Title: Three tables
Post by: dtd_live_updates on September 30, 2016, 03:16:13 PM
Three tables

There are 20 players in at the start, on three tables. Some photos follow before the action hots up later

Here is Kelly Saxby on the left as they sit of The Flying Dutchman Marcel Luske, who is looking as urbane as ever

Title: Eleanor
Post by: dtd_live_updates on September 30, 2016, 03:23:26 PM
Eleanor

It’s coming up to a year since Eleanor Gudger won the WPT500 here for a cool £140,000.

Here she is again today, warming up for that big £3m WPT UK festival in a months time

Title: Albert
Post by: dtd_live_updates on September 30, 2016, 03:26:27 PM
Albert

On the other side of Marcel is Albert Sapiano. In a small field for this flight so far I think it will make sense for me to be in his vicinity, an action player on what should be a lively table.

Title: Reprobates

Reprobates

Matt Harris finds himself raising into Sapianao and Luske. He’s smiling for now

Sean Belton is on the middle table. Away from table Albert and impending action, which i am now going to watch

Post by: dtd_live_updates on September 30, 2016, 04:06:30 PM
In every pot

I arrived to see Albert Sapiano take down a 20,000 pot getting three folds on a two heart, two diamond connected board and decided to hang around

next hand Kevin Byrne opened to 550 at 100-200

Malcolm McKinlay called, Albert called in the small blind and kelly Saxby called in the big blind

the flop comes

checked to the raiser, who leads for 1125 and Albert is the only caller

turn

check check

river

Albert leads for 1500 and Byrne folds

Next hand Byrne limps

Matt Harris makes it 1000

and the procession of callers begins. Albert on the button, Saxby on the small blind and Byne himself mean we are 4 way to another flop

checked round

checked round

checked to Albert who almost apologestically bets 2500 having seen everyone check to him lots of times

and they all pass…

Title: Non-actionjack

Post by: dtd_live_updates on September 30, 2016, 04:46:56 PM
Flop the nuts…

Sree Vam opens to 700 UTG+1 and gets three callers

the flop comes and actionjack in the blinds checks to him

He leads and gets one caller, Niren Hndocha on the button

turn

Vam bets again and is called

river

Vam checks and after a decent think Hindocha bets 6000, about 2/3 of the pot

Vam calls with a resigned air, flicking one chip into the middle and revealing for flopped broadway

Hndocha shows him for the flopped royal flush draw and rivered flush to win a 21,000 pot

Title: 43 at the first break
Post by: dtd_live_updates on September 30, 2016, 05:03:38 PM
43 at the first break

and the latest entrant is Ali Mallu

just before the break small blind Richard Paul raised into his big blind

call

Paul 800, call

Paul 1400, call

Paul 2100

Mallu raises him to 6500 and Paul furrows his brow

He eventually folds and Mallu shows him

Title: “I’ve got two pair”
Post by: dtd_live_updates on September 30, 2016, 05:37:42 PM
“I’ve got two pair”

Anthony Nicholls limps as does the button and Albert Sapinao then raises to 3200 in the small blind

Nicholls in the only caller

Sapiano 3000, call

Sapiano 3000, call

Sapiano all in, a big over-bet as he has a big stack already

Nicholls exhales and thinks, and thinks

Albert begins chattering

“It’s a re-entry, what are you waiting for?”

“I thought the last card was a spade actually”

“I’ve got two pair, I’ll tell you that”

Nicholls eventually folds and Sapiano shows him for quads

Title: Gandhi
Post by: dtd_live_updates on September 30, 2016, 06:01:53 PM
Gandhi

Matt Harris opens to 1000

Malcolm McKinlay makes it 2000

Danish Gandhi calls

Albert Sapiano calls

Anthony Nicholls calls in the small blind

Eleanor Gudger all in for 17,000 big blind

After a couple of folds Gandhi calls and Anthony Nicholls calls all in

so a three way showdown

Gudger has J-J

Gandhi has called with 9-9

Nicholls has overcalled, covered by Gandhi with A-Qss

and it comes 9-8-8 to knock both out and send Danish Gandhi into the chip lead in level 4

“Anyone but you, i would bet”

Mo Muse opens to 1100 at 250-500

David Johnson calls on the button

Jason Wood calls in the big blind

Muse c-bets and is called by both

check to Johnson in position and he bets a chunky 4800, around a pot sized bet

Wood folds, Muse check calls

Muse checks

Johnson “anyone but you i bet again, but you are capable of taking off with all sorts” and checks showing which is good

Title: Jacks
Post by: dtd_live_updates on September 30, 2016, 08:42:25 PM
Jacks

Shola Deadman’s stack has been see-sawing. First she called the all in from Kelly Saxby’s small stack with A-10 and found herself against Jacks. She flopped a ten and rivered an Ace to send Kelly in the direction of the 7pm flight

Next time i passed Shola’s table she was herself all in, covered by David Stonehouse and with Jacks again, this time against Ace-King

Jacks held on a 9-8-6-7-9 board to send her to an above average stack with 25 of 52 remaining in level 8 of the first flight

Title: three way all in
Post by: dtd_live_updates on September 30, 2016, 09:14:32 PM
three way all in

Albert Sapiano raised and Tom High calls

Jason Wood all in in the blinds from a short-stack

Sapiano calls and High overcalls all in

Sapiano calls for the extra

Wood A-6

Sapiano A-J

High A-K

K-8-8-J-3 to knock Wood out and virtually treble up High

Title: Let it Raine
Post by: dtd_live_updates on September 30, 2016, 09:12:41 PM
Let it Raine

Raine Hillson raised it up and Jack Allen called in position

the flop came 9-6-7 two spades

Hillson led for 16,000 and Allen raised to 45,000 setting her in

After a long think Hillson called all in with Jacks

Allen shows 6-6 for the flopped set

Turn another jack to double Hillson up

Title: another one gone
Post by: dtd_live_updates on September 30, 2016, 09:39:08 PM
another one gone

David Johnson opens to 24000 at 600-1200 and Nick Fellone three bets to 6500

Minesh Karsanji all in for 25,000 in the cut off

Johnson folds and Fellone shrug calls with A-Q

Minesh has Jacks, and is in great shape on the 7-9-9-3 board until the Ace falls on the river

there are 17 left in the first flight with three levels left to play toay

Title: play tomorrow?

A raise UTGis met with several callers including Albert Sapiano and, on the button Tom High

the flop comes 9-5-3 rainbow

check to Albert who shoves 45,000, over the pot, in

Tom High said afterwards “he had said before the hand he wanted to go home, my only doubt was whether someone had checked a big hand” and he called with 8-9 suited

Albert A-7o

Top pair holds and we have 15 left in the first flight

Ben Jackson
John Eames

skalie and Marcel Luske across from Terry Jordon

Marcel Luske has doubled through Raine Hillson, calling a raise in the big blind with 5-5 and flopping 5-7-Q, finding the raiser with A-Jcc, chips in on the river after 8-7 turn and river

--

meanwhile Alex Gulder has had his stack in the middle in the first level

He raised to 3,000 and was called in three spots including by the chip leader

Three spade flop K-6-5

Goulder led out for 7,000 and the chip leader made it 18,000

Goulder to 59,000 effectively all in and eventually K-6 called him

Goulder flipped K-6 too, which was a bit anti-climactic given the length of time it took...

There is a raise to 16,000 at 800-1600 which gets my eyebrows flexing

Will Kassouf takes notice too, he is in the small blind to this raise and immediately tries to find out from his middle aged oppoennt, who is playing a big stack "misclick?"

no answer is forthcoming

Kassouf calls and when the big blind passes the diatribe starts

"I've got a nice pair" "Might have three bet you but then if you shove i've got a nasty decision of whether i want to go to the races against your ace-king"

the flop comes Q-4-8 rainbow

"I've hit that. King-Queen. Suited. top pair, not going away, wouldn't bet if i were you"

He checks

His opponent fires 15,000

"a mistake that, should have taken the free card. I am ahead"

and he calls

6 on the turn

it goes check check

"oh, you've slowed down now?"

4 river

check

"don't do it, i will call."

his opponent listens and checks

Kassouf shows two red nines and the raiser mucks

"told you, had your ace-king all the way"

either side of Kassouf players lose the will to live at the prospect of nine hours of this forthcoming, unless the table breaks....

Adam Bone raises and actionjack 3 bets in position

Bone calls

with 7-8cc, and flops the flush draw

and calls a c-bet from Jackson

Bone turns the flush and two stakcs go in with Jackson having Aces including the Ace of clubs

the made flush holds on the river to knock Jackson out

--

meanwhile on a far table i arrive to see Mad Turk, last month's runner up, scoop[ing in a huge pile of chips

He has found Kings to a raise from Ace-king and short-stacked shove from sevens

He calls the shove, so does Ace-Kng and the flop comes case King high. Nice, he stacks two players and now has a stack to have some fun with

Title: hand for hand
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 02, 2016, 04:18:30 PM
hand for hand

the first two exits todasy were guy taylor and adam daniel

since we have been playing hand for hand, 16 left with 15 x £2200 seats up for grabs for all but the next finisher

no exits since, but one double up as ravi sharda shoved A-Q over a raise from peter smith for his last 155,000 at 12-24k.

Smith called with Q-10dd, priced in, and turned four to a flush but missed to enable Sharda to double up

Title: Sylvia Hewitt finishes 16th
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 02, 2016, 04:44:53 PM
Sylvia Hewitt finishes 16th

Sylvia is all in pre flop wioth Jacks against Mark Elliott with Kitngs. She is just covered in a battle of two average stacks around 770,000 each

the board comes 4-3-3-3-4 to take us into the top 15

Title: a difficult decision
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 02, 2016, 04:49:53 PM
a difficult decision

just before that hand Wll Kassouf on the other table raised and Rob Davies called

they saw a flop and Kassouf led out over 100,000 with 500,000 behind

Davies pushed two stacks of 500,000 each over the line as his raise and Kassouf went into verbal overdrive, rationalising his choices and trying to fish for information

Davies remained impassive as Kassouf put him on a big combination draw and decided that he was probably ahead but hadn’t called as they were on the seat bubble

Eventally he folded, top pair he said and asked Davies to show. which he did which makes that a good read

Title: chip leaders

Break and a double up

Players are now on a break.

just before they left Neil Sllick doubled through Adam Neal, shoving A-4 and getting called by A-7

the run out was a cruel/fantastic depending on who you were K-8-2-A-4

Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 02, 2016, 05:33:37 PM
Two more exits

Ravi Sharda down to 120,000 at 20-40k, in the small blind folded to him

shoved “nine high like a boss” according to the watching Kassouf. 9-7 suited

Tom High in the big blind is calling with any two, and does with 7-3cc

the flop comes 9c-7c-x

and Tom spikes the ace of clubs on the turn

Shola Deadman raises and Seb Pawlak calls in the big blind

flop comes 6-2-10

check

Shola c bets

Seb check raises all in, covered

Shola calls with K-10o

Seb is drawing thin with K-Qo, only one live overcard

the 6 turn and 4 river are now help and we are down to 13

Title: Steve Jelinek out 13th
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 02, 2016, 05:45:03 PM
Steve Jelinek out 13th

Martyn Frey raises and Jelinek calls in the big blind

7-A-Q flop

check check

Jelinek leads the 4 turn, Frey moves in and Jelinek calls all in

Frey has been cute with A-A flop flopped top set and Jelinek has A-4 having caught the case ace on the flop

meanwhile Will Kassouf has doubled. Peter Smith raised and Will shoved his last 8x bb in the big blind with A-2

Peter called with K-Q and Will faded two live cards on 8-6-7-9-4

Title: who is left?

Title: Adam Neal finishes 12th
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 02, 2016, 06:05:51 PM
Adam Neal finishes 12th

Andrew Hulme raises, Adam Neal shoves and Mark Elliott re-shoves

Hulme folds

Neal A-10

Elliott A-K

Elliott flops a King to take us two away from the final table

Title: double trouble
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 02, 2016, 06:10:03 PM
double trouble

Peter Smith doubles up

Rob Davies raises on the button and Smith all in for 325,000 in the small blind

Shola all in big blind

Davies, it turns out, has looked at an ace and raised and now slowly reveals his other card to himself….and folds

Smith 5-5

Shola A-8

3-J-Q-6-K for Smith to survive

Kassouf is probably the short-stack of the 11, and managing to chatter his way through all the pots he is involved in

Shola raised to 85,000 and Kassouf flatted in position

J-3-6 rainbow flop

“Shola, don’t bet, have king jack”

Shola c-bets

“Shola, were you like this in school? Tell you not to do something and you do the opposite?”

Shola, with an air of someone who has heard all this stuff before, repeatedly, ignores him

“have king of spades, jack of clubs” says Will. “I reckon you have ace high, probably one over to beat me”

“you can’t call, i am all in”

and his 425,000 is over the line

Shola passes, and Will carries on grinding. The table is delighted.

Title: Will with Grace
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 02, 2016, 06:26:03 PM
Will with Grace

Rob Davies opens to 125,000 at 25-50k

Chi Zhang calls

Will Kassouf makes it 350,000 on the button

Davies folds

“oh, you didn’t have it then. I have it” says Will

“Ihave got a big pair. if you’ve got ace high you have three outs, if you’ve got a pocket pair you have two outs. your choice” he says to Zhang

who takes this as his cue to set will in, and will insta-calls with Kings

well, he did warn him.

Zhang 10-10

J-9-8 flop to make it interesting

4 turn

8 river

Kassouf now on over 1m and getting back in it

Title: Final
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 02, 2016, 06:48:34 PM
Final

in a flurry of action Chi Zhang finished 11th shoving A-Jinto Rob Davies A-Q

Shola Deadman then finished 10th

she raised and tom high shoved 18xbb in the blinds with A-J. Shola called with A-K but tom spiked a jack to double

left with 5x bb she button shoved A-3 And high called with J-8, and hit another jack to knock her out

Haha, I'll leave that to tighty.

I don't know who he thinks he is to commentate on hands that are played err differently 🙄

One chap in the chat box tore into me for being "disrespectful" to Will in fairly colourful language

not sure I was, not really my style and certainly not intentional but equally I do think if you are commentating you can give an opinion on hands and question plays as part of the discussion whilst of course accepting that:

a) they are playing for big money
b) you can see all the cards and can do all final so have more perfect info to go on.

the one that caused the issue was when five handed Will called J-2cc to a raise and got into trouble.

Tbf you were very kind/generous in your commentary of various people's play (as is required I guess), don't see how anyone could complain you were being critical

:( tilt that I didn't bet small turn and jam river with K3s

Ahh, I've just realised you were K3 guy. Will outplayed you on that hand right? :)

I thought it was the K3 v 910 hand? Anyways, wouldn't worry about it, you were only saying what most people were thinking.

Played with you towards end of Day2 mate.... Well played for getting the FT result.

The K3s vs 910o hand was kinda weird.... I've spoken to Will since then and wondered what was going through his head and generally think he is just leaving himself 4bbs if you jam river which seems kinda iffy..... Small bet on turn then jamming river works for sure.

I wrote in the chat that you were doing a great job, getting a lot more right than wrong, and that it was your job to give your take on how the hands were played. Peeling J2s and 45s from late position from <20bbs is fairly indefensible anyway lol. If you didn't give your opinion what would you talk about?

The play that deserved the most berating was Tom's K3 check on the river vs Will which you kindly let slide :P
