Title: Serious question
Post by: RED-DOG on May 22, 2019, 10:34:32 AM
What should the penalty be for throwing a milk-shake at a politician going about his lawful business assuming no harm is done other than to clothing and dignity?

ASBO if they still exist

Doesn't that have to be persistent antisocial behaviour, i.e not a one off?

From gov.uk;

You can get a civil injunction, Community Protection Notice (CPN) or Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) as punishment for antisocial behaviour.
Civil injunctions, CPNs and CBOs replaced Antisocial Behaviour Orders (ASBOs) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. ASBOs are still used in Scotland.
Antisocial behaviour includes:
drunken or threatening behaviour
vandalism and graffiti
playing loud music at night

I think it probably falls under threatening behaviour

Its assault and in the Farage case (as the Corbyn case) he has been charged and is going to Court.

Seems right to me if the victim presses charges......politician or joe public.

Oh I agree with the charge, I was just wondering about the penalty.

Perhaps if it wasn't too severe a group of 10 or 20 people could follow Boris and take turns to splat him every 5 mins or so.

nobody presses charges in the UK, that's an Americanism.

They either cooperate with the police or they don't, then it's up to the CPS to decide
