RIP

One of the fun guys in the days we all used to play and watch on tv.

Jeez, that's a shocker.

Met him the first time I played the WSOP, and always came across as a proper happy go lucky chap.

RIP

He has been the life and soul of the table when he has sat on my O8 tables a couple of times in recent years.   Clearly likes a drink, but seems genuinely friendly to everyone at the table, even those he has just met.  The O8 WSOP events will be quieter this year.

RIP

Very sad, and as Doobs wrote, he certainly livened up the 4 card tables & was huge fun.

I was not a fan back in the day when they had all those ridiculous televised Full Tilt cash games with what was clearly (& later shown to be) moody money, nonchalantly chucking around bricks of $100 bills, but when I got to know him I discovered we had a shared interest in Harley Davidson motorcycles, & he always found time to chat even with recreationals like myself.

Here's a nice, if rather gushy, piece about Gavin by Nolan Dalla.

RIP Gav.

I won't be out there at the time, but if anyone is, there is a Gavin Smith memorial tournament at this year's WSOP (a week on Tuesday).

It should be a blast in his honour.

Would have played this if I was out there.
