Title: Masters Golf sweat & bants thread.
Post by: tikay on April 05, 2018, 01:45:14 PM
Thought I'd start this to keep it separate from the Tipster Comp thing, which is currently & metaphorically out of bounds at the first.

To avoid aftertiming accusations, & to get us started with some hilarity, here's my little small stakes portfolio, all EW.

Rose

Bubba

Fleetwood

Matsuyama

Adam Scott

Patrick Cantlay

Dustin Johnson

Assuming 1 point stakes, they are all 1 pointers except Rose which is 2 points.

And when you've finished laughing, how about posting your selections?

Thought the bookies odds were the worst ever.  All this 1/5 odds is bollocks.  As a result I only found one decent imo bet - stenson @ 45-1 8 places 1/5 odds.

Might have a look for an anti-rail in the top ten market if the betfair exchange is liquid.  ie lay someone who is well odds on.

Mickelson and Rose for me although I do fear Spieth who has the lowest scoring
average around Augusta , admitadly a small sample compared to Woods who is
2nd in the list.

My 400/1+poke Ross Fisher double-bogeys the first but then birdies the 2nd and 3rd to get back to even par - bouncebackability - goooo Rosscoe.

Late last night, I worked my way through the various sites I read so as to make my Masters Golf selections.

Amongst those were Tighty's Road to Riches, who tipped Leishmann at 60/1. I always back the Road to Riches stuff & have done very well from them, God bless Tighty & B-E.

This morning I was rushing about a bit with stuff Next Door, but placed all my bets, mostly with Sporting Bet & PP.

Then got on with my daily routines.

Just started watching the Red Button & was chuffed to see my man Mark Leishmann leading at -3.

I mean, it barely matters at this stage, but at least I've got a proper 60/1 sweat which might last a day or two. Or three or four.

Then I opened this thread to see who else I had & at what price.

No sign of Leishmann.

Checked my Sporting Bet & PP Accounts, nope & nope.

Story checks out.

It's a weird feeling, was really revved up at the prospect of a good sweat, now every time he makes a shot I'm kinda half hoping he shanks it. If he leads for 4 days it's gonna be a painful watch.

LOL!

I'll just hope he comes 2nd, to one of my selections. That way Tighty gets paid, and so do I :D

Good luck with Johnson, Reed and Moore.

Don't forget to switch channels at 8.05 to watch the Arsenal masterclass.

Had a go on Moore at 80's when his price hadn't changed for day 1 leader when he was -2 after 2. Didn't work out so well for me.

Heart is all in on Tiger, money is on Rory.

8pm, but I'm watching the Red Button live coverage and it's excellent, they have the USA feed without Miss Shriek and all the bloody waffling that they do on Sky proper. No adverts, either.

Did a few for Day 1 only for a hoped-for-insta-sweat:

Brendan Steele - already dead in the water...
Dustbin @ 18/1 ew
Luis Oost @ 50/1 ew
Adam Scott @ 50/1 ew
Leishman @ 40/1 ew
Adam Hadwin & 90/1 ew - been watching this fellow Canadian for awhile, and couldn't resist a dabble. Got him overall too, but he usually starts better than he finishes

GL all!

A Masters with Spieth, McIlroy, Mickelson, Fowler, Stenson and Dustin Johnson all within two strokes of the lead.

cancel all plans!

This morning I felt as though this year's Masters might turn into a boring procession for Spieth but all of a sudden a golf tournament has broken out.

It seems we'll all have decent sweats for a while.

PS Around £15K matched from 2.66-2.8 for Spieth on betty last night.

I couldn't resist a dabble on Justin Thomas @55 with his history of storming back into contention.

How good is John Rahm. He had completely lost his head after the 16th and still manages to play some stunning golf. You could see how badly he wanted to win, and the moment he realised the chance had slipped away from him. I'm positive it won't be long till we see him win a major.
