Title: TfT £12K Celebration Wimbledon Competition
Post by: MereNovice on June 21, 2016, 03:31:41 PM
Spreadsheet link: http://bit.ly/28KpoSE

I am pleased to announce the TfT £12K Celebration Wimbledon Competition.

The rules are as follows:

1. Entry is FREE to those who have had a tip accepted on the "Tips for tikay" thread prior to Tuesday 21st June.

2. The competition will be run during this year's Wimbledon tennis championship from Monday 27th June to Sunday 10th July.

3. Each entrant will pick between five and ten selections in any number of the categories below. You may only pick a maximum of one selection in any category. You have a bank of £100 which you may allocate as you see fit between your bets (with a minimum of £10 per bet). Winnings will be settled on the basis of the prices that are current at 11am on Monday 27th June (as listed on Oddschecker). At least two bookies must have the best price for it to be used otherwise the second best price will be used.
Your bet may be "win only" or "each way" (where available). I will indicate the place terms once the markets are formed.

If any of your selections withdraw before the competition starts, it will be replaced with a "win only" bet on the favourite for that category.

The categories are likely to be:

Men's Winner
Men's Quarter 1 Winner
Men's Quarter 2 Winner
Men's Quarter 3 Winner
Men's Quarter 4 Winner
Women's Winner
Women's Quarter 1 Winner
Women's Quarter 2 Winner
Women's Quarter 3 Winner
Women's Quarter 4 Winner
Men's Doubles Winner
Women's Doubles Winner
Mixed Doubles Winner

4. I will post the definitive list of markets (with links to the Oddschecker pages) in the next post when they are available - probably on Friday afternoon.

5. I will be using information from http://www.wimbledon.com/ for the purpose of deciding the result of each category.

6. Entries must be posted on this thread by 11am on Monday 27th June.

7. The winner will be the person who makes most profit (or least loss) over the course of the tournament. Where two (or more) people achieve the same score, I will split the prize money evenly. There will be no tie-break conditions.

8. My decision is final in all matters (until proven otherwise).

9. If you have any questions, please post below or PM me.

The prizes are as follows:

1st     £50

2nd    £25

Have fun.

I would have chosen those terms but decided to use the titles on Oddschecker as some people get easily confused.
Therefore you should blame the shower responsible for Oddschecker. :)

Tighty does all the creative thinking. :)

Ana Ivanovic is actually in Q3 of the draw; the bookies have just erroneously given her odds for Q1.
I'll assume that you want Q3 for now but you can make any changes you like until 11am.

Well, maybe a little...

5 hours you say? Plenty of time. I picked out the seven of diamonds yesterday. This should be a doddle.

I don't know, picking out the 7d seems pretty easy compared to beating hector in a tennis tipping competition.

Bad news for backers of Belinda Bencic; the lovely Tsvetana Pironkova is favourite to beat her in their first round match. I'd guess that there are still doubts about her back injury.

She should win her next match against Shvedova/Svitolina who aren't looking too great at the moment.
However, she should then play Muguruza.

Gets worse: I've peaked. No more in-play bets. Busto. Buster Bloodvessel.

Is this win on your stake, by the way?

To add to my embarrassment of winning this - that was certainly not supposed to happen - I forgot all about this, & plum forgot to send the runner-up his prize.

All round fail, one way or another. Apologies.

However, 4ksuited, the Runner-Up, has written to me with a rather nice suggestion, which I'll post on Fred shortly.
