Title: Online mtt's
Post by: RED-DOG on June 16, 2018, 12:42:13 PM
Are there any sites other than Stars that run decent daytime full ring NLHE MTT's with buy-ins ~$20/100?

And what about night time? I'm looking for something with smaller fields than Stars.

I have nothing against Stars per se, I just want to know what's out there.

32Red or Unibet?

No idea if it's any good, but know a few people that splash around in those.

the Smooth format MTTs (deeper stack, longer clocks) have smaller fields than the PKOs and would suit you

microgaming and unibet are dead in the daytime. Both are options in the evening, nice manageable fields. Unibet is growing too and also no HUDS which I like. Microgaming is very slowly losing traffic but they still have some decent stuff in the evenings. Only real other options in the daytime are 888 and Party.

Party now has reg speeds and slow ones on the hour and turbos with smallish fields with only 5% rake on the half hour. Even the turbos aren't too fast.

888 schedule is so haphazard but you can usually find one or two things that you like, they just introduced Big Fish tournaments which are slow freezeouts 5-55 buy ins with lots of satties.

Last one is ipoker network. Again network is slowly shrinking but you might be able to find one or two things that you like....

How long do the Party reg speed Hold em MTTs take to finish now?   They were pretty much incompatible with working last time I played one.

On the plus side, Party have got a few plo8 MTTs going now.   They could do with losing an hour or so, but didn't feel nearly as bad as the hold em ones and are very welcome.   Cheers.

about 3 weeks.

the deepstacks mentioned (2pm 4pm) have something like 3-4 hour late regs. where you can then get in with roughly 20bb at the end. They allow 2 re-entries. the idea to add in every single blind level they could do the maths for means they are farcically slow to end. perfect for a good winning regular or someone who is commiting their whole day and night and wants to maximise edge, utterly useless for anyone else. they only get 7-10 players in from the start whilst guaranteed at 150-250 ish runners.

their 'fast' tournies are basically what used to be considered a reg speed because the blinds are a bit longer than the normal 5 minute turbo AND all the blind levels under the sun have been added in again.

I don't want to play for 12 hours, so I love the 'fast' tournies on Party now. Usually 60-150 runners. Only 5% rake. Certainly slower than turbos on most sites.

With the reg speeds, yeah, maybe I late reg a couple right at the beginning of my session. Then afterwards I probably skip them.

The bigs and the hots on Stars are still probably the best midstakes tournies (apart from Sunday when they are re-entry)

My preference for the longest clocks, the slowest structures and every level imaginable is a bit of a running joke. The Camel & I had endless 'discussions' about it back in the day. (Sorry Keith, I was in the wrong).

If I admit the truth, I used to do really well in long slow tournaments, especially live ones, not because I was particularly good, but because my discipline and patience far outweighed my small amount of actual ability.

There was a festival every week. most games were long-clock pot limit hold em. I knew all the players really well and in the absence of smart phones & tablets we used to talk to each other and laugh all day & night. I loved it to bits and the long hours were no hardship for me.

These days I don't fare particularly well regardless of structure but I have enjoyed trying to be less one dimensional.

What I look for now is 'playable' rather than just slow structures, reasonable field sizes and fair rake. I do like full ring games and I would rather play where tracking software isn't allowed, I'm just too old-school to enjoy it.

Thanks again to everyone for their input. It's been really useful.

I have an account with party. I opened the poker lobby and signed in for the first time in ages.

Everything was fine until I clicked the tournament tab, then the DTD tab started flashing like mad the screen frozen and after a minute or so I got this message.

Then Windows closed the program.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled and turned it off and on.

The problem persists. Any ideas ?

interesting, my first port of call would be a off/on then an uninstall/reinstall.

Do you have any problems with anything else that runs on this computer?

No. Admittedly it is a 10yo lap top running Vista but everything else seems fine, even porn.

at least the essentials work.

Vista may just be so old it doesn't like it.

try right clicking and run as administrator. and see if that has any effect.

if you have a shortcut and dont know where the application itself is,  right click the short cut and go to properties at the bottom of the list, then select the compatibility tab and at the bottom should be a tick box for run as administrator. press apply and start it up again. see if that has any effect. it may well not.

Wonderful stuff Tom, & it reminded me of when I most enjoyed the game. Pot Limit Hold 'Em was easily my favourite game back in the day. Almost never see it now.

I was going to suggest the defaut of re-install adobe air first, but from a quick read through you need version 15 for vista and air is on 30 atm for windows 10  rotflmfao   adobe dont provide support for past dated versions so you'd have to download through a bunch of 3 party sites which may not be trustworthy.

you should be able to play sky through your browser though.

windows 10 is so much better than vista, and you can get a decent working anti virus on your machine again

i just had to scrap an old pc i gave to my mum that ran on vista as nothing was working correctly on it and it was too old and slow to run win10

what did you do to make party work?

Title: Re: Online mtt's
Post by: RED-DOG on June 21, 2018, 09:43:03 AM

1. Close all Windows.
2. Right click on the partypoker icon on the desktop.
3. Click on 'Properties'
4. Click on the 'Find Target' button
5. Right click on the 'Notes' file and click on 'Copy'.
6. Right Click on the Desktop and click on 'Paste'
If you do not save it, the notes you made through the "Add Player Notes" option will be lost. Once you reinstall the software you may copy the Notes file to its default location.

To uninstall the software:
1. Use Change/Remove button to remove the partypoker software from your system.
2. Go to C:\Programs and delete the folder PartyGaming

To clean up registry before reinstallation:
Step 1: Click on the 'Start' button located in the lower left corner of your screen and select Run
Step 2: Type 'regedit' and click on 'OK'
Step 3: Click on the ( + ) sign next to 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER'
Step 4: Click on the ( + ) sign next to 'SOFTWARE'
Step 5: Look for the ‘PartyGaming’ folder under the software tree, and select the folder by clicking it once.
Step 6: Right click the PartyGaming Folder and delete the ‘PartyGaming’ folder under that registry tree

You can click the box in the top right, and it will maximise the table.

Not quite full screen, but as good as I'm aware you can get.

Hmm, I wonder why the size is limited? It means I have to sit closer to the computer and wear my reading glasses, which I then have to peer over to see the telly.
