Title: Chicago?
Post by: Woodsey on March 27, 2017, 01:31:09 PM
Anyone been?

Will probs only have a day spare around a work trip but would be good to know what good stuff there is to do, doesn't really hit the radar too much as a tourist I guess. Will look to see if any of the sports are on obviously....

worked there for a week 15 years ago

if you are going april-oct you simply have to get to wrigley field, home of the chicago cubs, if they are playing when you are there

iconic stadium, really quite something different to experience and they are the current world series champions

--

sears tower/willis tower skydeck is a must too

Cubs was the first thing I looked for, seems the dates I have free they are playing away unfortunately, will check the others in due course.

white sox in the south side of the city. modern stadium, still worth a trip but more missable than a cubs one especially if you are limited for time

lots and lots of culture in chicago (museums, gallaries, concerts etc) and great architecture (boat ride along the river through the centre is good)

Chicago is my favourite city in the USA.

As TightEnd mentioned, make sure you do the Chicago Architecture River Cruise (reviews can be found on TripAdvisor) - I always recommend this and feedback every time is positive.  You can do Navy Pier at the same time and then wander down Michigan Avenue.

In the evening, go bar hopping on Rush Street and catch some live blues/jazz.

Nice of Tikay to show you the places you want to swerve, too.
