Title: Liverpool v Man City tonight
Post by: tikay on April 04, 2018, 02:10:30 PM

Sometimes these really big games tend to be a bit of an anti-climax, both sides scared to make mistakes, but I fancy this could be the exception & am genuinely looking forward to watching it.

Anyone like to predict how it will pan out?

Such a good game in prospect, I don't "need" to have a bet, but if anyone is interested, the Markets are here;

https://www.oddschecker.com/football/champions-league/liverpool-v-man-city/winner

7/5 City sounds big at first sight - surely they are a good bit shorter most away games? - but 15/8 Liverpool tempts, too.

Probably best if I just watch. ;)

2-0 Liverpool. Klopp overcelebrates the second goal and then tells the reporter after the game that the job is only half done and they can't get too excited.

I can't bring myself to do it, but I'd say there is more than a smidge of value for Liverpool at a general 21/10.

I don't think it will be akin to the swashbuckling league games we've had with them, but there will be no buses parked. And sadly our record there is dire.

The nature of the beast means a 2-1/3-2 defeat for us isn't a bad result at all.

One big difference though between tonight and the 4-3 league defeat......David Silva starts.

The only stream I can find that doen't keep crashing is a Spanish one with a colour-commentator with a very very pronounced English accent.

It's probably better value than Andy Townhsend or Chris Waddle - it actually sounds like Big Ron Atkinson - is that even possible?

BT Sport viewers have to suffer the smug Hoddle as the third or colour commentator.

Get yourself a nice IPTV sub.

Tenner a month full sky and bt package all football, and box office events, 3pm kick offs, USA and Canadian channels, video on demand works on all devices. No fannying about on Reddit looking for malware infested host sites

Blimey there could be another 4-4 on the cards.

The plus side to my Spanish stream with the Big Ron soundalike is that I have The Masters par-3 tourney on the telly featuring Nicklaus, Player, and Watson in a 3-ball :)

Teddy I'll check out that IPTV as I currently have a sky package. Do they have golf coverage too?

Worst thing that has happened to city this year was mane getting sent off.

They may have thought the Liverpool onslaught in the 4-3 was a freak occurance and the 5-1 capitulation was the mean to which they would return tonight

Most enjoyable 45 minutes of football all season.

Man City possession just 55% - surely a season low?

The score is about right, too.

An early 2nd half goal by City and I'll have to take an extra heart tablet.

This is exactly why I didn't want Liverpool in the draw.

Dunno what it is, we can dominate every other team home and away in the league, yet when we go to Anfield we look like rabbits caught in headlights.

2nd half was better but the damage was already done. I wouldn't write us off though, but we'll have to be much improved in the home leg. First goal at Eastlands will decide the 90 minutes and ultimately the tie.

Mickey mouse comp anyway, bigger fish to fry on Saturday ;)

City set up perfect for Liverpool. Our strength is our pace on the attack, most teams defend deep and don't give us the space. City however love to have the ball and attack, gives us loads of space to exploit.

Thankfully you only play like that against us and not the likes of Burnley/West Brom/Swansea etc, otherwise you'd walk the league every year!

Fucking disgraceful bunch of chavs, don’t get why this isn’t a bigger deal that needs to be properly called out?

It’s not even like it’s a small number of dickheads involved, there are literally thousands of people lining the streets abusing them and chucking stuff.

No wonder I’ve never properly followed football, in the brief moments in my life it’s caught my eye the interest has always been quickly extinguished by chavs behaving like arseholes which has put me off from getting more involved....

a weird little flip to the story, the replacement city bus stopped on the way back in and their medical staff helped a little girl who was ill/injured right outside one of the pubs where they got bottled, booed and mooned.

still a storm in a teacup for me.

a few beer bottles and fat arse cheeks on show and the blue half of manchester start sucking their thumbs and asking uefa to took them into bed with an overturned result.

I don’t follow any football team but I think this chav shit should be fully stamped out of football, it’s a total disgrace to your ‘beautiful game’....

If I saw anything like this in the sports I follow I would be fucking embarrassed and doubt I would follow them any more.....

To some it’s almost like behaving like a dickhead chav is a badge of honour, seriously wtf?

The casual racism of pool fans when worshipping Suareze was  much worse than flinging some bottles at a bus. And most of their most passionate fans are embarrassing whoppers who collect enemal badges, take themselves far too seriously and show a  penchant for cod latin banners.  They make a lot of noise and are at least passionate though.

Amazed that city fans are so sanitised to be comparing wed night to hysel, and acting like throwing bottles at buses is something that no city fan would ever do.

Where do you find this stuff? :) Do you trawl forums looking for the most dramatic of posts?

I think most level headed football fans accept that a fair few dickheads follow their team (look at the types of people who follow England abroad!), City certainly have plenty.

I do think it was particularly scummy behaviour from those Liverpool fans though; it wasn't a heat or spur of the moment thing. They waited for the bus to pelt it with bottles.

As Klopp said, idiots.

Title: Re: Liverpool v Man City tonight
Post by: POWWWWWWWW on April 13, 2018, 05:07:06 PM
The main benefit to drawing Roma (besides them possibly being the weakest team left) is that they may now possibly only have to play a one off game vs Real or Bayern. I think they would have definitely struggled in a 2 leg tie v Bayern. If they turn up I'd fancy their chances vs any team in a one off game. Having said that, if they don't turn up, they won't have a home game to fall back on with the Anfield crowd playing 12th man, and Klopp's record in major finals is horrendous. I think they'd prefer the more Jekyll and Hyde Real than the efficient Bayern, but Ronaldo is the biggest game player. Whatever happens everyone is for a treat over the next 5 games. Best CL season for a while, maybe ever?

I'd say that both Liverpool and Roma both got their wish in the draw as like Powww says just a one-off final awaits against one the the two strongest teams.

Unlike my beloved Gooners who have to contend with Atletico over two legs :(
