on my first walk through i hears six different "seat open" cries from different areas fo the room

Ialighted on one all in and call on the bottom level

Ben Johnson is under starters orders as he has 3 bet shoved over a raise from Rss Logie and got called

His sprint is AKcc v two red nines

the flop comes Qd Jd 3d, which isn't too encouraging. He has a few metres to make up

the Jh turn doesnt change anything

He needs to power through to the tape and the Qh river just gets him to the line to survive for now with the nines counterfeited

Tighty check yr Facebook pms for a good story and photo from table 56

my anonymous correspondent reports to me a hand between Keith "thesilverOAP" Johnson and Andrew "older than tikay" Garland

Keith has been shoved on on A-T-2-4 thre club board and chats to Andrew looking for a live read

"i can beat two pair" the midl mannered Keith tells Andrew

Keith eventually decides to fold

and is shown 6-2 off!!

a third party in the text conversation who shall go nameless reports

"he is an absolute maniac" (Garland, not Keith)

this one is rather rushed, but the hand top right is Wadey Ashraf who has called a raise in the big blind and check shoved over the opener on the flop, setting him in

Ian Gascoigne has KK utg and is three bet by joe or danny laming from the big blind

Ian 4 bets and is set in.

he calls to make a 380,000 pot

Joe or Danny has Aces, and holds to send Ian out of the tournament.

Neil Channing min raise MP 12,000 K-Qo

Paul Haycock calls big blind saying "i own all the sall flops"

the flop is K-K-10

Neil says "how does that one suit then?"

Paul checks

Neil "better check and hope its a 3 or a 4 on the turn"

turn 2

Neil "you can't have that, you would have folded a hand with a deuce in it"

Haycock shoves, Neil calls

Haycoks flips 2-2!

Neil is now sitting next to me

Mad Turk finds QQ on the button playing 100,000 or 20x bb

is there every a scenario where this stack doesn't go in pre-flop, i wonder to myself?

as it happens sam grafton sets him in from the small blind to his raise

Turk calls

Grafton has Aces, holds, knocks Turk out and has 525,000 double average now

think, cogitate, digest, think and call

Conteh A-J

With 200 left I am finally, about 48 hours after the last time i was able to do so, get around the room and all the tables

what i find is as follows

the chip leader with 700,000 at 4-8k is a player from Walsall, Satnam Sandhu. A seriois looking chap who, iirc finalled the SPT that Sam MacDonald won here. Quick player note on Satnam. Do not bluff him.

Also in the top 5 is another tricky customer, Andrew Garland from Bristol with 600,000+

Also right up there is Guy "tempor" Taylor

So is Redmond Lee

and so is Simon Higgins

i think they are the five chip leaders

around the rest of the tables the following are all stacked more than ok and doing well

Leo McClean is next to a player called Stephen Bantick, both got plenty of chips

Kully Sidhu is well up there, hoping to follow on from his EPT Dublin 3rd

Malcolm "redfox" McKinlay doing ok

--

meanwhile Nick Hicks has gone

very short he shoved UTG and George Christodoulou also short re-shoved

Hicks A8 v AJ and liked the 2-8-9 flop

6 turn

J river

Rob Yong

Thx for UKPC & WPT National is $1M

Thanks everyone for helping make yesterdays UKPC work, I think we made it over the line by 3 runners, 1003 runners and another £1M event at the Club that was only delivered with the help and co-operation of you - the players + a lot of hard work from all the staff and DTD and of TK and Sky. We had to juggle times around once we realised that almost every qualifier was choosing Saturday and every comment I was from players was supportive.

I was especially pleased personally that we used the freezeout format for Day 1s this time and still made the £1M, as a gesture of goodwill and to say thank you for your support we will double the GTE for the May WPT National from $500K to $1M.

I am writing you this note from Wembley - see view below. Goodness me - that ISPT we did

Right my head was swivelling between a few tables

on table 36 Kully Sidhu raised four hands on the trot, won them all, bet every street and never reached showdown though he did voluntarily show once

He 3 bet in position and was called

80,000 in the pot he bet 35,000 when checked to on 8h Qc Ac

He bet 65,000 when checked to on the Qs turn

his opponent folded

he showed Kc Ks

next door on table 13 Stato Hlme has surreptitiously rising to the heights of 700,000+ and he is in v aggressive mode too but with mixed results

He opened to 16,000 3 hands in a row

first the button called and in the small blind Leon Narinsakchai shoves for 140,000

pass quickly from Hulme no fuss

next hand he opens to 16,000 again and next to him Matthew Eardley shoves for 120,000

pass quickly from Hulme again no fuss

next hand he opens again to 16,000. this time no action with chinese frankie playing 300,000 in the big blind

Hulme again, no fuss

thrilling stuff watching live poker

my gaze wandered to the table next door

26    1    Tom Blair
26    2    Maria Demetriou
26    3    James Jeffrey
26    5    Simon Higgins
26    6    Nick Ramsey
26    7    Andrew Hills
26    9    Anonymous

Maria has quite a spot here as she is short-ish and on the right of two big stacks who are active and them some

james is a sky player "DTM" and Higgins has the (in the nicest way) smug smile of a Lion who is head of the pride and intends to eat whatever chips are offered his way

on a hand i saw Maria opened to 16,000

Jeffery called

Higgins, not a fan of passing in most circumstances, makes up

8c Jh 5s

check check check

Kc

check to Maria 20,000

Jeffrey makes it 45,000

Maria passes with the air of someone to whom this shit has been happening for about a decade (which it feels like it has, i expect)

I join a hand with the board reading 2-2-10-7

Typhoon trevor pearson has just checked and willie tann, in position has bet 35,000

then he begins talking

"you are going to call again, really? you have Ace-ten? hope so"

typhoon thinks

"maybe you have eights or nines or something"

typhoon calls

K river

"oh, you might have hit a king now"

"i had better value bet. just small. don't want you pass"

he bets 27,000

trevor "well i am priced in now"

willie, agitatedly "that's what i want!"

trevor calls

shows A-10

"knew it" says Willie as he flashes a ten and passes

having done a third of his stack here, he is out 20 minutes later, doing the rest in thre chnks around the tabgle, including some to the new chip leader....

Klevas Elvedas, who wasn't named by J.R.R.Tolkein but might have been

1.6m with 130 left and clear chip leader

I asked him where he was from and where he plays etc etc

bit of chit chat, you know how it is

the reply

"I am from yesterday"and he walked off

I am now filing him under "enigmatic"

So there was a little controversy because the dealer at Gale's table insisted she heard Gale call as they left the table

Gale insists he didn't

ruling

Gale is allowed to have his decision

and he shows 7-7 and passes

it is suspected that the Fire Alarm was activated by an over zealous "vape" smoker, an over sensitive smoke detector in the ceiling, or a combo of both.

"Vaping" (?) has now been stopped in the Club until further notice.

on a nearby table Greg Humphries shoves 140,000

in the small blind Andrew Hlme reshoves 360,000

In the big blind Matthew Eardley calls all in

Humphries A-6

Hulme Q-Q

Eardley J-J

As is often the way in these situations people at all adjancent tables and this one claim to have folded an ace so Humphries is a bit dejected, his outs are gone

but wait, the board comes 8-K-2-K-A to treble him up

Hlme makes he says 120,000 on the hand from the side pot  as Eardley is knocked out

107 left

You might think the tension was unbearable, but on Table Doobs/Maria D they are having a chip backspin contest.

The winner was Steve Watts, who flicked a backspinning chip the full length of the table, it then circled a players stack & returned to Steve. I kid you not, I saw it with my own eyes. As opposed to someone else's eyes.

so i have been trying to catch the bubble hand

four shortstack double ups so far,

and a 20 minute tank from Chinese francis against stato. would tell you the hands but the crowd around the table was three deep

then a player was automatically all in in the big blind

a raiser and we are heads up

the raiser has 6-6

the auto all in blind has A-10 suited. i mean, how?

and he hits his Ace to double

on we go
