Title: Droning on
Post by: TightEnd on December 20, 2018, 07:01:27 PM
"Every time Gatwick tries to reopen the runway, the drones reappear" - Transport Secretary Chris Grayling describes the drones that have caused chaos at Gatwick Airport

That's so weird!

I'm amazed that the sale of drones has been allowed to go on unchecked.

This was always going to happen one day.

Sadly the horse has bolted and we have no controls in place.

Must be the Tories fault......

Now that this has proven to be a successful tactic I wouldn't be surprised to see it pop up at other airports, and possibly abroad. It's got to be easier than the plane stupid protests where people chained themselves to the runway: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-35403577

Jeremy Clarkson - the Top Gear bloke - just Tweeted this;

I really hope that when the fat shit at Gatwick is caught, someone kills him.

I assume the couple just released without charge will be seeing the newspapers for vast quantities of money.

And who can blame them?

What would they sue them for?

For one that newspapers really need to be a lot more careful in what they put on their front page, just adding a question mark to the title won’t keep the libel lawyers from getting rich.

Raising the question of the privacy of individuals at least until past the point of charging was not a fight the media needed to have, this case and Cliff Richard will bring it much closer.

Oh sorry, I was looking at it from a 'sell our story' point of view.

I can't understand why there isn't more public outrage in evidence over this shambles. Government inaction allowed the situation to occur and then something that should have been dealt with in no time on the first day was allowed to drift on for days at massive public inconvenience. As a minimum, Grayling's job should be under pressure and probably several others, but it doesn't seem to be the case so far. No idea why.

“Sussex Police said they were relying on eye witnesses and there may have been no ‘genuine drone activity in the first place’.
Det Ch Supt Jason Tingley said no footage of a drone had been obtained.....”

Interesting that the deeply distressed couple that need medical support and need privacy feel they are able to speak to the press about it outside their property.

Modern equivalent of calling in a bomb scare or setting off a fire alarm I suppose.

If that's all it takes for a protester to shut down our 2nd busiest airport for over 24hrs we've got some serious problems.

I'm thinking whilst I'm typing but surely this can't be true? I can understand the runway closing for an hour or two based on unconfirmed reports but for more than a day?

I know what angle you're coming from here but if they didn't do anything and were held for 3 days they deserve every penny they can lay their hands on.

The conspiracy theory that the airport ws held to ransom by unknowns currently seems far more plausible then some of the ideas the keystone cops have been coming out with
