Thanks guys :)

I was pretty lucky to keep laddering, and Trigg lost a huge flip vs winner with AK 3 handed to have 75-80% of chips in play.

Trigg stuck next to me for most of the final stages - was very relieved to be on his left - he's still a boss!

Meanwhile, I saw this utterly fascinating Tweet by Andreas Holvold from, I assume, DTD;

A4dd ble sliten mot KQhh. Fikk to par på turn, men ble flushet på river. Blah. 21k

I mean, one gets the gist, but fortunately, Twitter has a translation button......

A4DD was tired against KQhh. Got two pair on the turn, but was rushed on the river. Blah. 21k.

Think the original might be clearer.

Brilliant work gents.

Imagine this a few years ago when we had the update threads, would've been amazing.

Such a shame those days are gone.

I think everyone, especially the card rooms, underestimate how much value the updates added.

Whole heartedly agree with this, I haven't been to DTD for well over 2 years now. The updates really get the poker juices flowing

For certain values of "updated", yes...

Will is one of the better updaters out there. Had the pleasure of working with him at WSOP in 2016.

Granted, it appears he was running solo, and I know I would have struggled covering a FT solo. Plus that was an FT which a player puked everywhere under the table, so I imagine the place stank. God knows how Trigg & MC dealt with it, in their position I'd have demanded a table move.

My comment was more about the general quantity of updates for the whole festival rather than just the FT, but maybe I'm just spoilt by the blonde updates of yesteryear.

Did someone really heave under the table? Why? And they didn't move? Bizarre.

There are two updaters working the festival

They are not asked to do "blow by blow" more general overview and of course there is no reader interaction so its more difficult

For a different approach you can see the DTD FB forum, and pockets of PPL social media for a more irreverent approach from someone who used to do updates

The photography is exceptionally good too, from Mickey....

I loved my handful of brief stints doing the updates. They're surprisingly hard work, mind. Even harder when the place is full, because you want to get around and see different tables, but you just can't do the logistics.

Tighty's dry wit and energy is inimitable. Never beating it. Recounts your finest poker moment and follows it with the Roger Federer of backhanded compliments.

Tough act for anyone to compete with.

Well done, Trigg and MC.

They reckon the Monster will overlay by 50k, and the closer won’t meet the guarantee either.

Not even sure that's a thing, anymore.

You're probably more ITK than me, though.

I had booked a hotel for a couple days this week, but have spent the budget on $ to punt in Vegas.

Busy at work, but mainly because I'm lazy and haven't got a chauffeur :(

I think everyone, especially the card rooms, underestimate how much value the updates added.

Value in general enjoyment of a subset of players and spectators, or value in measurable ROI on the money spent?

Prove part 2 and i'm sure they'd be back in action! I suspect it was pitched based on fluffy assumptions a few times, but as the poker money train slowed down everyone was less willing to buy the story.

The updates made me want to get involved in the tournaments.
They sold the atmosphere of a weekend.

I agree. It was because of the buzz of going deep in a tournament that was covered properly, with updates and a commentated live stream, that I really got the bug for the game. I've done hundreds of thousands in rake at DTD, and I had a group of friends that would regularly come with me who have done a similar amount between them. They really added something to it, and it was touching to realise how many people that I knew outside of poker had seen it. My point is that they only need to get one person like me every now and then for it to make them loads, but it's not something you can quantify properly. I am 100% sure that having a good team updating tournaments and having a properly run live stream will bring you more customers in the long run. But since when did any casino in this country give a shit about the long run, which I guess is why proper tournament coverage is getting more rare.
