Title: Walsall 300 freezeout
Post by: Djinn on June 25, 2005, 09:06:47 PM
Welcome to virtual Walsall - the 300 no-limit freezeout is just about to kick off.
6000 starting chips, 45 min clock, so I have heard.

Preliminary scan of room reveals the presence of Tikay, Ironside, Jo, Red-Dog, Ariston, Lucy Rokache and several more to be kept an eye on...

Watch this space.....

Er... aside from hotel and amazing-looking Diner (complete with A&W sign- drink for anyone who knows what this is) round the corner, I think not. But I may just not have been informed ;)

Yes - root beer it is and I'll import one for you as soon as I can :)

Found Ariston, The Bubble and Womble all next to each other on table 3.....

Also, Tikay would like it reported that for a 9.15 start, the actual 9.17 start is pretty good

Wouldn't you know it, I was just passing when Ironside raised in middle position (he was down to a couple of thousand) with two callers.
Flop KQh 2c.
Player 1 checks, Ironside all-in for about 1500 (forgive slight inaccuracy), player 3 folds
After quite a dwell player 1-mateyboy, apparently calls:
Ironside shows Ah K
Mateyboy K J clubs

Turn 10h
River As!  Hard luck sends him out early
Asked for comment:  "knew it, as soon as I saw Lucy..."

Hardluck Ironside - someone get that man a drink.

Title: Re: Walsall 300 freezeout
Post by: Djinn on June 25, 2005, 09:40:21 PM
For full justice, Ironside raised on button, called by bb and early position limper. Flop came A high, no draw - he raises, bb calls. Turns a 10, bb bets 1000, Ironside calls that and the 2000 on the river to find his AQ beaten by A10 so that is where the short stack came from....

Title: Re: Walsall 300 freezeout
Post by: Djinn on June 25, 2005, 09:47:39 PM
Early controversy as Tikay tries to call with 66, puts in the wrong chips and gets hassled into raising - they all fold and he says "well that's how you should play 6s anyway.'

Mobes gets involved in a big pot after an early AK vs AJ doublethrough... reraises preflop with KK, gets a caller and a A Q J flop.... lays it down only for other guy to reveal trip queens which develop nicely into quads

Here comes the man with the unenviable title of first out (QQ vs KK no help) just to make Ironside feel a bit better....
Hard luck to Mr. Harry Kyriacou.. only cost him price of satellite though.

Title: Re: Walsall 300 freezeout
Post by: Djinn on June 25, 2005, 10:06:04 PM
Jo slowly but steadily bluffing her way up in chips, callers thin on the ground as usual :)
6 out already (another one out from Ironside's Table Of Doom)
I've been told that Malc-M is keeping his composure despite Jonas (Tikay's Mr Bling) winding up his table mercilessly.

The Bubble raised with QQ preflop to 500, got an optimistic caller with J 7.  J 7 on flop causes great damage but he's still in with a few...

Ariston out calling a preflop raise to 250, on the bb with A 3 flop K 8 3, other guy bets 400, Ariston calls, turn 3!
A. checks, guy bets 1000, with 1000, all-in --up against a merciless 8 8, with someone admitting to having the other three.  Exit comment "At least I got that one out of the way before Vegas."

Hi Jen, welcome to the madness that is blonde.

The lengths some people will go to in order to get poll position in the lap-dancing club !

Please give Ironside my commiserations.

Sorry No Ali Malou... any surname for Buddy? I'll try to track him down.
First table already broken, blinds 50 100.

RedDog on about 5000 after finding Q8 on the bb, with a Q high flop. He makes a bet, gets one caller. Turn J. Check-check. River 2. Bet-call - the other guy shows a surprise hand of J2. Hmm. He tells me that Paul Jackson has doubled through all-in with A6 on an AA6 board against an A10.

Jo' s table all action all the time, with AA failing in its duty to win over and over:
Jo hits a Q to go with her QQ on the flop which ruins the AA chances. However, they weren't all in and the other guy managed to lay it down on the turn.
Then Mobes raises preflop with A9, gets one caller. A lone 9 on the flop piques his interest, and they get all in (he's against AA!). 9 on the river saves his bacon, E. Arestidis out with Aces.

Paul Rigg out as his QQ doesn't work against AK all-in preflop.

I've been told Lucy Rokache going strong with about 11000. Tikay on 6500

OK it's the first break and the air is thick with bad beat stories and good-natured grumbling.  Here are the chip positions of a few followees:
Jo 7500
Tikay 6500
Malc 6300
Womble 7100
Rumit 4500
Robert HM 9000 - - he has apparently been making regrettable folds such as Q5 with a forthcoming 555Q board.  Just don't look, I say.  He says, "Trust me, I'm a lawyer."

Post by: Djinn on June 25, 2005, 11:43:46 PM
Irsonside found Mateyboy1 heading home after he missed a flush draw on the flop (actual name M. Worrall) whose A 10 earlier had done so much damage...
Rumit doubled through with 99 vs AQ, it came 10 9 8 8, then a J on the flop just to rub it in.
I have been introduced to the Worm Jr., who is holding fast with 6000, while Tikay absorbed a few chips by raising on the button with what might have been AJ. Flop comes 5 8 J rainbow, and the one preflop caller bets 1000 but passes to Tikay's all-in reraise showing AQ. They all get to see Tikay's J while he mutters something about trips....
Red-dog out: short stacked with 1700, he calls with a lot of limpers with A10, flop 4 8 10 two spades. He's all in called by someone hoping for a Jack flush but who hits a Jack which unfortunately does the trick just as well.
Malc says, he's increased his 6300 to 7800 "which puts me right on track." He is now on the same table as Mobes and Jo (who, bizarrely, was moved about half an hour ago and then moved straight back to the exact seat she left. It's almost spooky.)

2 Iput my chips in when I was behind

3 I put my chips in when I was in front again

She's a great girl by the way

Title: Re: Walsall 300 freezeout
Post by: Djinn on June 26, 2005, 12:16:07 AM
blinds now 200 400

Tikay's table getting interestiing as Robert HM moved to his left, after Tony Choy-Sing's KK took out the AQ of the previous player.
Steve Jelinek moved over there with one whole chip, and after a whirlwind gathering exercise (including cracking aces with 66) he's on about 14000 now.  Yegads.

Jo is sitting tight it appears, after taking down a couple of pots on the flop.  Young James Gill on her table in good shape with about 18000 after his JJ stood up against an A9 and an all-in AQ on a board of 10 4 K 7 4, three clubs.  No scariness there, then.  When asked if he liked that board, he replied "I was f## s## myself."  Straight from the horse's mouth.  Malc on sb raises Mobes' bb by 1000.  There's a bit of dwelling and a pass.  He flips the AA and Jo says, "that's the worst bit of acting I've ever seen!"

Breakfast is apparently being ordered.  Great.

Title: Re: Walsall 300 freezeout

Cornelius has been nicking and nicking (according to Malc), big chips, makes it 3000 to go, Malc goes over the top for 9000, call. Malc's AK runs into Q7, and the Q pops up to knock him out! Worst of all, Jo had just taken a double drink last-longer with him so she won't be going thirsty

Still no lapdancing takers, as Ironside says Malcolm and Tom refusing due to legal reasons and Ariston has been absorbed into a cash game.  He's still hoping Jo might join the outing....

Down to 37, blinds 300 600

Tikay sitting fairly pretty with 27000 after someone decided to whack 8000 all-in on a 7 2 10 flop from the small blind.  He was the bb with the wonderful 7 2 and the raiser's K 10 got no better.

Message from Nick Fletcher (who has about 15000) that he's not happy with some report on his winning of the Blackpool bonanza....

Womble on 15000
R Mulla 23000

Still chip leader with c.75000 Tom Burns

30 players left

Exciting 3-way all-in in which Big Dave Smith's AA held up against QQ and ActionJack's button AK - making a convenient number for table balancing.

24 runners left

Womble just exited making a stand with 88 vs AJ.  K 4 10 flop, then J on the turn, unhelpful river 7, out in 25th.

Tikay bravely holding the blonde fort - stable 30000.  Going to be average 60000ish on final, so the chip leader Tom Burns in pretty good shape with 115000.

Also Dave Smith 40000, Mobes 7000, Malcolm Harwood (on Tikay's right) 16000.

Mobes exits reraising a 3600 raise from late position from the small blind, all-in:  Call - QQ! Mobes AQ
Flop A x x x  River the case Q.  Nice and dramatic.  Exit quote:  "If you've got to go out it's good to go out on something like that"

Jo says:  "This is 2 out of 2 that I have been here to support Tony and at Gutshot he went deep into the money.  If he makes it into the money this time it will be 2 out of 2, I will officially be his mascot and I will be charging 10% commission to appear at tournaments that he plays in.  By the way, I'm not sober.  GO TONY!"

Hi guys, I gave our new live updater the once over tonight and you will be pleased to hear she passed with flying colours, she's a nice easygoing down to earth girl with a quick wit and an even quicker smile

What really endeared her to me was when, halfway through a meal that was bigger than her she somehow managed to fling the whole lot up into the air, liberally coating herself and a few others with peas and gravy, she didnt bat an eyelid

Ive just had a read through the updates Jen and you are doing a fantastic job, well done, and welcome aboard

Great to meet a few of the others from here tonight and well done Jennifer (she does like to be calles Jennifer for future reference all  ;)) on some great reporting. Enjoyed the friendly atmosphere that blondites take with them into the cardroom as well as on the forum. The blackpool guys are so friendly that when they saw me get knocked out very early they didn't let me stand on my own on the rail, 2 of them kindly got themselves knocked out straight away so at least I had some company.

When does Jen fly out to vegas Tikay? Surely after her impressive debut she will be coming out to do the live updates as you will be playing in the main event! Good luck for tomorrow mate.

Wow, how lucky are blonde, I think we've found a diamond! Well done Jen, a terrific debut.

And well done to Grosvenor. The usual sumptous free buffet. A choice of pork chops, fillet steak or Lamb Chops (and 2 from 3 allowed), the lamb being the tenderest tender you could imagine, & new potatoes, how good was that?

Comp started smack on time, big up to them for that, the punters ache for punctual starts.

And thanks to the Grosvenor Management who were so helpful all evening, & especially understading towards Jen on her blonde debut.

A very enjoyable evening indeed. The Poker 425 Cameras arrive for Day two, Walsall have prepared an arena, so all is set fair for another good day.

Nah, I was busy - all the blondeites let the side down and bombed out early, so I had to do the bizz & try & restore some crediblity......

So J Rerardon is Trevor Reardon's sister-in-law? - I wondered if they were related when I saw her name on the "chip count sheet".

She has THE most disarming smile you ever saw. When she gives it the smile bit, my fillings all dropped out and I got the trembles. She's obviously a bit nervous, and sits there very quietly. but when she raises or reraises & her opponent looks at her for a "read", she gives this unbelievable smile, they all just pass in a trice! She did it loads of times yesterday, eventually I called for a ruling - it's gotta be a moody. But she smiled at Dani - objection over-ruled!

I sussed out how to counter her smile eventually. I just turned my back on her, & got Malcolm Harwood, sat to my right, to tell me what the board was. She was sat to my left, apparently the seat to her right had been the seat of death all night, 5 guys had busted out, killed by the smiling assasin.

3 tables out, short handed, I decide it's blind steal time, I am Button when Smiling Assassin is BB. SB is Super Rock, Smiling Assassin is Super Duper Rock. No action when it gets to me, blinds 400-800, I make it 3k to go, very confidently, this is gonna be easy peasy. SB mucks whilst I am still counting out the R, Smiling Assassin pushes all-in - I've still not got my chips in the middle yet - I just chuck the 3k R to her & say "PASS" in about 2 gigaseconds. Table collapses with laughter. Damn!

Anyway, she is sat to my immediate right today. I intend to be strong and dominant and forceful and manly, & steal her SB all afternoon. And I am bringing a sack to put over her head, so I cant see her smile.

PS - Smiling Assassin - enjoy, & I really hope you Final. Good Luck!
