I like our chances in this event.

I had a glance at the remaining players - you could well be right Bobby - over a third of the field can reasonably be claimed as "ours".

As well as Ram, Dave Colclough & Simon Trumper, & Skjervold & Nygarard, the two Norweiganish guys, we also have.....

Eugeny Kafelnikov, 92k.

Surindar Sunar 75k

Sigi Stockinger (Austria, 59k)

E C Cohen (Paris - is this Le Dangereux I wonder?) 48k

"Bruno Jais"??? (Paris - maybe THE Bruno???) 46k

Ross Boatman 39k

Tony Bloom 37k

Robin Keston 36k

Eddy Sharf (Germany) 33k

A Swagaru, (Birmingham - maybe Brum USA - help me Karabiner!) 21k

Chris Bjorin (London) 18k

Richard Ashby 12k

Mickael Ustinov (Moscow) 10k

Ben Roberts 10k

Dave Mehrmand (Germany?Iran/Persia). 8k

Surely we gotta go close in this baby?

I'm not familiar with Mr. Swagaru, but I believe "le dangereux" is Robert Cohen.

Sorry to be of little assistance.

There's an A Sivaguru aka doc who plays at Walsall, nah can't be him.........nah, can't be. He's actually a surgeon.

Checked the spelling on a couple of sites and it ain't him.........couldn't have been really, nah.

The Font of Wisdom is cllosed for repairs. Hopeless. quite hopeless.

You need to buck up Karabiner. Try Harder.

For those wondering, Edgar Skjervold is the one who won the Pokerstars "World Championship of Online Poker" Main Event last year (his nick is "ragde" on Stars), a $2500 entry online tourney with more than $460000 in first prize. Both him and Nygaard are high limit players both online and in Norwegian cardrooms.

Was he in Bergen Sig?

No, not this time, he had already left for the sin city in Nevada. Just got a text update from Nygaard, he is OUT, knocked out by his fellow countryman Skjervold, who now has over 60k and doing allright - soon to break down to three tables.

I hope he Finals!

By the way, Tuesday is the last chance fior you guys to catch the "Norweigan" Poker 425, midnight Norway time.

On the flop of 9d-8h-4c Edgar Skjervold bet out $6,600 and Tony G called. The turn came out a 5s, Skjervold checks, Tony G bets $24,600(pot) and Skjervold reraises all in. Tony calls and shows a pair of hole 10's and a straight draw. Skjervold shows 4-4 in the hole for a set of 4's and when the river put another 5 out, he got his full house. Tony G said "That's gonna keep me quiet for a while huh?".

With 19 left, Ram Waswani is chipleader with 190k, and our Norwegian friend Skjervold has around 84k. Let's cheer for the first Norwegian in the final in this WSOP!

Well bobby1's prediction yesterday that this would be a good event for us is looking good. They are playing down to a final of 9, & at 0930 UK time, heres how the last 10 stand.

Cohen E.C. - $126,000
Robert Williamson III - $160,000
Allen Cunningham - $210,000
Davood Mehrmand - $120,000
Surinder Sunar - $95,000

Phil Ivey - $495,000
Phil Hellmuth - $130,000
Eddy Sharf - $145,000
Richard St Peter - $170,000
Sigi Stockinger - $225,000

Sadly, our Norweigan friend busted out 13th, and Ram busted out in 11th.

Looks a tough USA contingent too with Ivey, Hellmuth (after bracelet #10 and if he wins his first non hold em bracelet!) and Robert Williamson who has a great PLO record.

Phil Ivey. What a player. Cool as anything and balls of steel. Serious hero worship going on here.

Title: Re: WSOP PLO $5000 with rebuys
Post by: tikay on June 28, 2005, 10:57:51 AM
Hmm, yes, the hero worship is noted. But when it comes to "cool", our Surindar can match Phil icicle for icicle.

Of course, Hellmuth is still there. He's been called a lot of things, but "cool" ain't one of them......

Cohen - if indeed it is Le Dangereux, does not get the cool rating - he's French - but he won't be phased by the big names, & he'll be laughing & giggling in that high pitched manner that grates so much. A genuinely nice guy though, despite being, well, you know.

The oddball here is of course David (or, as you prefer, Davood) Mehrmand. He's as nutty as a fruitcake, completely loopy, and cool he is NOT. But if he wins this baby, we will award him Honorary Coolness.

The French guy is Claude Cohen, who may be related to Robert "le dangereux".

Pity it's not Robert as I would pay good money to watch Helmuth v Le Dangereux part two !

Agreed Ralph. Robert would be nailed on to send Hellmuth into a mega-tantrum. How much fun would that be?

Here here.

If you can put up with Tony G, then you can get through anything.
