Saw this format for a Wolrd Cup Sweepstake on David Docherty's Facebook and thought it was so good that I'd copy it and run one on Blonde.

£20 in, 32 participants, everyone gets one country at random.

WC Winner: £200 Tikay PAID
Runner-up: £100 Doobs
3rd-Place: £70 superwomble PAID

Worst Group Stage Team: £65 - Panama (Horseplayer) PAID
(Least points, then worst goal difference, then least goals scored, then split)

3rd Place in Group of Winner: £65 Bobby1
(Self-explanatory; it means everyone who's team finishes 3rd essentially gets to adopt two new teams for the rest of the tournament)

FIFA Goal of the Tournament: £50 TBD
(Awarded to the country of the player who wins the fifa.com poll for best goal)

Shootout Prizepool: £90 - Spain (DropTheHammer)PAID , BigAdz (Denmark) PAID, Peter-27 (Colombia) PAID, Archer (Russia) £22.50 each

(Split between all players whose country is eliminated in a penalty shootout prior to the semi-finals. If there are no shootouts, £15 will be added to each of the other 6 categories)

The categories should give everyone a chance of winning some money regardless of who you draw.

At the last World Cup, Germany, Argentina, Netherlands, Cameroon, Portugal, Colombia, Chile, Greece and Costa Rica would all have made profit.

Deadline for entries is 10pm BST on Wednesday 13th June. A trusted non-participant will conduct the draw.

Especially as they are in a group where they can probably nick a point.

They could finish third. The beauty of this format is that there are almost no bad draws. You could argue that the teams who don't make it out of Groups A and H are 'bad draws' as they're unlikely to be the worst team in the comp and the winners of those groups are less likely to be the overall winners (at least according to the bookies).

I'm very glad he does though, he's easily the best Gaming Industry Analyst I know of, not even close. It's a great shame we don't see him on here these days, he'd cut through some of the nonsense we read on blonde about the bookies in a heartbeat. I'm not a Tweeter or even regular Twitter reader, but I do try to read Alun's stuff every day. The only problem I have with him is he is Welsh. He'll be crowing about the TdF winner on Sunday, just you wait & see.
