Title: Androgynous women in sport
Post by: RED-DOG on February 18, 2019, 11:50:09 AM
I was listening to a thing on the wireless this morning and about female athletes who have more than there fair share of testosterone. It is said that this gives them an unfair advantage because apparently they are smashing world records all over the place. So, the powers that be want them to take somemething to lower their testosterone levels.

They say that would be unfair because higher testosterone levels are less than a natural advantage, just like longer legs or bigger lungs.

I'm very fence sitty atm, but I am swaying towards making them lower the testo.

Whenever this story pops up I can never get beyond the coincidence that Caster Semenya is a perfect anagram of "Yes, A Secret Man"

That's right up there with Colin Wanker in the sporting anagrams charts.

I dunno if extra testosterone helps. Semenya hasn't been able to even get close to Kratochvilova's 35-year-old world record, and you couldn't question Jarmila's credentials.

Always thought Usain Bolt had a genetic advantage cos sprinters aren't that tall. It meant he took less strides than everybody else. Wonder if Seb Coe would advocate reducing the length of his legs with surgical intervention to make it fair.
