Title: The Life Of Me - Security, The Virtual Felt and Live Honkament Fun.
Post by: IT5PAYDAY on April 29, 2016, 05:50:25 PM
Sup guys,

Fairly new to Blonde so will start with a brief description about myself etc...
I'm 27yrs old, my LIVE stomping ground is Luton.... I live in Milton Keynes, not a fan of the Aspers there after being colluded out of a £550 pot and nothing done about it (That's a whole different story/post).
Anyways, been playing poker for about 8years. Started purely for the fun and to 'pass time' with the hope to scoop a lil bit of extra money to go out on the razz with at the weekends with mates.... I'll take this time to thank the dribblers online who paid for various strip joint visits and heavy heavy nights out in Newcastle...

Started off playing online and was literally playing freerolls on PartyPoker and PKR. However, over the past 3years have taken it a bit more serious and actually WANTED to make profit and think about the game a lot more rather than just flicking it in to weekly Luton Honkaments or depositing on Stars for the day just to spin about with.

Managed a couple of nice scores on PokerStars a couple years back and then managed to get a staking deal just under a year a go. I have steadily managed $50k of cashes in the past 8months since receiving the deal. I'm a low-mid stake grinder. Focusing on iPoker and PartyPoker. On iPoker i am mostly playing the €10 Rebuys, €30 FO, €50 FO and then satelliteing in to anything €100+. On PartyPoker I am focusing mainly on the $22 game's with a couple of the $55's thrown in to my daily schedule. If I can satellite in to the Daily $109's then I slide in to those.... Had a pretty sick February with those including Winning the $22 Contender, FT Contender and x3 $109 Uppercut all in the space of 4weeks.

Anyways, I hold down a full time job alongside the poker grind. My day job is a security officer for a retail store. Basically I'm stopping the thieves each and everyday from stealing anything from a sandwich up to £5k worth of clothing.... Kind of fun and keeps me on my toes. Not much progression in the job but have been doing it for 5 years and it gets the adrenaline going when a 90yr old lady conceals an onion up her skirt...

Even though I have really been focusing on improving my game and just generally taking more of an interest in poker I am looking to really up the level going forward and this new job is a 4 on 4 off pattern which means I can get some real solid day and evening schedules for online grinding...

This blog will basically follow my movements through grinding my online games and post any funny day to day activities with my job and my progress throughout my games whether it be online or the build up to my first ever Vegas trip in June. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Honk!

I will get better with regards to the writing, don't want to make it boring etc!! Any questions about myself do drop a comment :)

Good luck.

Who are you staked by? How do you find it? What do you love that they do? What do you wish that they did better?

What's the scene like in the Luton G these days?

Has John The Pen ever tried to offer you outside for calling him down with second pair when he bets 17x pot on the river in the first blind level?

Pleno, we actually played on the same table the other day in the Uppercut..... Didn't have many spots together though.

I'm staked by BRS. The whole unit they have is extremely positive and it brings great opportunity with regards to bigger Live tournaments in which I may not usually be able to have the roll to jump in to. With regards to the online side of things and what I love about it... I love how much they have made me work towards improving my game, since being staked it has opened my eyes to how much I need to work and focus on my game to be a consistent solid profitable player.

Ahhhhh John The Pen.... I have played many many pots with the man, mostly all within the first level as I don't usually see him in the tourney after that ;) Funny character, that's one thing I love about this game, the characters you come across.

Woken up feeling fresh, it's bank holiday weekend!!! Can only mean 1 thing........ Beer?! Oh no... I'm working! Today will consist of dodgy refunds, the local addicts stealing alcohol and the odd foil lined bag for a bulk theft on women dresses......

But before work I am sat here thinking of what I can see on the horizon.... Vegas!!

It will be my first trip to Sin City and it has been a dream for many many years. Unfortunately I've never been in a situation to even think about flying out to Vegas however, It's possible now!!

The reason for taking up the staking deal was for 3 reasons (In order)

1. Get to Vegas and play some events out there
2. Clear my teenage/early 20's debt
3. Deposit for a house for me and my girlfriend

First aim is sorted, I am flying from Manchester direct to Vegas on the 8th June until the 18th June. Managed to get a decent deal on a flight and I'll be staying in an apartment with 9 other players from the stable that I am in. Should be pretty crazy.

Vegas MTT Bank
$4.2k

I have got $4.2k saved up so far, think that will be plenty for what I am looking to play out there. Will be focusing on the Daily's at various casino's and have seen a couple of good festival events on whilst out there.

Obviously I am on picking up a couple of nice scores online and I also aim to play a couple of good LIVE Events before I go to Vegas such as Luton 25/25 next week (FT'd it previously, so need to get over that last hurdle this time).

Anyways, I best go and put my cape on and keep a look out for these shoplifters......

Will be grinding tomorrow evening and will put a post up with how I've got on in the clicking buttons war.

So - First day of my new job role today... Pretty eventful. Got given the new company car, nice little white 16 plate. Pretty funny that I've been pretty much doing what the flintstones do with there vehicles over the years, having to move my cars along myself! Always been stuck with older vehicles... Nice to drive something pretty fresh tbh! Felt like a company balla.... Then I looked in the mirror and looked deep in to my eyes and realised I'm still that button clicking grinder with a dream.

Work itself had a couple of incidents including some mid 60yr old I've been after for about 2 years... Last time I deterred him for about £2.5k of lingerie. Today I bumped in to him in a new store I was at and he recongised me straight away.... He rolled his large empty bag for life and left pretty sharpish. DonkThief.

Stuck on the monitors when back and having a small grind... Breaking even with 1 tournament left. In the money though so we're looking at a profitable night. Currently hovering around 14bbs, which we will spin up to a big win.

Got the 25/25 Luton coming this weekend which I'll be taking part in. Have FT'd it previously and want to try smash it up on my home-turf....

Good luck Adam, great to see and hear you enjoying yourself. This solely about Poker or can we include some of your music?

Why Rap?
How long you been doing it?
Link to a few battles would be nice.

Goodluck in Vegas.

For sure man....Music is always welcome! :)

Unfortunately my music has taken a back seat over the past year as have focused a lot on poker however still hungry as ever to write and record.

For all those that don't know, I'm a Rapper, have been doing it for a good number of years now and had some pretty cool experiences over the years with it... One of the highlights being I performed on the 1Xtra stage at Reading Festival in 2013. Was pretty crazy being up in front of 3,000 people..... Madness!!

Here are a couple of links for you to chew over... I appreciate it won't be everyone's cup of tea!

Why Rap? Well..... I used to be heavily in to Basketball (Was pretty damn good at it).... Had a trial over in Florida, played for South East England...... The people I was surrounded with every day were all in to Rap, I just got in to it through that to be honest! Had a pretty interesting bring up when I was younger living on an island called The Isle Of Sheppey down in Kent. So yeah.... Got a lot to say and music is a great way to express it!

How long have I been doing it? Pfffft...Well my first ever track was recorded on New Years Eve when I was 16...It was about an Ex girlfriend and it was so so so so so bad lol.

And now for the £550 collusion story?  ;D

Ahhhh yes, that will be a whole new post which I shall post tomorrow, just about to start an evening grind!

Ahh, Sheppy, that brings back some great memories. Spent most of my childhood/teen years at my parents caravan, Haven/Park Resorts in Minster/Eastchurch from roughly 1990 to 2003 approx, some of the best times ever and still best mates with the people I met On the site. Didn't always get on with the locals though  ;nemesis; ;snoopy'sguns;

Can agree there will be a few that don't like the music but can't deny your talent.

See u at 25/25 this week, what day u playing? if we make day 2 we will have to hook up for lunch or some such. Is the other Cat playing?

Yeah I'll be playing FRIDAY for 25/25 mate....We both will make Day2 and definitely hook up for some lunch prior! A few of us are meeting up for some dinner tomorrow night before we start if you fancy playing etc?

The other cat will be playing tomorrow to yeah :)

Well well.. Been quiet for a few days as been pretty non-stop.

Work - This new job role is kind of decent.... I was not loving the first few days and had thoughts of heading back to my old place of work but thought I'd stick it out and see how it goes.... at least for a month to get the full month pay of course! Been a crazy week for people coming in and attempting to steal. Arrived at 1 store along Kettering high street and within 5minutes of arriving some guy, who funny enough looked like a smacked up, tattooed version of Tikay just bowled on in to the store and filled up a bag of stuff. Now when I had a CCTV operator and colleagues with me, I usually stop them outside and bring them back etc etc...
But now I'm working alone with nobody covering my back etc, I stopped him outside and took the stuff off of him. At this point we had a pretty deep conversation regarding why he was in the situation he is in. It's weird, because there is always that moment before stopping someone that you wonder how they are going to react. I mean, I've had knives, needles and all sorts pulled out on me previously hence why now with me working alone I don't fancy dragging them all the way back through the store every time. Unless it's someone with a front the size of Jennifer Tilly. The whole 4 on 4 off is working well with me though and I'm definitely a fan of it... Means I can get a lot of poker study in and also start some day sessions online.

Poker - Had a profitable Sunday yesterday, managed to FT one of (IMO) the tougher comp's on the iPoker schedle, the €20,000 Sunday Warm Up. Got there super short and managed to grind 6bbs and ladder 3 spots for an €850 cash.... sort of saved the day really! Annoyed with myself as I got involved in a pot with chip leader after I trebled to like 20bbs and to be honest I played it horrendous. Possibly cost me a top 3 finish that hand.

Anyways, there is 1 thing on my mind right now and that is the trip of a lifetime for me in 3weeks..... Las Vegas baby! Anyone else going!?

Hey guys...

Back from Vegas now and no surprise 1 day in and I am already wanting to be back with all those titties in my face.... Hmm I mean, playing poker at any time of the day.

It was an incredible trip. I have wanted to go Vegas since I can remember and just never had the opportunity to go. I was blessed enough to have that opportunity this year and I couldn't of asked for more. There was 7 of us staying in a house that we rented about 15 minutes off the strip, was quality!

I quickly realised the level of poker in Vegas is a few years behind what we have back home. Players are making insane fundamental mistakes and just in general over playing hands in so many ways. It was the first time in a couple years that I have sat at the tables and generally felt comfortable and confident and dare I say it... Unbeatable! Crazy feeling to have but it worked.

I started my trip off with a $300 tournament at Planet Hollywood, I was buzzing to be playing out there and unfortunately I busted within the first 2 levels!! I was gutted, the structure was nice but I just played way to many pots and to be fair was running in to some big coolers real early on.... I decided to just chill out and re-evaluate my state of mind and just remind myself why I am there etc.... Prior going to Vegas I had a deep chat with my girlfriend and explained to her that all the hours I have been putting in playing online and studying away from the tables will be for times like this, when I go to Vegas and have a chance of playing some big fields with good money at the end. I explained to her that I'll be going out there with the intention of cashing enough money to put a house deposit down for the both of us.......

The following day out in Vegas was the $150 Golden Nugget Series which had a guarantee of $100k. Now, I really really liked the Nugget casino and the card room. I felt comfortable and relaxed.... I sat down and my first hand saw my 15k Starting Stack treble to 45k as we get 107cc and J5ss both get it in pe flop for stacks against out KKs..... Obviously we had 2 sweats with an open ended straight draw and a flush draw for the J5ss but we fade and got a great start. From that moment forward I didn't really look back.... Everything I was doing just felt right, was playing the best poker I have ever played. This was proven on Day2 when I made a huge fold for 1.2million chip pot when the average was 350k.... I was shown the bluff too but villain had outs and if I had not folded that hand...who knows, I could of busted. Mentally I learnt a lot just from that 1 fold as well which for me is massive as every time I am playing now I am wanting to learn more and more about my game and me as a person.
As some of you saw on Facebook, I went on to the final 6 players and we discussed an ICM chop. 3 of us were on 3million....1 person was on 4million....1 person was on 4,8million and the leader had nearly half the chips in play. For some reason the chip leader was offered $20k (1st was $33k) and he snapped it up.... He couldn't wait to say deal. 2nd - $18k, 3rd - $16k and 4/5/6 - $15k. I noticed they all couldn't wait to snap the deal up and I know they had been hating playing pots with me all day so I got a bit cheeky and pushed for $200 off of everyone else otherwise we just play on for the $33k first prize. They all quickly agreed and I managed to squeeze an extra $1.2k out of the chop :) So I technically got the 3rd place finish and a $16.2k score...... My biggest cash to date and an amazing start to my first Vegas trip. What a beauty!!

I actually took it pretty easy for the rest of the trip, I only had an outlay of $1800 of buy-ins across the 10days and I ended up finishing with $18k. I also had a slight sweat in a $240 Planet Hollywood game where I came 25th out of 400 runners, once again played really well and just generally made all the right decisions throughout the tournament.

Vegas has well and truly got a hold of me and I know that Vegas will be my second home every year...... The buzz of walking in the Rio, the poker being played etc.... It literally was incredible.

Thanks Tikay. It was an amazing first trip...
Saw you chopped a PLO comp out there mate? Well done! Did see you in PH but you was being mobbed by thousands of fan boys wanting autographs with the legend ;) - I was wondering if it was possible to have a word with you regarding claiming back 30% of my win that the Nugget has taken? Is it possible to drop you an e-mail/PM? I spoke to a couple people out in Vegas and they said for me to get in touch with you as you may have some advice for me etc...

Start a new thread in the rail regarding ITIN. Plenty of people on here will know about it.

Great to see Adam get 2nd place at DTD for £19k in an event this week and also going back with a healthy chip stack in the main event. Well done. A little trip report would be great when you get the chance.
