Very sadly comes the news that Chinese Frankie passed away today. One of the great characters  of the UK poker community and the life and soul of any table he played at. R.I.P

Fuck

Such a good bloke, played him many times and always good fun, really lovely to my mum the time she played at DTD.

What happened? He was a relatively young man.

I didn't know him well but he always took the time out to talk to me and Natalie at DTD and I don't think there is any time I met him he didn't make us laugh out loud.

Saw him last weekend, and he greeted me add he always did,  with the only bit of Japanese he knew, "baka yaro!"

Im in utter shock. I dont know what to say but I need to say something as it will not sink in.

I've known Frankie since I found Poker. We used to play at Rileys together 8+ years ago. In those 8 years, I've been incredibly lucky to call Frankie a close friend. He's always been there for me, whatever I needed was never too much.

Frankie felt like family to me, and Im sure many others felt the same. He was coming to my stag do and wedding next month, and he was one of the first on the list. I wish you could have been there, old friend, but we'll raise a glass to you.

He had a heart attack last month, something many people dont know. When he came back to DTD within 3 days, I ran over to ask him how he was. He told me "If its my time its my time. I just wish I could take some friends to play poker with". I wish I could play just a hand with you one last time.

A huge hole is missing in the Poker Community. Nobody will ever fill it. We'll miss you, old friend, more than you'll ever know.

Always asked me how my mum was doing
Always asked me how our book sales were going
You could always hear him no matter what table he was at, he was at the one where everyone was laughing

Just one of those local legends, really gutted.

I just want to repeat what everyone is saying; that Frankie was one of the nicest guys in the world.

I was having some fun banter with Frankie over twitter for a while before I finally met him at DTD.

I've just been looking over some of the old tweets. He used to send me funny messages in really simple Thai language when I was in Bangkok, mostly about food or girls. When he saw I was in Penang, Malaysia he gave me a list of foods to try there. He messaged me on my birthday and at xmas. Wished me luck when I was playing in tourneys.

When I met him at DTD he was sitting at a cash game table with a big stack of chips and a smiling from ear to ear. The first thing he said to me after shaking my hand was "let me buy you a drink". I don't think I ever saw him without a smile on his face.

I remember last year when Kanu resigned from PokerStars he tweeted at him offering him a job in his chippy hahaha

What a legend. Friendly to everyone and a terrific sense of humour. Poker, and in fact the world, needs more Chinese Frankie's.

Rest in peace, Frankie.

You will be sorely missed.

I am devastated.

A lot of nice things you could say about CF but I'm just going to go with hilarious, never took himself to serious and was just a laugh to be around.

He's the third fish and chips & poker player combo to die in the last 18 months,  frankie would 100% have a funny comment to make about that :-D

Hope there's a poker game wherever you are bud.

SOMETHING 2 MAKE EVERY ONE HAPPY.

I surveyed 100 women and asked them what shampoo they used when showering?
98%  of them said " how the fuck did u get in here?"

My neighbour just asked me outside 4 a water fight. thought id write something
here while waiting 4 the kettle 2 boils.

Just read this from greekstein legend thread...

I can close my eyes and just imagine him saying it, hahaha.

I posted this on Facebook, but I thought Id post here too. Im sure Frankie would want everyone to remember the good times and be happy.

Im sure everyones got a funny Frankie story, but here's one of my favourites that summed him up.

I decided to drive back from Birmingham a night early after working an event, and Frankie asked if he could jump in with me. It was fairly late, and I dont think Frankie had slept the night previous so he could get to day 2.

While driving home, we were talking about all sorts of things (funnily enough, death of loved ones was one of them). When about 2/3rds of the way home, he realised he'd still not told me how he bust day 2 (I tried my best to avoid it). He started telling me the tale, but his voice was drifting off. I turned round and realised he'd fell asleep, so let him get some shuteye. 2 minutes later, he wakes up and screams "AND THE BASTARD HIT A JACK ON THE RIVER, FUCKING 1 OUTER JAMIE SO SICK". I was in absolute tears and had to pull up.

Such shockingly terrible news, he was such a lively chap at the table. I remember turning up to DTD not long after my 18th birthday for one of the Grand Prix events, one of my first live tourneys and was pretty nervous. I was drawn on the same table as Frankie. He naturally makes you feel more relaxed, listening to his stories and jokes. A real character who helped fuel my passion for live poker. He was Mr Dusk Til Dawn.

RIP Frankie.
