Simon Trumper

The dangerman in Day 2 of the £250K Grand Prix at DTD this weekend could be 79 year old, Paul Yong - yes Rob's Dad! He has 185K chips, blinds start at 1k-2k so 87 bigs. Highly unpredictable player!

So far we have 1200 entries for this Grand Prix, the GTE is £250K sterling so we need 3333 equivalent entries.

You can buy in at DTD for £75+£10 or play online on partypoker. Remaining Live Day 1s are Fri (5pm and 8pm at DTD) and Sat (1pm 5pm 8pm), there are Online Day 1s Fri and Sat at 7pm and 9pm, that leaves 9 in total.

On Day 2 at 12pm the blinds are rolled back to 1k-2k (average 100 bigs) and same as the Grand Prix in Canada - players still have the option to buy into Day 2 for £550 and get a 200k stack.

Good luck all - Aces

Numbers rising

71 in now at the start of level 2, on 8 tables. Plenty of room for more as people leave work and fight their way through the rush hour traffic

Title: A tight fold?
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 14, 2016, 06:45:06 PM
A tight fold?

starting with 30,000 at 75-150

Aman Pau raised to 300 and Arturs Apalais called

Anish Raja 3 bet to 725

both blinds, Robert Martin and Lauren Render called, while the original raiser/caller folded

three way to a flop it was checked to Raja and he led for 1125

Martin check raised to 3000 and Render folded

Raja takes a peek at his cards and contemplates life and the universe

I stand poised, this could be an interesting hand…..

I wait, and Raja folds the nut flush draw showing the table, hence i can report it.

Title: After you, No after you
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 14, 2016, 07:16:05 PM
After you, No after you

Lauren Render opens to 600 UTG at 150-300 and Aman Pau makes it 12000 in mid position

Robert Martin calls in the big blind and Render calls

check to Pau who makes it 2,500

Render the only caller

check check on the turn

Render checks again with a thump of the table on the river

Pau thinks, and thinks.

Several minutes pass. Time almost stands still

I wait. And wait.

Eventually Pau pipes up the words no one wants to hear

“is it on me?”

Render “yes i checked straight away”

“Oh” says Pau

“Oh” say the table

It is like the script from a Pinter play.

Render “I thought you were cooking up something devious”

Pau “Oh. No. I wasn’t. Check”

Render “I’ve got a jack”

Pau “I’ve got a Queen”

and shows to win the pot.

Title: More than one way to win a pot
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 14, 2016, 07:40:43 PM
More than one way to win a pot

Milan Harper limps for 300

Vincent Sanchez makes it 1000

Gary O’Farrell calls in the big blind

Harper calls telling us “its my favourite hand”

and they see a flop

O’Farrell leads for 1,000

Harper calls

Sanchez launches his last 10,000 over the line with a flourish

O’Farrell folds

Harper tells us “told you it was my favourite hand” and calls flipping over

I didn’t expect to see Sanchez turn over which he justifies with some chatter

the turn comes the

Sanchez is animated “any diamond. any ten”

the river is….

Sanchez doubles and has the good grace to look a little sheepish

That’s what comes of playing your favourite hand Mr Harper.

Justin?

A table animatedly calls me over and tell me “look its justin Bieber” “isn’t it?”

the chap in question is Toby Wainwright who is snapped after a nice pot

A raise and a call and he calls in the big blind with A-3

it comes 4-3-3.

Nice.

It’s checked round

the turn is a perfect card, the Ace

he checks again, the original raiser bets and the caller shoves

Toby makes a brave call with the full house and stacks A-K

“I thought it was a set up”

With 365 left and down to 38 tables there is a bit of room for me to get around now

I passed one table as John Kitchen raised to 10,500 at 2500-5000

Sylvia Hewitt made it 25,000 on the button

Kitchen paused an called

both playing 200-250k

the flop came 6-Q-8 rainbow

Kitchen checks

Hewitt 10,000

Call

Sylvia raises an eyebrow and peers across at her opponent, quizzically

turn J. still no flush draws

Kitchen check calls 25,000

Sylvia repeats the eybrow trick.

river 7

check, check

Sylvia flips over Aces

When Kitchen mucks she says “Oh, i won, i was convinced you were trapping me with something”

Title: Off to the races
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 16, 2016, 05:49:24 PM
Off to the races

It’s getting to that stage for a lot of players, playing 10-30x bb

Matt Eardley raised playing 350,000 in the cut off, over a limper, to 30,000

Jim Moult in the big blind is playing 170,000 and looks down at

He shoves, the limper folds and Eardley has a ticklish one with

he calls and the flop is a fun one for the watcher

Moult is still live, needing a diamond or ten

turn

river

and he misses and is out

Puts Eardley in a very healthy position

Title: Kings for Alan?
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 16, 2016, 05:52:20 PM
Kings for Alan?

Alan Vinnicombe opens to 25,000 and finds one caller.

The 6, 9, 10 flop incites Alan to ask his opponent

‘How much have you got?’

With haste his opponent flicks out a 100,000 chip from the bottom of his tower of 5K’s.

‘Ah, that’s a 100K. 100,000 please.’ As Alan makes his C bet.

His opponent sigh folds to which Alan flashed two picture cards as he folds telling the player to his right ‘It was two Kings.’

Title: some names to consider
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 16, 2016, 05:55:04 PM
some names to consider

these names may be familiar to you, amongst the field left in

Skalie is battling away with a sub average stack. He had A-Q v 2-2 on A-Q-2, an unavoidable spot which doubled up his opponent and when i asked him for a chip count a few minutes later he said “B-O-W-L spells bowl” Which was helpful of him

Rob Sherwood and Dominic Kay have been on the same table all day

Andrew Hulme is on the top tier

James Ablott is on his table

Rehman Kassam is wearing a Cinese Frankie t-shirt and looks to have a nice stack

Dewi James still in, Tom High i saw

Nick Todd and Raine Hilson i saw in the distance on tables i can’t get to

Martyn Frey still in, Tina Bandyle too

Cat Winch-Johnson still in.

they are coming to a break after level 24 so i will go round the empty tables then and get some accurate chip counts

Title: Looking for the Million
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 16, 2016, 06:06:33 PM
Looking for the Million

Raine Hilson has roughly 900,000 chips & is heading for the million mark.

She calls 25,000 from an early position raise and the big blind completes behind her.

The on the flop brings no action. Checks all round.

She leads for 37,000 after the on the turn, just the initial raiser finding the call.

The rolls off on the river and after a quick check of her opponents stack she sets him in.

He folds and Raine adds to her towers.

Title: A battle royal

A battle royal

Mick Fletcher from Blackpol has become a regular at the bigger DTD Tournaments and up on table 78, right at the top of the room he had 600,000 and in a great battle with a player i haven’t seen before playing 800,000

His name is Catalia Geangos, and he has position on Mick. Unfortunately i think its a table that is due to break soon

there are 240 left, 130 paid by the way.

Title: The raiser the victor
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 16, 2016, 06:21:09 PM
The raiser the victor

Nadeeka Victor opens to 25,000 at 6-12k and William Bishop is all in on the button for 170,000

Victor calls for most of his stack with 10-10 and exclaims when he finds Bishop has Jacks

3-K-3 flop

A Ten on the turn sees shop stand up and then depart when the Ace on the river does not save him

Title: ‘Running all over it’
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 16, 2016, 06:40:38 PM
‘Running all over it’

Dave Quince is on a table with Jonty Willis, it makes for some good entertainment.

Dave opens UTG+2, everyone folds and he shows A Q.

‘Dave is running over the table,’ quips Jonty.

I stick around for the next hand to see an open UTG and a call from Jonty.

The flop of generates plenty of action.

A 30K c-bet was met by a 3-bet from Jonty to 75K. After some time in the tank we see a 4-bet up to 155K. Jonty shoves and his opponent goes into the tank. The clock is called and eventually we see a fold.

I’ve never seen anyone so excited to turn over Aces and follow it up with:

‘I need people to know I can flat with Aces.’

You heard it here first people.

Title: Six Appeal
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 16, 2016, 06:55:42 PM
Six Appeal

Simon He opens to 37,000

Alan Armitage makes it 100,000. With Aces

Simon shoves for 500,000

playing 400,000 Aan understandably calls all in

Simon has Sixes

Spikes a Six on the flop to knock Alan out and go to nearly 1m chips with 200 left

actionjack is still in. Skalie has recovered from under 100,000 to a near average stack. Dewi James still in

chip leader might be Raine Hillson

She just knocked out a player, all the chips in on A-5-8-4

She had A-J, covering her opponent comfortably

Opponent A-4

River 5 to counterfeit the two pair

As is the way of things these days, he stood up, asked the dealer not to clear the cards away for a second, took a picture of the community cards, posted it as a facebook status update!

after a prolonged bubble

we are in the money with 135 left at 20-40k, average 700,000

trying to spot the exit across 16 tables, i found myself at one end of the card-room while the exit took place two tiers away

i followed the action from “oohs” and “aaahs” until the TD announced

“well done everyone you are now in the money”

for £500.

and a big cheer went across the card-room. From all but one person.

Title: Down to 100
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 16, 2016, 09:34:23 PM
Down to 100

Unsurprisingly the pace has quickened after the bubble. We’ve lost 30 players in the elvel after and there is a long queue at the payout desk

Rob Sherwood has been nursing a shortstack and just took his KJ v 77

10-9-7-2-Q to river the double up

meanwhile i saw an interesting hand

Simon He opened to 50,000

Neil Leicester called on the button

John Hird shoved 200,000 in the big blind

He called

Leicester now calls off around 40% of his stack with A-6 to take both on

He A-Jcc

Hird 10-10

Jack high flop to treble He up

A long hand

i was watching before the break

Warrey Aspey from Liverpool raised to 140,000 at 30-60k

shortstack Paul Mallett all in 170,000

in the big blind Aman Pau all in 1.27m

This prompts an agonised 10 minute contortion from Aspey, for most of his stack

prodding Pau for information, saying he had a massive hand, banging his heel into the floor in frustration

eventually he folded

Mallett 10-10 trebled through Pau A-K

Aspey says he folded the same hand as Pau

Title: Taylor made
Post by: dtd_live_updates on October 16, 2016, 11:06:02 PM
Taylor made

Guy Taylor has been going along nicely as we go under 70 players left

He opened to 160,000 at 40-80k and a shorter stack in the big blind shoved for 440,000

Quick think and a call and Taylor finds himself with A-Jss v K-Qo to knock a player out

An Ace on the flop seals the deal, Taylor now on over 1.5m
