Title: Chelsea: whats going on?
Post by: TightEnd on December 06, 2015, 10:42:37 AM
i know we have discussed this before but i am still not sure we know the full story.

Mourinho's defeats at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League: First 99 games: 1 Last 7 games: 4

"To create chances Chelsea left themselves open on the counter. They're not very good. " was a comment i saw about yesterday

Chelsea's first loss to PL newcomers in 14 years

Eden Hazard hasn't scored a Premier League goal in 18 games, a run lasting 1645 minutes.

Chelsea basically need two points a game from here just to hit 60, never mind anything resembling a top four place.

what are your views on the reasons for their short term decline?

I watched a bit of the game yesterdya, and second half they battered Bournemouth.

What I did notice was that when Fabregas got the ball, he killed any tempo and momentum the rest of the team had built up by taking far too long on the ball, and generally playing sideways passes.

I honestly think that if they just got shot of him, or told him to speed it up a bit, it would have a big impact on their performances.

I thought Willian was their best player and that lad with the mask on (Matic?) also looked very good too.

Playing with Hazard up top is never going to work, he needs to give Diego Costa a massive but up the arse and get him scoring goals again.

They arent far away from being back on it IMO, but it needs the players to realise they have to actually put some work in

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich would be "foolish" to sack manager Jose Mourinho, says former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The defence has gone.

Eveyone can see Terry has finally lost it (hurrah!) but Cahill and Ivanovic are shadows of their former selves too.

I guess the cehtre of defence will be Zouma and Stones next season.

Having the best keeper in the Europe out injured is a massive neg too of course.

never mind psg, they have sunderland and watford next....

i know there has been some  talk on here about not rubbing it in to other teams  fans but lets face it, chelsea are in freefall and it is a pleasure to witness.

its nearing the end game, right?

Mourinho says "one possibility" for downfall is last season he "did an amazing job and brought players to a level that is not their level."

Mourinho  "if I was a player, I'd be giving a lot more".

Mourinho criticising his players in public, feeling "betrayed" and writing off top-4 hopes

How is Mourinho still in his job?  It's failure on an unprecedented scale.  Imagine if Moyes had done this at United!

Think there are 40 million reasons.

I expect he will be on a similar arrangement to Di Matteo in that the compensation stops when he gets another job...which will be about ten minutes after he's left.

The only reason they haven't sacked him is because they believe he's the best man right now to sort it out. If they hit the kill switch, it's because he isn't any longer the man they want.

Once Mahrez goes to United because they're short of attacking midfielders(...) and Wenger wouldn't bid enough (...), Ranieri will decide now is the time to go and the Tinkering One will be back at the Bridge.

That or they let Mourinho ship out the whingers and start afresh.

Yes they pretty much said this on SSN today.  £40m is a mythical pay off figure.  Would be funny as fuck if Jose just stayed on gardening leave for 4 years though and sucked up the 200 large a week and had a 4 year holiday.

So much fun to see such a graceless, humourless, egotistical twat get tossed out.

On the other hand - removes one of my enjoyments this season in terms of watching his increasingly pathetic post-match interviews

If you are going to get £40M if you get sacked, why would anyone want to stay employed?

Didn't expect that, fancied more of a clear out in the window than Jose to go.

well seeing as at least half the team wasn't performing for him, it was easier to get rid of the special one than ship out half the team?

reports say he is being paid to the end of the season, only

Money is probably irrelevant to someone like mouriniho. He has plenty, and is more driven by wanting to win trophies.

Good point, but he didnt have the same history as Mourinho. Mourinho had been a chelsea legend for over a decade and won a shit load for the club. There was a small degree of good variance for Di Matteo as he took over when Chelsea has already progressed a few stages in each comp.

I will miss Jose - the premiership will be a lesser place without him IMO.

If all this ends up with Benitez at Arsenal when the time comes I will cry.

One name that seems a fit at Chelsea for me is the Spurs boss, going to have a year out of the champions league, need a rebuild.  He is obviously quality.  Would he take a step down though?

Feel free to quote me on this, but there's more chance of a Graham Norton led talent competition between now and the end of the season deciding who gets the job.

By sacking Jose, the board have decided they are going to keep the players he fell out with. They have recognised and reinforced the idea that the power rests with the players at Stamford Bridge and the next manager is going to need to have an ego even bigger than Mourinho's or an aura to inspire such unending confidence that the likes of John Terry will sit cross-legged and listen intently at team briefings.

Poch fits neither criterion.

And somewhat worrying as a Middlesbrough fan, as some of the things tehy say about the way Mourinho has his teams play football can directly be seen in Karanka!

got to feel a bit queasy about all the effusive farewells to mourinho from his players

they lost 9 out of 16, very visibly fell out with him and stopped playing for him

and no doubt today if one scores they'll be kissing the badge and be cheered to the rafters

player power seems rampant at Chelsea
