An exciting new addition to the FPL landscape, as they’ve added a Draft game and hopefully we’ll get enough entries to get one or more leagues running. All leagues will be restricted to Blonde only, but if we’re struggling for numbers I will open it up to all comers.

DRAFT DAY WILL BE SUNDAY 6TH AUGUST! DRAFTS WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE AFTERNOON/EVENING, EXACT TIMING TO BE CONFIRMED UPON LEAGUES FILLING. NOTE THAT A DRAFT WILL LAST APPROX 30-45 MINUTES YOU WON’T NEED TO GIVE UP YOUR ENTIRE DAY FOR IT.

Leagues:

1) £20 Classic (Max 8 players, pay top two, £100, £60)
A £20 classic league, with a maximum of eight players. If we get more than eight but, for example, less than 16, then we’ll evenly split the numbers into two leagues.

2) £20 H2H (Max 8 players, pay top two £100, £60)
As above, but this time played in the H2H format, with a maximum of eight players. If we get more than eight but, for example, less than 16, then we’ll evenly split the numbers into two leagues.


PRACTICE DRAFTS: I will attempt to run practice drafts before Sunday 6th August so everyone who has entered can get used to how it works.

HOW DOES IT DIFFER FROM REGULAR FPL?
1) Only one manager in each league may own any given player. E.g. only one manager has Harry Kane
2) There are no captains or vice-captains in Draft FPL
3) There is no squad budget
4) There is no limit to how many players you can own from each team
5) There are no limits or costs to weekly transfers

I CAN’T MAKE THE DATE OF THE DRAFT CAN I STILL PLAY? Yes, you can set up a watchlist of players and your squad will be selected that way. I’m not going to lie though, you will be at a disadvantage if you can’t make the draft. But leagues are won or lost based on transfers made throughout the season, in my opinion.

Payment: In order of preference:

1) Bank – when sending please include your Blonde Name (FPL) as the ref: e.g. Tikay (FPL)
2) Paypal – make sure you use the send to friend/family option otherwise I will not receive the full amount and you will not be entered into the league.
3) Stars – send in £ (Pounds) only please.

If you're interested, send myself and/or Mark_Porter a pm with what leagues you want to play and, once payment is received, one of us will send you the codes.

A couple of notes if you’ve never played a Draft league before:

a) if you’re the type to give up after a few weeks this league is not for you because…
b) draft is a lot more hands on than classic FPL. If you log on every Friday and spend 10 minutes on this, you will be dead money.

I’m not going to run any free leagues, but if you like the sound of this but don’t want to play for money then please feel free to start a new thread and find participants that way.

Please note entry for this will close at 8pm on Friday August 4th to allow for time for the leagues to be set up and codes sent before the drafts on Sunday 6th August.

I've been asked what will happen if we get a number greater than 8 but less than 16. Whilst eight is the ideal number, if we have 10 or less then we will run it as one league. If we reach 12 or more then we will split into two leagues. If exactly 11 then sadly the last entrant will be refunded.

For full disclosure if we have to split the leagues, or get more than one league, then the players will be split based on 'FPL History'. In practice this means that anyone entering the £50/£100 leagues in FPL will be placed in the same league and those who usually enter the Free, £10 leagues etc will be placed into the same league as best as it is possible to do. I feel this is fairer than a random draw.

Dino if it's 11 surely someone can enter both drafts to make it 2 leagues of 6

I hope nobody minds, but in an effort to get the numbers up to 16 I'm going to invite the non blondes who played last year's draft league to join. I believe that's two people total. It'd be great to get this to 16 in both leagues.

if you need someone to enter twice to make up numbers let me know i am sure there are plenty of folk willing to do so and end up in 3 or 4 leagues

It's a fair idea and I'm open to people doing that, but they'd have to be aware that they'd be drafting for two leagues at once, which could be tricky. One on the computer, one on smart phone/tablet I guess though could make it manageable.

i have 2 screens on my pc so it should be possible

We have 13 in each league and if Ironside wants to enter twice that takes us to 14 in both. So two leagues of seven in Classic and two leagues of seven in H2H.

If anyone else wants to enter twice then shout now please, otherwise we will be going with two leagues of seven in each discipline.

Any word on the test draft please? It says I have to enter a league to even see the layout etc so no idea how it works.

Also - real draft times clash with the Leeds match (my team). Doh! Too late to change this I know - I'll record the match and try and avoid the score :)

Everyone in the £20 Brunson Leagues should by now have received the codes to enter if you haven't then please PM me.

Mark has been rather busy going deep in The Goliath but is going to set The Ivey leagues up later tonight or tomorrow morning, so everyone in those leagues please check your inbox for messages.

One point of business is that I'm yet to hear back from Peter-27 about this leagues and I have a feeling he's not going to register for the leagues, which will leave the Ivey leagues one short. If this is the case then does anyone from the Brunson leagues want to enter twice? If not I will enter both leagues to make up the numbers.

Just so people are aware, I am unlikely to be online when the actual draft is taking place. I have selected an extensive watch list for both leagues so this will kick in and select my players.

Hi Mark... any update on the payouts for the Ivey Leagues?

Top 2 for the Ivey League (6 runners), winner takes all for the H2H (5 runners).

£90 for winner, £30 for second for the Ivey sound OK? £100 for winner of the H2H.

Just looking at the table in the Brunson H2H league and noticed if i fluke a win vrs shut the window and leeroy fails to beat average then average will be heading to the top of the table

I thought this when I saw the early season form of average but then noticed it's average from the main game so includes Captain points and people using the power chips etc so likely tips the balance a little more in its favour. Suspect it will drop away as the season progresses as the main game starts to see more dormant accounts and their injuries tot up etc.

for example last week 7 teams between scored 290 points average was 41.4 average score was 41

in ivey league its between noose's googe (you?) and use the forster (mark)

It's easy to lose interest if one is behind in the league. I wonder if splitting the season into 2 halves with 2 auctions (one after the Christmas rush) would keep interest going?

The thing the leagues lack imho is flexabilty have to have 3 strikers 5 kids etc makes it hard

Tried to chase you all the way but a poor draft cost me with no Liverpool or City assets. I made over 450 transfers across both leagues!!

Thanks Mark..... I can't take much credit unfortunately. I lucked out with getting Salah in both leagues I was in. Got him as a 5th round pick because there were no "good" players left!

A top of the table clash between Average and Shut the Window this weekend could decide the destiny of the title. Average continues to crush the H2H Brunson League, gonna have to get some tips from that manager! Fortunately, he didn't pay an entry fee so is ineligible for prizes.

The Classic is mine to lose and Kolpak looks safe in second, but with a double gameweek and GW38 madness to come, who knows.

£90/£50 payouts for first and second in both leagues with seven entrants in each.

Sane, Fernandinho and a couple of Man U clean sheets scaped me over the line to just beat the average! Was worried after the first round of games that saw me quite a lot behind with others showing bench points due to come into play too. Still hopeful I can get ahead of average to finish but need a little help from Stephen and to win my final game to get there. Flip side is I can still be caught by Gareth in the final week! Have to be honest i’ll be gutted if I fall at the final hurdle with that goal difference and after bricking everything in the main FPL this season - 4 top 20k finishes in a row followed by a 400k+ finish! Shocker!


Had a good week in the Brunson classic too but 12 points off 2nd likely a little too much to claw back in the final game week.

Personally really enjoyed the draft format overall - ir’s My first experience of it and it’s kept my attention with the transfer system etc. Let’s hope a few teams load up on more attacking prowess for next season as it seems decent striker points are hard to come by!

You had a fantastic week, all but secured the H2H title given you're playing a dead team in your last match. But, this is draft and anything could happen.

The teamsheets for the last game of the season always throw up some surprises, 12 points is definitely doable but with Kolpak having Salah, Firmino and Jesus it's very much advantage to him.

I've enjoyed draft again and the FPL interface has got better as the season has gone along. I'll almost certainly be running a World Cup draft on the same site I ran Draft leagues for Euro 2016/2016-17 FPL season.

One tweak I may consider for next season is running shorter leagues, over on FISO I've played in draft leagues where the season is only 10 weeks long, it definitely helps keep interest and there was promotion/relegation between leagues too. One to ponder during the off season anyway.

I also think H2H works better for draft than the Classic format.

i have really enjoyed the leagues this year though i am thinking we need atleast 8 players in a league

also would prefer it if we could have bigger rosters say 18 players with 3 wildcard spots to make trading more of an option

yeah totally prefer the H2H league cause even after a bad start you just need a run of games to get back into it though maybe not as bad a start as i had in the ivey with 1 win in 10 and 2 in 14, losing my first 7 matches

I enjoyed both tbh I think the h2h format gives it a more an element of luck it reminds me of old days of playing fantasy league happy to go again next season

I enjoyed it too, definitely play again next year.  I actually think fewer players would be better., more legitimate big hitters to go around and trades would be more interesting.
