Title: DTD & blonde
Post by: tikay on November 20, 2017, 06:17:46 PM

The existing sponsorship arrangement between DTD & blonde will cease in the next day or two, to coincide with the planned launch of MPPL (My Party Poker Live).

MPPL will generally promote Party Poker events, run Live Updates, host Live Streams of PP cash games, & have a PP facing Forum.

Tighty has been engaged as a member of the MPPL team, & will therefore spend a lot of his time there.

DTD have been very supportive of blonde over the 5 years or so duration of the Sponsorship, we are very grateful to them for that, & we wish them well.

Tighty won't be leaving blonde, but going forward, he'll not be able to spend as much time here as previously, so all the new threads he does daily are likely to reduce substantially. He'll still frequent & post more than most on blonde, but it'll more likely be in the evenings, after his MPPL duties are finished for the day.

The debt blonde owes to Tighty is immense, & I'd like to thank him for that. Happily, he will still be with us, just not as much.

Now, blonde will be seeking Sponsorship elsewhere, & in the interim, the Live & Internet Poker Boards will be reinstated, & the posting restrictions that existed during the DTD period will cease to exist. If you become aware of any companies that might benefit from sponsoring blonde, let us know please. Tighty & I will be making contact with various potential sponsors, but the more the merrier.

Hopefully, blonde will continue as is in all other respects.

Once the Party Poker & DTD threads are unstickied from the top of The Rail, it will look very different, but it needs Members to start & post in Threads to rejuvenate things. We'll be fine if the Members want us to be, but it does take a bit of effort from all of us.

Sad news Tikay.  Hope there is a good outcome for you and Blonde.

Good luck Tighty.  I hope Party's plans are a success for you..

Hope that a new sponsor is found, and maybe we could have a whipround in the meantime.

Good luck with the new gig, Rich!

What a terrible shame but I guess it was inevitable as the DTD brand seems to be (to me anyway) getting lswallowed up in the PP brand. I guess the Blonde sponsorship deal is a casualty of this “progress”.

As they “better to have loved and lost.....”

Gl to Tighty now he’s moved over to the dark side;) and all the best for the future m8

Congratulations, Tighty. Good luck in your new role.

I hope blonde gets through the next period to find a suitable sponsor (or sponsors).

I never noticed any.

Cardroom managers weren't permitted to advertise there comps, regular blondes with no attachment to a cardroom could advertise rival events though

Maybe rebrand as poker and sports forum? Lot of the traffic comes from lounge/diary/sports rather than poker specific. Would probably increase traffic, easier to get advertising revenue that way too is imagine.

Good idea, especially as there is a bit of wonga being thrown about at the moment with all that Daily Fantasy Sports stuff.

Why not just "Blonde forum"?

Thread for Blonde poker
Thread for Blonde sports
Thread for Blonde blogs (the diary thread)....

The poker side of it was hugely damaged with the DTD sponsorship as it was too specific to DTD (understandably) and I'm afraid it's never going to get back to where it once was.

Maybe now that other tours can be talked about we could try to encourage some of the old members back. It'll be an uphill struggle but if they know that they're allowed to speak openly without having posts deleted or ban sticks waved at them they might make the odd guest appearance.

Out of interest how much does it cost for the forum to operate without moderation? Absolute minimum running costs so just the server costs.

I would imagine we could have a whip round to keep things going for a while. I'd be happy chipping in as I'm sure would many others.

Perhaps this would be a good opportunity for a staking company to sponsor as it should have the right audience.

Good luck Tighty

I would also be prepared to chip in if necessary. First place to start would be live updates, they are the one thing that I and I’m sure others really miss. I never really understood why DTD didn’t really embrace the blonde updates, I definitely felt more compelled to play live tournaments after I followed them. It’s probably the main reason why I haven’t been to DTD for a year.

Hi Tony, yeah Resorts World now. Sorry about the DTD sponsorship but from a very selfish point of view, happy, as I've missed this place :D . Hope all the other casinos will get back on board as this was the hub of poker, we was all forced to facebook. Although Facebook is an easy place to find info, non pokerists don't have to get bombarded on forums. Hope you are well sir!

Just found out about this. Shame from Blondes point of view but hopefully it is good news for Tighty. For a lot of us who just sort of lost interest in the forum due to a lot of info about DTD which just didn’t seem relevant to us it will likely mean that some people post on the forum a bit more. Will probably start looking back at this site now to see what gets posted and will hopefully start posting again.

Just because the darts thread is nothing to do with poker doesn't mean it wasn't part of the DTD dictated Blonde Poker forum.

Some people who didn't like the way the forum was shaped following the DTD takeover chose not to post on any of the other threads. If it wasn't for a few very good friends I've made on the forum I'd have cleared off myself at one point because of a DTD related matter.

I'm sure this break up is bad for Blonde financially but if it had continued there would have been a steady decline until eventually it just died a death.

Hopefully a new sponsor can be found but if not then maybe we can pull together as a forum to fund it ourselves. Be interesting to know how much money is actually required to run the forum, I tried asking earlier in this thread but got pretty useless responses.

If it was a DTD mandate would it now be possible to reverse it as it seems over-sensitive(it ****ed out c n u t), unnecessary and overly dictatorial.

Hi Ralph,

There has been no software change to censorship of profantites, before, during or after DTD's tenure.

I am aware that a word you typed earlier this week was inexplicably censored, but I have no idea why. It was certainly nothing to do with DTD.

As an interesting curiosity - & I'm not trying to make a point for or against anyone or anything - the end of the DTD deal was announced on November 20th. The December post count was the highest for 4 months, rebounding some 30% from what was, admittedly, a very low point.

Forums generally are on the way down and have been for a while, I’ve been the member of many over the years and they have all become quieter over time. Don’t 100% know why, but I suspect FB groups carry some guilt at least, also specifically for this forum, poker is probably past its hay day for the casual player as it’s not as fun as it once was and harder to win for us lot that don’t take it too seriously....more interesting pastimes around these days....

The streets of Baghdad were really quiet but when they pulled down that statue of Saddam it suddenly got busy cos everyone bowled out of hiding and started bashing it with their flip flops.

Just found out about this. Shame from Blondes point of view but hopefully it is good news for Tighty. For a lot of us who just sort of lost interest in the forum due to a lot of info about DTD which just didn’t seem relevant to us it will likely mean that some people post on the forum a bit more. Will probably start looking back at this site now to see what gets posted and will hopefully start posting again.

throughout there has been masses of non DTD stuff on the forum. Still is. For example you like Dartsand i see you talking about it a lot on social media. At any stage in the last five years you could have looked into a busy Darts thread but chose not to. Thats nothing to do with DTD

It might be worth reading the Dunning-Kruger Effect article on Rational Wiki. Love the Mantis01 wisdom!

Going on me holidays so looked into this thinking Dunning-Kruger was a cool brand of flip flops.

What a waste of time! Turns out it's some geeky philosophy about how people with no sense of humour think they're the funniest guy in the room?!?

You've been to DTD then.

It would be a shame if you didn't read it all though. It's very funny and explains perfectly how you came to be such an expert on such a wide range of subjects. Have a great holiday!

Hey Blonde, you know that your sponsorship with DTD is over? Why is the whole homepage still covered in DTD sponsorship and articles? All old news and reviews, all old DTD stuff. Gets my goat a bit when enterprises say they're struggling, less poker players, forum dying and don't control what's controllable. Get some fresh stuff up there and purge history. Just trying to help like.

I’d suggest they’re actively looking for a new sponsor, but in the meantime have an informal agreement to leave up as they don’t mind the association to a relatively big brand name in the poker world.

Mate, have you reached out to the forum for assistance before concluding that no one else will support? I thought mods donated their time gratis for the benefit of the forum so why is such a notion inconceivable? You might get a bunch of members who are happy to submit articles and material so all you need to do is simply upload them. Infinitely better than old news from years gone by with free advertising for a sponsor who dropped you.

There remains a whole host of coolness within. We have Best in the Business where forum users have access to golden info from a world name, would pleno not be willing to contribute advertising for his stable and a link to his diary? There's Tips for Tikay, Racing Thread & Betting Emporium, all +EV betting resources, really nobody would contribute? Tikay Diary and new Vegas Staking Adventure, the dormant Staking Forum. Reaching out to all the casinos and cardrooms out there to take a section to promote their latest tournaments/photos?

I've read lots of times that members would donate money to keep the forum going so why not time and content? It needs fresh impetus to build momentum. Don't take it personally as I'm not having a dig at you but if the people responsible for Blonde are shrugging shoulders saying no time, no resources so we'll do nothing there is zero chance of attracting a new sponsor and zero hope for a future.

Incidentally, nobody paid me to contribute this slick commercial advice, I have a full time job and did it all in my own time for free.

most of all what we need is a webmaster Tighty has done his best but none of the mod team have the skills and blonde doesn't have the funds to pay for one. Since bongo left wee have had several members have a look but no one able to take on the task of fixing the faults gratis. i am sure if someone with the skills came along then we can easy get things rolling both on and off the forum.

I would be happy to help with this from a finding sponsorship for the Blonde Site.

I have a few contacts from the Aspires, Grosvenor and Genting casinos who are always looking at ways to improve the number of poker players coming to there venues.

There isn't really a UK poker hub which displays local tournaments and perhaps runs promotions for those tournaments.

I know there is a App for it... Cant remember the name. But that doesn't run promotions or able users to comment, arrange meet ups... ect, ect.

I'd be happy to donate some of my free time to this.

Powers to be- Just let me know.

Why not try a tie up with the Poker Doctor?
