5. £30 Cups package (open to all)
Open to all comers. Again the cups have a lot of variance. There will be a Champions League (£15), an FA Cup (£10) and a League Cup (£5).

Do we sign up separately for the Champions league (15), FA cup (10) etc or is it an all or nothing deal?

Yes, FPL is back for the 17/18 season. Big thanks to Greg/Tom for running the leagues with such efficiency.

They’ve handed that responsibility over to Mark_Porter and myself and the good news is that apart from that very little else has changed. The only addition to last year’s leagues is one extra mid-tier Classic league and the ability to enter two of the real money Classic leagues, as there were a few requests to be able to play more than one.

CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES IS 12 PM BST FRIDAY 11TH AUGUST

The season starts on a Friday this year, I’m very likely to be travelling on this date and will not be glued to Blonde, so if at all possible get your entries in before the 11th.

This thread is for classic FPL, for Draft FPL details see here: http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=67693.0

Entry is open to Blonde members only (over three months and over 30 posts) unless otherwise stated.

Classic Leagues:

1. Free League
Open to all Blonde members. There will be a £20 prize for the winner and £10 for 2nd place. These prizes are strictly for players that haven't won a prize in the pay leagues.

2. £10 Classic
Open to all Blonde members, except those who’ve entered the £100 league. You can only play two of the real money classic leagues though.

3. £25 Classic (NEW).
Open to all Blonde members. Open to all Blonde members, except those who’ve entered the £100 league. You can only play two of the real money classic leagues though.

3. £50 Classic.
Open to all Blonde members, you can only enter two of the classic leagues though.

Notes: As stated above you can only enter two of the real money leagues. The only caveat to this is that any Blonde who enters the £100 Classic may, in addition, only enter the £50 Classic league to stop any gaming of the system or sharking the £10/£25 leagues.

Open to all:

4. £20 H2H (open to all)
Open to all comers. The H2H format lends to more variance so outside 'sharks' aren't particularly favoured.

5. £30 Cups package (open to all)
Open to all comers. Again the cups have a lot of variance. There will be a Champions League (£15), an FA Cup (£10) and a League Cup (£5).

6. £20 Last Man Standing. (open to all)
Open to all comers. As it says. The lowest scoring player in the league is eliminated every week until you have the last man standing.

7. £100 Classic (open to all)
Open to all comers.

Payment:

In order of preference:

1) Bank – when sending please include your Blonde Name (FPL) as the ref: e.g. Tikay (FPL)
2) Paypal – make sure you use the send to friend/family option otherwise I will not receive the full amount and you will not be entered into the league.
3) Stars – send in £ (Pounds) only, please.

If you're interested, send me and/or Mark_Porter a pm with what leagues you want to play and, once payment is received, one of us will send you the codes.

Any questions, please fire away.

Hi mate

I entered last years leagues courtesy of speaking to Tom via Facebook, the season before I entered via posting after Tom alerted me to this league on 2+2. My username is THEGOATIAN on that forum.

Anyway he said that the £100 league was open to anybody, not just active blonde members, and from what I can garner from your very detailed post that seems to be the case again this year. If my understanding is indeed correct I would love to play the £100 classic again and in-fact I was lucky enough to win it last year so it would be nice to defend the title!

My problem being I am unable to send PM's whatsoever, I believe this may be an issue with my lack of activity and/or low post count. Can anybody help me in regards to pointing me in the right direction. I will happily send by Paypal. Sorry for the long post.

Thank you

Morning bud.

Yes, you need to have made 10 (TEN) posts before you can send PM's.

Once that is achieved, your PM function should work normally.

I'm sure, between us, we can get you up to 10 posts reasonably quickly.

Look around the other threads, the Betting ones, or football team threads, & make a few observations.

PS - What team do you support?

Hi Dino i got your PM on 2+2 but I'll respond here to get this post count rising.

Sent the money and thanks for the welcoming hospitality mate. I hope Silkworms does join us again this year, I'm sure he will want his crown back and I doubt he'll ever go without Kane again!

Tikay, I'm a Man City fan as I am from Manchester of course, and yes before you all start chanting in unison, I was there when we were shit! I'll probably post around the betting forum as I do love a good bet.

Cheers guys

Hi there, you're welcome to join leagues 4,5,6 and 7 but you'll need to reach 30 posts before you can enter league no 3 (£50 classic or £25 classic, I number both of those 3, oops). There are plenty of threads around here to get involved with. Maybe tell us about your Blonde Username?

Nice one, I studied in Swansea so have a soft spot for them. They were playing at The Vetch back when I lived there though. In all honesty, I should hate The Swans as you sent my side (Exeter City) out of the Football league whilst I was living in Swansea. What are your thoughts on Swansea's prospects for this season? Do you think Clement can turn them into a stable mid-table side, or will the loss of Gylfi's guile (if he goes) and dead ball ability mean you're in for another relegation scrap?

Ah nice, ever make it to the Vetch? Still miss that place, even though it was a heap of shit lol.
That would be 03 then when we beat Hull on the last day.
Think it all depends on who replaces him (pretty certain he's going), Clement seems to know his stuff, he's got rid of most of the deadwood in the squad and if he can find a decent replacement and maybe another player or 2 with the Gylfi cash, think We'll end up around 14th.q

Hey, I would like a go at this but don't have the 30 post requirement it states in op. Up for 1,2,3 and 5 if possible.

Happy to have you enter league no 5, but for the others you'll need to reach 30 posts. Take a look around the forum and get involved. What team do you support?

Ok cheers, will pm in a bit to do no5 and sort out the others when I've built up more posts.
I'm a Swansea City supporter/season ticket holder for my troubles.

Never did make it to The Vetch, I had a Saturday job and played Uni football on Wednesdays, which then involved drinking in the evenings, ruling out most chances to make it to watch a game. You improved a lot defensively under Clement, so even if you lose Gylfi I think you'll be ok.

What do you make of Abraham? I'm eyeing him up as a cheap third striker for FPL, do you expect him to start and do you think he'll play once Llorente is back?

Post by: Dacorb on August 03, 2017, 10:31:29 AM
Haven't seen Abraham play personally but reports have been very good. Not sure he starts above a fully fit Llorente think Clement likes a target man but the club have already said Llorente will miss the first game away to Southampton due to injury.

Still time to enter. Please note.

1) I've extended the entry time until 5pm on Friday. I'm travelling on this day and will have, quite possibly, have limited access to Blonde.

2) For the avoidance of doubt please note that the LMS and Cup comps will not start until GW4 at the earliest. The exact start dates will be determined by how many players we end up with in each of those leagues.

3) I've updated the OP to reflect the above.

Post by: dino1980 on August 23, 2017, 06:12:35 PM
Please see a breakdown on the league prizes for the various Blonde FPL leagues 2017/2018.

Please note:

1) LMS will start in GW14
2) I've decided to leave entry to the £30 Cups package open to members of Blonde Poker until the start of GW6 as there are 26 entrants so far and it'd be great to bump this up to at least 28 and preferably 32. If you'd like to join please DM me.

How the cups will work:

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Dazzler did a great job setting up the format for these and the only thing that will change is when they start. They'll still be over before DGW madness kicks in. If we fall short of the 32 runners then instead of byes we'll fill the gaps with 'Average GW score' they'll be interspersed throughout the draw so that the chances of an Average vs Average matchup are all but impossible.

Schedule and rules:

We're following the format of the League Cup/FA Cup/Champions League as much as possible.
We're scheduled to start with the League Cup in GW8.
When the total number of entrants are known I'll get an independent party to administer the draw. It'll be H2H knockout and there will be 6 GWs play. The semi finals will be 2 leg affairs.
If we get a tie, the League Cup does not have replays so we'll go to a 'penalty shootout' tie break. The tie break will be the same as the ingame FPL Cup tiebreak.
If a cup match is drawn, then the following tie-breaks will be applied until a winner is found:
1.Most goals scored in the Gameweek
2.Fewest goals conceded in the Gameweek
3.Virtual coin toss

League Cup
GW8 = last 26-32
GW9 = last 16.
GW10 = last 8.
GW11/12 = semi finals
GW13 = League Cup final.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The FA Cup is scheduled to start GW15.
It'll be played along the same principles, H2H knockout. There will be only 5GWs play as there are no 2 leg matches.
If we get a tie, the FA Cup has replays and we have enough spare weeks so we'll go to a replay the following week, which will obviously put back all the other ties by 1 week too. If there is a 2nd tie, the tie breaker will come into play.

FA Cup
GW15 = last 32
GW16 = last 16
GW17 = last 8
GW18 = semi finals
GW19 = FA Cup final.
If replays are required, all ties will be put back 1 week.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champions League is scheduled to start GW20

In the event of having 26 runners then in the CL we'll run with seven groups of four. 26 teams + 2x Average. The top two from each group will qualify along with the two best 3rd place teams.

All teams will play 2 round robin matches against each other for a total of 6 matches. Teams will receive 3pts for a win, 1pt for a draw. Teams will be seeded according to their positions in the league at the time of the draw.
The top 7 in the league will all be 1st seeds, teams positioned 8th-14th will be 2nd seeds, teams positioned 15th-21st will be 3rd seeds and teams positioned 22nd+ will be 4th seeds.

Champions League
GW20-GW25 = group matches
GW26/GW27 = last 16
GW28/GW29 = last 8
GW30/GW31 = semi finals
GW32 = Champions League final.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All -4 hits in a GW will be deducted from your Cup score in that GW. This applies to all cup competitions.
If at any point a GW has less than 6 matches (due to postponements), the Cup GW will be declared void and the fixtures will move to the following week

Team value. Some people feel that it is a good strategy to ditch a load of their players who are going to decrease in price and swap them for ones who are going to increase.

Personally, I kept mine as there will come a time when I've lost a load of players to injury/suspension and there will be others playing poorly.

Really this was the reason. It back fired. FPL always does. I literally have no idea why I bother. I am so close to rage-quitting.

The 1st international break is probably the single biggest wildcard option chosen by most top managers. The reason for this is that the transfer window is closed and we have a much better idea of what team lineups are likely to be. Also historically that international break used to be the best time to make good team value on purchases, although this has changed in the last couple of years with wildcard transfers being excluded from overall transfers in regard to price rises. It's a good time to sell all the possible £0.1m droppers we might have in our team. So yeah, team value.
I did it it in GW3, a week earlier than I really wanted to and it cost me 30pts. Many of the managers who went in GW3 had a mare. Similarly most managers that wildcarded in GW4 seemed to have a poor week.
A lot of managers have decided to wait a little longer this season, GW6/7/8 due to the fact that the prices rises/drops are much slower this season than last season. Also there is a few fixture list changes around that time. Evertons fixture turn better, Stokes turn better, Spurs a little worse, etc.

I'm just slightly surprised that anyone would go into a season with a pre-conceived plan to use their wildcard in week 3/4/5 as I(possibly naively) always considered it an emergency fix mechanism - having said that I think this is the first time I've not used mine in the first 2/3 gameweeks - interesting strategy line on adding value though especially if you've missed a few shooting stars.

Entry to the cups is now closed and the league cup round of 32 takes place this week.

kp24 had expressed an interest in joining but never firmed that up and he hasn't been online since Sept 14th.  So, we were left with just 27 entrants. It's a rather awkward number - especially for the Champions League - so I've decided to gift entry to Tikay's team (he has no idea about this by the way). That makes a much better number of 28 and I'll update the prize pools on the OP shortly.

What it means for the cup comps is this.

League Cup/FA Cup: 28 x Human team + 4x Average (the weekly average score) to make up the 32 entrants. The complete draw for the League Cup will be done this week and posted in the thread and the original post. It will be conducted by an independent party (someone not in the league).

Champions League: 7 groups of 4 teams. Top two from each group qualify + top two third place teams. Tie breakers: 1) League Points 2) FPL Points scored during the six-week group stage period (all hits deducted) 3) Overall rank at conclusion of the six-week group stage period

Freehit lets you change as many players as you want but for one week only. The following week your team reverts to what it was before.

Generally best to use in a short GW or in a double GW later in the season (according to general consensus on Fantasy sites).
There will be a GW later in the season when maybe only 6 teams have a match (every season this happens) and many FPL managers might be fielding 5 or 6 players. Or it could be used in a double GW to field the best XI for that week, without ripping up your team altogether.

Congratulations to Chris Brammer on winning the first trophy of the season. It was a battle of the top two in the cups league in the final and it was a close call. It ultimately boiled down to the captaincy as Brammer's decision to band Kane gave him a six-point edge over Foulder's choice of Lukaku.

Two Sisters Probably (Chris Brammer) 59 vs 52 Bluffallo Bantams (Paul Foulder)

The prizes are:

🏆 Two Sisters Probably (Chris Brammer) £80
Runner up - Bluffallo Bantams (Paul Foulder) £40

It will cancel out the minus four, but also cancel any transfers you've made this week. So, for instance, if you've sold Elliot, he'll be back in your squad for GW18 and you'll have to use a transfer to get rid of him again.

Depending on the transfers you've made and state of your bench (do you have players who will play?) then you're probably better off benching Morata rather than selling him for a -4 or playing the FH chip as Conte has said it's fatigue/minor back niggle which probably means he'll be back for the weekend. The free hit is, in theory, very valuable and this situation likely doesn't warrant the playing of it in my opinion. We will likely see some rotation in this set of games which makes constructing a FH squad difficult because a) we don't know for sure who'll play and b) one advantage of the FH chip is that you can get all your money on the pitch, with perhaps only one functioning sub, as your squad reverts back to its former state the next week. With the threat of rotation this week, you can't really take that risk and therfore can't maximise the usage of the chip.

In LMS there was a tie between Valiant Gunners and Payne 'n Niasse. They couldn't be separated on the first tie-breaker (goals scored) as neither side managed a goal. But on goals conceded Payne 'n Niasse came out on top and so JuniorSenior survives.

Stupid question no doubt but I haven't been railing the thread much sorry.

Does LMS take gameweek transfers into account? Assume it does or late on someone can just make unlimited transfers if not competing in anything else.

Any transfer hits count. I’ve got a chrome add-on called ‘better fpl’ which shows in the league table what hits anyone has taken that week so it’s no extra admin for me.

rotation is tough!

David Silva brought in by 278,386 - the most signed player ahead of GW18... ... isn't even on the bench for Man City

Owning Fabianski and Calvert-Lewin in tonight's match.

The old penalty save and knocking in the rebound is a pretty sweet point swing.

Ditto, the illness risk was too great to burn the triple captain on.

Would definitely have played it without that. Will be a couple of good double game week options later in the season i'm sure.

How the hell does Kane not get an assist for the 2nd goal tonight?  Presumably the fact that Alli took two goes to score it, but still ridiculous.

Technically the right decision with regards to FPL but Kane's killer pass made the goal plain and simple. Without technicalities though we would have a lot of arguing!

For now, am very happy keeping 3 Hammers for that period. Need Arnie to be fit and he is looking good for those games, Adrian a nice banker too.

Hello All,

Worst season ever for me! I thought it would be given the arrival of Junior Junior in late November. It’s impossible to keep up with all the injuries, stats and trends on 2 hours sleep a night and endless washing and nappy changes.

Good luck all. Great to see aBlonde in the top 500 again and hope one day we can get an overall winner. Brent has given it a good run twice and now its Brammer’s turn!

P.s. what happened Dazzler? Brought in spurs players who stayed benched. Must have been a mis-click!

Greg

Should be like when someone gets loaned out-they just stay there on a red with the info saying transferred out. You probably don't even have to transfer him out if you'd prefer to leave him in.

Sadly for The Dazzler, and luckily for Gazza, the misclick has cost TD his place in the LMS league.

But it was a misclick, how can you be so cruel? :)

Champions League Results/tables/fixtures:

Amazingly going into the last round of fixtures only four of the 16 qualifying spots are assured, although another two teams are through, barring huge points swings. It's all to play for going into the final round of fixtures.

1) Please check your groups, I don't think there are any errors but if there are now is the time to flag them (GD = total points scored)
2) GW31, which is the semi-final second leg, is currently projected to have fewer than six matches so it'll likely be a void GW, meaning the semi-final second leg will be GW32 and the final will be GW33
3) Running bad = Team Name Censored, he has the fifth highest score of all teams over the past five GW but is bottom of Group D going into the final round of matches.

1)The Dazzler and AFC Wrenny Raidder qualify as they have the two best records of the third-place teams.
2) Looking at how TD ran this comp last year, the second round was seeded with group winners vs runners up. We'll follow that format again, but with only seven groups we need one more first seed. That honour goes to Killer River as he had the best record of any group runner-up.
3) All knockout matches are two legs, Round 2 L1 = GW26, Round 2 L2 = GW27

GW31 will be a void GW as there will be a max of five games going ahead and there needs to be six to make it a valid GW. The semi-final second leg will be GW32 and the final will be GW33.

oh i thought someone said last season it was still valid for LMS and cup weeks but i am ok either way

I'm following the same format The Dazzler used last year so in GW 31:

LMS will count - we will lose a player
Cup games will be postponed to GW32.

Hey Damir, apologies for the mistake you're clearly through and in the quarterfinals. I've amended the draw to reflect this.

I'll tell you the process I went through so you can see/understand what happened I took a long time trying to find your ream... I checked for the scores as usual and couldn't find your team in the league. I checked again. I hit ctrl+f and searched for your team name. No luck. I checked the master spreadsheet for your real name and to see what leagues you were in and it was only the £30 Cups so I couldn't check your score via another league. I then went back to the Cups league and searched again. Nothing. I then saw that there was a team in 8th place and a team in 10th place, a team was missing. I put two and two together and figured maybe you were maxed on leagues and left so you could join another league (we'd just had an annoying break of two weeks of course). I clearly made five.

I genuinely don't know why your team was not appearing. I wasn't even using the useless app :) Best of luck in the quarterfinals.

IN LMS this week there was a tie between Leeroy Jenkins and Bluffalo Bantams, with both teams scoring 44 points.

The tie breaks are:

1) Goals scored
2) Goals conceded

Leeroy Jenkins - GS = 2 (Salah, Kane)
Bluffalo Bantams - GS = 3 (Salah, Kane, Firmino)

So, by the tightest of margins, we lose Leeroy Jenkins.

Yes, we lose Tighty this week from LMS.

I also think I’ve got my maths wrong as they’ll be three teams, rather than the intended two, left in GW38. At this late stage and with chips etc in play I think it should just play out as it is rather than lose two teams in GW37 or a.n.other gameweek, so three teams left in the final gameweek. Fyi: top four pay.

the H2H is going to the wire top 2 fight it out in week 35 before we go to the play off

2 matches left and 2 points separate 3-8 and those just behind the top 8 are looking to sneak into the play offs

defeat for m this week saw me slip from 3rd to 6th at the wrong time

Scores can be amended in fpl up to the point where they actually add the bonus points.  After that it won't be changed.

Nice....Do you know whether it is a 3 match ban? How many league matches?

still time to put in a defense

Yikes! I normally do mine straight after the GW opens just in case.

Decent start for me this week with Alonso and Willian assists. Morata could be dropped for their next game, if anyone has him?

Alonso should of been sent off. (i am not bitter)

Might still get retrospectively banned.

doesnt help southampton or my fantasy h2h

I own him so hope if he gets banned, he gets banned after Chelsea play their 2nd game of the game week!

Last night's game somehow managed to produce the perfect combination of scores for me to win my H2H game and for Two Sisters Probably to lose theirs, giving me a 4 point lead in the league before we meet in the final week of fixtures.

I wasn't holding out much hope of winning the final match up as Two Sisters still have their Free Hit chip available, so thankfully it's now a dead rubber as far as the league is concerned.

Think the majority will be using their free hit this week and then triple captaining Kane in GW37. Jesus could be a good alternative but hard to look beyond Kane given how aggressively he is chasing the Golden Boot.

Need Mitch to slip up in the final week of H2H this weekend to sneak into the money.

i need the pair of you to slip up, but i am not even 100% sure of a play off spot, amazing how tight it is 3rd to 9th

I hate this time teams are in but can't see what I am up against I have had to take 8 point hit to field a team but using my triple this week to boost GW37 if I am still involved in anything. But the 8 point hit will kill me if everyone is free hitting and wild cards today

Unlucky mate, was a brave decision to take an 8 point hit and use triple captain over free hit but there's a fine line between fpl disaster and fpl genius

i had used the free hit last round of the FA cup so had no option really had to take the hit

Need Spurs to go off the boil tonight.

A Watford win out of nowhere is fine or a 1-1 with a Kane goal. Good sweat for the last couple of weeks.

yeah could do without kane and ali scoring much tonight in the h2h my last chance of a prize and i have 20 point lead against captained kane and ali
bench boost next week will be handy if i am still in the running for something

Whats the crack now, in the money and lose one next week then play 3 ways for the top 3 prizes in GW38?

Exactly that, it should've been heads-up going into the last gameweek but I got my maths wrong. By the time I/you realised the situation around GW33 it seemed the best case of action rather than eliminating two teams in one GW.

A great run for Team name censored (Phillip Marsh) in LMS he falls just short of the final, but collects £40 for finishing fourth.

The final week is a three-man shootout between:

No Kane No Gain (Martin Sutcliffe)
(.)(.) (david tighe)
No Place I'd Radebe (Brent Horner)

For:

1st. £240
2nd. £160
3rd. £80

Good luck all, once the season is over I'll update the original post with the full list of winners and send out PMs to arrange transfer of prizes.

Have I managed to squeak over the line by like 2 points or something? Very lucky if so as I've been in free fall on the home straight. Well done who ever won the LMS, I went out of that last week.

Yea fairly sure your gonna pip me by a few points. Saints holding on for the clean sheet would have been enough too. Bad last couple of weeks for me too with triple captain failing and this week.

Bring on the world cup!

Well done to David Tighe for winning LMS. Pretty happy with 2nd myself, a cool comp where two players who wouldn't have even been top 6 in the bigger Blonde fantasy comps can take down the prizes with dogged consistency. Enjoyed it!

ClarkeH of FPL Mag group?? The leagues will run again this season, waiting for the World Cup to finish first but then I’ll get the details up. Not all leagues are open to members of <3 months, this is to stop sharks entering all the leagues, but you will be able to enter the £100 Classic league as well as a H2H league, a Cups league and a Last Man Standing league. If you can get your post count up to ten then you’ll also be able to receive PMs, which will help when sending out league codes.
