Title: High stakes tipping
Post by: Longines on March 06, 2018, 01:50:41 PM
There is going to be £1m on the table at DTD tonight and presumably a fair bit more by the end of the 12 hours.

How much will end up in the tip tray? I’ve watched a few of these streams and no one appears to tip individual hands, do they leave something for the dealers afterwards? Are pros more or less likely than the business recs to tip?

high stakes games it's pretty common to tip at the end.

I think it's more about the person than businessman/reg but these 4 pros will all be pretty decent tippers i'm sure.

And depends if you win or lose i guess, if you done £250k you might not be loving tipping big, if you're +£250k then you might feel a dam sight happier about slinging a £1k chip in the tip box.

tonight is different, they're offering service in terms of being on a show, if it was a normal run game, it depends on location, service, extras, thrills, in the ultra high stakes games 10-20% is common to guarantee your seat in the game

10-20%? Yikes! I guess that's more a facilitator fee than tip though.

Always find tipping interesting as a rec. I was playing cash during the recent UKPC at DTD. A circuit reg pro, six figure score in the past, seven fig hendon mob etc. etc. was playing 2/2 PLO and even when 2k+ in the hole still tipped £1 on every pot won no matter how small. Also tipped the same quid when he won a £3k pot mind.

Few months back I played in a DC game in a Grosvenor. Maybe 10k on the table, many £800+ pots and in 5 hours there was one tip, £2.

How does sharing tips work at casinos? Is there a national standard or does it vary by location/operator? Does everyone get an even share or is it apportioned by hours worked or is there a seniority multiplier used?

JOOI, how much would the average dealer at a regional casino make in a month? I presume it would be more in London?

Think JRB got the players to hand over $500 or $1k each for the dealers on PAD.

Was speaking to a coiuple of the bar staff at the Luton G the other day. From what I can recall they said all the tips got divvied up based on hours worked across the week.
That was for all stsff with all tips, so bar staff got a share of thr floor and vice versa.  Can't remember if they said was a bit different for the poker room staff or not as I was rather intoxicated at the time. Sure they said they got around £150ish a month in tips

Are these high stakes games raked?

If they are, is there an argument for not tipping at all?

If ever I win big, (I did say if ever) I wait until I get home and then I tip the wife and kids.

There is always an argument for not tipping.  Tilts the shit out of me tipping as standard.

10-20%? WTF? Fk that.......

Title: Re: High stakes tipping

Think Pleno is talking about "tipping" as opposed to tipping lime tipping the dealer or valet.

The 20% "tips" I assume you do not end up with the dealers or valets.

Newy had 33 and hit trips on a 6 high board with Sam leading out with his 77 , turn 7 , will
not spoil ending if anyone wanting to watch.

Zang made a fantastic call with JJ on a K Q board with 3 clubs , doubt hardly anyone else
would have called for I think £32k on the river.

Alex and Zhang could have played a massive pot if Alex hadn't flatted Zhangs 3 bet with AK
diamonds , zhang had AQ and it came Q 10 rag with two diamonds.

Great to watch , more please !

Zhang won man of the match for me , very impressed.

Very much this.  Was really enjoyable to watch.  The camera work was great, all the close ups of facial expressions etc.  Comms by Flushy and Kev Allen were spot on for the vast majority of punters.  Great mix of technical stuff and banter.  Was there a prop bet going on between them the amount of times they could get Dubai into the conversation?

I would say that the sound was a little distorted. Sometimes flushy and Kev were talking whilst Justin was blabbing on and it made for just one big noise!

They tipped at the end, and Sam was very generous as usual. (Even when losing)

Never in my games.
But private games I have heard of what I consider shady practices for pros to get in like this.

Tech issues for a while, was was corrected. Might have been two hours before it was sorted. Shouldn’t effect the edited shows when done.

I used to be a dealer when I was a young gun. This rich dude landed at my table, Saudi type. Just as we're getting started another dealer 'sexy Mandy' arrived at the table next door and Saudi dude snap moved tables. About 2hrs later Saudi had stacks and cashed out. He put the keys to his car on the table and told 'sexy Mandy' he was tipping her his Porsche. The miserable pit boss came steaming over and said if she took the keys she was fired. I can still hear her laughing as she skipped out the door.

Lisa (sonour) mentioned yesterday she once owned a Porsche. It's all fitting together nicely.
