Post by: Marky147 on December 10, 2018, 08:01:52 PM
We're 3 months from Chelters eve, so may as well get the thread going  8)

Wasn't getting involved too much antepost this year, but already in for chunks...

Will whack up my wagers later on tonight.

Got to get involved early, when you're trying to win a vegas trip on the cheap ;D

Definitely not dead, and the any race markets help a lot.

No point trying to second guess Mullins and Elliott, anyway.

After years of trying to quit AP betting, I have finally managed to cut right down, although everything I have backed so far has bombed Summerville B @33s/ Black Op/ Euxton Lane/ Balko des Flo/Lalor

Only Tiger Roll survives, but he runs this weekend, so be prepared to rip that one up too Marky!

Terrific stuff.

Just added Nelson River at 66s for the triumph

Great case of trainer snobbery no reason cant do it on better ground as was not even proven on soft before today

Yes race may have fallen apart but no reason it doesnt in March and he plugs on for a place

I have backed Angels Breath for the Supreme.....I hope you get paid.....

I was incredibly taken with Aramon of Mullins last week. Won by a street and still had to overcome plenty of trouble. The usual Mullins caveat is where does it run? I had to take some of the 16s for the Supreme though, as that and AB have looked far and away the best two candidates to my eyes.

Looks like Denise's mob have closed the c/o window over the NY  >:(

I backed Angels Guest a couple weeks ago for the Supreme & Ballymore. I've cashed a few out, added a few, and lost a few over the last month.

Below is as of NYE, but it has changed a bit in the last couple days :D

Day 1 - 37
Day 2 - 34
Day 3 - 32.5
Day 4 - 29

Any - 107
Multi - 11
Dead - 25.5

Total - 276

Angels breath yeah sorry.  Looked like it had an engine to me
Champ race developed into a sprint which didn't suit brewin. I might
Have champ in the supreme if I was JP

Looks like the Supreme is gonna be my downfall race. As well as Aramon and AB Ihave invested a decent ew sum on Itchy Feet who has excellent collateral form with Elixir D N and Grand Sancy but is 40-1 and is having a reported prep for the race, I just had to add him.

Nelson River in the triumph trial on Saturday at Cheltenham

as big as 10s with Coral which looks silly but expect may get bigger as very unsexy, on form has proven more than most of these

will have the finger ready to top up at 40s for the triumph in the run if a good run looks on the cards

Just watched that Birchdale again, because I know someone that is like Frank Hickey was over Charlie Parcs last year :D

Hopefully he doesn't turn out like him, obviously. Was very impressive, and he's still pretty big odds, too.

That everyday cashout has been blinding, although they've cottoned on now and freeze during races.

Gave me a decent freeroll, so although I've made a couple quid, it has all been reinvested and not bothered including in totals.

So while we wait to see which of his stable Marky has managed to curse with Equine Flu....

What are everyones top three bets for Chelts so far? They can be your strongest fancies or the ones that win you most money, but lets have as many thoughts as possible.

To get things rolling.

Sir Erec-Triumph. on at all rates from 25s down.

Supersundae- Stayers. Backed it literally for the race right after he was backed last year at 16s. Glad Apples Jade beat him last time to end any silly talk of the Champ. Proper run Stayers should suit him better than the crawl last year, I hope. Got some beans on Paisley Park at 14s, but just worry that we may have seen him peak to soon.

EW Nap is Uregent de Gregaine. Everyone including me would love to see Tiger Roll win, but this fella cruised round last year and Felix D G probably didn't credit how tough TR was to pass. At 6 times the price and a superb C&D record and very little coming from leftfield this year, I reckon this is a knocking bet ew.

I do have one that will be my biggest bet of the week, but until Mr Mullins confirms plans, I shall keep it up my sleeve.

Really like beware the bear and up for review for the ultima. 20/1 both nrnb 4 places is very good value.
Not as many soft ground lovers in the race this year. Out sam also interesting

13/2 Frodon for the Ryanair NRNB looks okay to me as there might be a fair few defectors by then.

This was mentioned on the BF preview last night.   Paul Nicholld said he is "almost certainly" going to the Ryanair and a few others aren't.  The only doubts are extreme events, so happy to take the 7/1 without NRNB given I can't get 13/2 with NRNB.   Love the horse too.

Day 1 has a loss of 23 28points before we start, however, I had laid 4 of those back at 4.0 on Le Richebourg, and the 5 I bet on Mengli @ ~7.8.

That 365 cashout saved me a fortune, as a lot of my early bets I cashed out for profit, or small losses. Unfortunately they caught on eventually, and started freezing the markets.

Only a couple more sleeps and we're off!!

I am going strictly with the if you think about it you have to bet it rule this year.

I realise this is almost as stupid as the if you can split you must split rule I managed to implement at the Aria for 3 hours last week!

Bit of karma for RRicci there although it probably saved him the interview.

I was so busy anti-funking Benie Des Dieux that I genuinely didn't realise Roksana had won.

Trip report:

Two firsts and three seconds made for a profitable day.

Neil's preview dinner on Saturday has paid for itself; I noted both Melon and Thomas Derby from that.   Think Lydia Hislop was keen on that, but I may be over-crediting her and it could have been someone else.

So many snowflakes around (young and old) refusing to stand outside in the rain, so we could get right near the finishing line from Tatts.

Tatts was a lot roomier than I expected, by contrast there seemed to be less space in club.

There is a jockey club app where you can download your tickets; that may seem a great idea, but mobile signal wasn't that great with O2, hence much cursing and fun times at the gate.

Getting in and out in a car is still pretty shit at the festival.

Overall was a much more enjoyable day than I remembered.

I would take the top one.  Second one looks significantly worse than the top one; the price and place terms are worse.   Third one is better than the second, but fifth first 7 is only marginally better than quarter first 5, and you are getting a much worse price.

Honestly think half these Cheltenham offers and promos are designed to flag up people to restrict. Two firms have restricted me or banned me from free bets/best price this week! My volume on both of these sites is very small.

No idea how they really decide who/why to ban people.

If you only fire into the horses when there are offers, I'd guess that may be a trigger.

Imagine how much he must be knocking out for bfsb to accommodate him long term.  They close you quicker than viirtually any book going.    Shame he doesn't show all his losers.  Pretty irresponsible as well with his thousands of kids who probably follow him on social media to be bragging about such stupid bets long term.

Hopefully I'll get BOG as I was all over 7/1.

Mr Chamberlain keeps telling us about "all our wonderful cameras" and "I love this jockey cam".

FFS, jockey-cam is the most idiotic and useless gimmick any TV Director ever came up with.

F*ck off with your jockey cam shite.

True, watching him close up whilst his shoe was being replaced made it all the more poignant.

Was a hell of a generous offer.

It was certainly taken up by an awful lot of people, & that's putting it mildly.

The site went behind banners today for about 15 minutes between races 1 & 2, but it's back up & functioning normally now. The highest load on the platform was when they are crediting all the cash back stuff but it's all been paid now afaik.

I was in tears. Ironically I used to love the races and went to Glorious Goodwood and a few other places for a few years. I fell out of love with racing when in my eyes the biggest star and most beautiful horse with the most arrogant personality I had ever seen broke down also in an horrific way but he thought he was that good he tried to keep going on 3 legs. I cried buckets that day and never watched a race for years.

That horse was George Washington, trained by Aiden O'Brien. It broke my heart.

So many emotions in racing.

A day of mixed emotion to say the least.

My biggest ante post bet on Sir Erec was a horrible way to start the day on so many levels.

Strangely though I am one of 3000 people that has an eyelash, tailhair etc in Pentland Hills. I made a tidy sum having backed him at 33s before his debut, but it was a strange race as I am with all my mates, who are all on Erec, and the place we have booked out goes dead after his horrific injury.

Then within 90 seconds the horse my wife bought a share in for me as a pressie from our dog, wins the race......

Hard to balance the mixed feelings...
