Title: A message from iRaise
Post by: EvilPie on August 05, 2018, 12:12:44 AM
Some of you may know Harvey Butters who posts as iRaise here on Blonde.

I've known Harvey for a few years now and we've trained together a couple of times having gotten to know each other through the 'blonde will make you strong' thread. That's one of the great things about Blonde, you get to know people you otherwise would never have met.

Anyway as he'd not posted for a while I got in touch via WhatsApp last Tuesday and had a message back saying that he couldn't text so we'd have to chat. What followed was an hour long conversation where he told me that he'd been very ill recently and had suffered an aneurism which caused a bleed in to his brain.

It happened two weeks prior to our chat and he'd spent a full two weeks in hospital so had only just come out.

At the moment he's unable to see properly due to one eye being completely closed and the other being extremely blurred hence him asking me to post on his behalf. He wanted to let people know, particularly the guys from the training thread, that he's not disappeared completely and that he'll be back posting as soon as he is able.

I won't go in to any further detail as I don't want to get anything wrong. It was one of those surreal conversations where you don't fully take everything in as it doesn't seem like it's really happening. Let's hope the eyes recover quickly and then he's able to post himself with a few more details and hopefully some good news about his recovery.

Get well soon Harvey.

Damn, that's awful news, but glad to hear that he's out of the hospital now, and hopefully on the road to recovery.

Give him my best, and give us a shout if there is anything we can all do to help while he's on the mend.

Keep everything crossed for a quick and full recovery.

Very much this.  Loved the posts he made to the 'muscle' thread over the years.  Very knowledgeable guy.  Speedy and full recovery please.

That is awful news, & big thanks to Matt for letting us know.

What an irony, too. Harvey looks after himself, eats properly, keeps his body fit, & spends unlimited amounts of time helping others with advice as to how the right food & exercise helps us keep healthy. Life is very unfair sometimes.

Good vibes sent for a speedy & full recovery.

One thing he mentioned that he was really pleased about was that his diet and fitness regime was in no way responsible for what happened. It was just one of those unfortunate things that could happen to anyone no matter what. That would've been a real kick in the balls to find out that by trying to be healthy he was actually causing damage to himself.

When you speak to Harvey about anything to do with fitness or diet you can tell how passionate he is about it. It's his job and it's also his hobby so it's awful that he can't train and also has no idea of when he'll be able to start again.

The biggest frustration he has at the moment is clearly not being able to go to the gym and also knowing that he'll be back to square one when he finally gets there.

Really gets you thinking when s**t like this happens.
