Title: Royal Ascot 2017
Post by: PokerBroker on June 19, 2017, 12:06:26 AM
So lets be having all your best selections for Ascot alongside any special offers you see that we should be taking advantage of.  No doubt there will be selection a plenty for Fred but with Tikay and Tighty both on a Jolly there might be a lack of posting on there.

It looks like it's going to be proper fast ground with predicted sunshine.

I'm probably going to take a few days off to watch the lot and enjoy a few cold ones while doing so.

So you are a fan of the Monarchy, and our wonderful Royal Family, after all.

Can we expect to see you applauding the Royal Procession, bowing as Her Majesty passes by, and enthusiastically waving the Union Jack?

Never mind all this horse racing, is there a 'what colour hat will the Queen wear' market we can get stuck into?

Royal Ascot?  Really?  Stratford and Uttox jumps tomorrow and Wednesday with the Greyhound derby inbetween on Tues night at Towcester.  What a lovely little road trip around the Midlands in the sun.  No fancy dress required either.  Shorts and flip flops fine at all venues

I'm going for gold.:

Ribchester - Queen Anne
Kings Stand - Lady Aurelia
Prince of Wales - Jack Hobbs
Norfolk - McErin
Gold Cup - Order of St George
Commonwealth - Caravaggio
St James Palace - Barney Roy

£50 acca.  If that wins I'm taking 3 month off going to Portugal for 8 weeks and Vegas for the Main Event.  ( I can dream)

1-3 RyRy is buying money. Wins easily barring unforeseens.

Double Ryan @ 1-3 with Mayweather @ 1-6, comes to almost 4-7. Luvverly.

Can't see Moore not winning top Jock.

Thought Frankie might be worth a tickle at the prices though.

Missing all this as going to Vegas (thin).  Good luck all.

FWIW arbboy not sure the dress code is the deciding factor.  I went to York on Saturday and there were 4 handicaps with over 16 runners.

Where we were, every single bookie bar 1 was going a fifth first 4.  I was reading through the racecard and there was some guff saying that every bookie had to offer at least a fifth first 4 when over 16 runners.  How is that protecting the punters?  When did this become nornal?

Would defo wear a jacket to get quarter first 4.

WOn't be having many issues with EW terms at Uttox and Stratford tomorrow.  Small fields, low margins the bookies bet to.  Win only is the order of the day.  1/5 1,2,3,4 is minimum standards required to offer on course 16-19 runners,  1/4 1,2,3,4 for 20+ runners.  Some of the traditional old school layers still offer 1/4 on 16+ plus the high st firms on course as well.  Just a case of shopping around.

I got 5/6 in my acca of first 3 in the betting.  Pretty unlucky today in that the one that beat me was literally a toss up, would have been a stonking Ascot had that came in.  Cheerfilly was the culprit today.

As a Stella man I thought Arb would be on the Special T when he was on a racing jolly.

Anyway time to get the thread back on track who's punting.

I've got a few of Channings and a few of my own.  #Bawdeep

Just a bit.

As you know, he generally puts up 2 or 3 per race, but he had a spiffing day.

7/1 place in the 1st.

11/1 winner in the 2nd.

16/1 place in the 3rd.

5/2 winner in the 4th

16/1 winner, 25/1 3rd & 25/1 4th in the last.

I cant get on from out here, but Tighty always puts these on for me without me even asking, so I got the lot. That's right Tighty, yes? You did get me on, yeah?

You'd think he spent a lot of time on here, with him wanting a holiday and that...

I might be evening-ish, as I need to go register for Sunday at the Rio, and could swing by on the way back to the cheap streets.

Thread hijacked by those pesky gamblers in Vegas.

What we flicking it in on today gamblers?

My biggest swet of the day is likely to be Jack Hobbs it's leg 4 of my ante post 7 fold.

I have a few of Channings selections and a few of my own the ones I liked were:

Race 1 - Daban. Mrs Gallagher
Race 2 - Happy like a Fool
Race 3 - GretaG - this is an unknown.
Race 4 - Jack Hobbs
Race 5 - Banksea, Yuften, Hors De Combat
Race 6 - Silibance, Queen of Time

Couple of lucky 15's with them as well and a placepot.

I had 3 winners and a place from first four races in 5/6folds e/w.

Had George William and El VIP in that last race.

George William beaten by the draw and El VIP never given a chance by fucking Spencer, sitting at the back likes it's 3 furlongs longer to the finish.

He must know it's almost impossible to win from there in a sprint like that?  Fuming.

The horse's last 2 wins came when held up and it finished last when challenging the leaders.  Seems the tactics were obvious.  Quite a long sprint too.

Nothing from off the pace had a chance tbf. If a frontrunner wins a cavalry charge it can only ever be down to the fact that they haven't gone that quick in front. Horses like this are never winning that sort of race, whoever's on top.

Anyway Harbour Law looks a very good bet to me in the Gold Cup.  Something like 37 on the machine.  Ran badly last time, but it was first race of the season and shaped like he needed a big trip last season.  Obv could fail horribly after the last race, but that is in price.

Away from all the diva bollocks at RA there look to be four big name trainers/jockeys travelling a fair distance for only one runner/ride at Marker Rasen over the jumps today.  Always like these angles at the best of times but especially when they are the 'away' meeting on the day to RA/Cheltenham.

Bowens travels 260 miles to run/ride Earthmoves 355 MR for one runner/ride
Nicholls/STDavies on Moabit 320 MR 215 miles for one runner/ride
NeilMulholland/Noel Fehily on Kristal Hart 210 MR 194 miles for one runner/ride
Ronan McNally comes from Ireland (two runners) one of them has Richard Johnson's only ride of the day Da Baba Elephant 435 MR.

Think you could do worse for a lucky 15 today than bang these four 'triers' in together.

50% strike rate can't be bad well done

Backed Da baba Elephant on its own for a nice profit, now reinvested the profit on an apprentice i sponsor in the last race taking 6/1 a place on Duffy Allen

Cheese and onion on you Trev!

Of course

Great 5 days. Loved it.

My wife even watched it and enjoyed the antics of Matt Chapman. She has no interest in betting but thought the coverage was more entertaining than Channel 4.

Racing definitely needs to appeal to a wider audience.

I think recruiting Ollie Bell and Francesca Cumani is working out especially well as they already know everyone in racing.

Personally I showed a nice little profit thanks to following Hugh Taylor's selections mostly.
