flash from running on YouTube"
