Title: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 05, 2020, 09:01:35 PM Tighty mentioned a picture quiz later in the week so here's another number quiz to tide us over. I think Ironside is doing a farcical reveal on Tuesday for the born again RSQ and so I'll keep this open until Wednesday and make my own effort at a reveal on Wednesday early evening, it can't be that hard can it ?
1. Alan Hansen, played for Scotland and won many medals with Liverpool in his career - add the sum of his winners medals for Liverpool in the League, FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup to his number of Scotland Caps for the full international side. 2. Derek Jeter's final MLB season for the New York Yankees was 2014 - how many RBIs (Runs batted in) did he achieve in his final season ? 3. Damon Hill was a successful F1 driver in the 90s. How many Grand Prix wins did he notch up ? 4. Bob Nudd won the last of his 4 World Freshwater Anglian Championships in 1999 in Toledo, Spain. What was the weight of his catch (answer in lbs) 5. In June 2010 Super James Dempsey won the Bracelet for the $1500 entry Pot Limit Holdem at the WSOP - how much did he win (answer in $000's please). 9. All the best and good luck Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: Karabiner on April 05, 2020, 11:59:50 PM In for a little more masochism.

Correct, I know a lot about the Nudd now. Quite interesting spending time reading about random people that I'd only vaguely heard of in some cases. 2 days to the reveal, we've got 9 in so far - potential Scotty's HoF points to be earned too ! Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 07:38:26 PM Here we are then, glass of red, scores notionally ready. No pictures to enliven things like the cracking job done by Bergeroo but hopefully some interesting info along the way.
So, let's crack on Question 1. Alan Hansen, played for Scotland and won many medals with Liverpool in his career - add the sum of his winners medals for Liverpool in the League, FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup to his number of Scotland Caps for the full international side. In his Liverpool career he won 17 medals. He didn't actually play in the 81-82 League cup final but he played in every round, so while people often slur this giant with claims he won 16, he has 17 medals including an incredible 8 league wins. For such a gifted player it seems farcical but he only won 26 full Scotland caps. Answer is 43 and here's how we guessed: Karabiner… 69 Arbboy…… 49 Juperjiper….. 89 Rubbish2407 44 Pokerpops… 92 KarmaDope 50 TightEnd…… 75 Dacorb…….. 88 celtic…… 77 bergeroo….. 100 scotty2hatty 98 bunnydas8888 88 Ironside….. 40 robbiebox…. 109 4KSuited…… 88 blatch…… 44 Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 07:41:59 PM So, Round 1 and Rubbish and Super Scot Ironside must have buried away the memory that he didn't win as many caps as most of us would think
Rubbish2407 1 blatch……… 1 Ironside……. 3 Arbboy……… 6 KarmaDope 7 Karabiner… 26 TightEnd…… 32 celtic………….. 34 Dacorb…….. 45 bunnydas8888 45 4KSuited…….. 45 Juperjiper….. 46 Pokerpops… 49 scotty2hatty 55 bergeroo……. 57 robbiebox……. 66 Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 07:42:22 PM Slurp

Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 07:45:55 PM On to question 2 which was - Derek Jeter's final MLB season for the New York Yankees was 2014 - how many RBIs (Runs batted in) did he achieve in his final season ?
One of the all time greats and after nearly 20 years at the top not surprising his record tailed off slightly in his last season but still notched up a decent 50 RBIs Our first duck of the game and a fair few knowledgable guesses Karabiner… 89 Arbboy……… 45 Juperjiper….. 113 Rubbish2407 44 Pokerpops… 20 KarmaDope 50 TightEnd…… 60 Dacorb…….. 90 celtic………….. 123 bergeroo……. 130 scotty2hatty 100 bunnydas8888 42 Ironside……. 40 robbiebox……. 65 4KSuited…….. 99 blatch……… 51 Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 07:49:00 PM Very solid scores at the top. Usual suspects Rubbish, Karma, Arb and Tight end interspersed with the rank outside Ironside, Celtic in his normal position and Bergeroo holding things up.
blatch……… 2 Rubbish2407 7 KarmaDope 7 Arbboy……… 11 Ironside……. 13 TightEnd…… 42 bunnydas8888 53 Karabiner… 65 Pokerpops… 79 robbiebox……. 81 Dacorb…….. 85 4KSuited…….. 94 scotty2hatty 105 celtic………….. 107 Juperjiper….. 109 bergeroo……. 137 Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 07:52:49 PM It's question 3. Damon Hill was a successful F1 driver in the 90s. How many Grand Prix wins did he notch up ?
He didn't race for that many years and is a man of varied interests. Still, in his time, he won enough to be the 14th winningest GP driver of all time with 22 career wins. Lots of answers very close in this one with 4Ksuited's novel guessing method hitting a home run Karabiner… 19 Arbboy……… 28 Juperjiper….. 23 Rubbish2407 27 Pokerpops… 40 KarmaDope 18 TightEnd…… 20 Dacorb…….. 150 celtic………….. 37 bergeroo……. 23 scotty2hatty 15 bunnydas8888 42 Ironside……. 40 robbiebox……. 13 4KSuited…….. 22 Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 07:55:31 PM Round 3 leaderboard and Karabiner should be checked for nosebleeds, can he scrape into the top 6 like his beloved Arsenal ? Early days
KarmaDope 11 Rubbish2407 12 Arbboy……… 17 Ironside……. 31 TightEnd…… 44 Karabiner… 68 bunnydas8888 73 robbiebox……. 90 4KSuited…….. 94 Pokerpops… 97 Juperjiper….. 110 scotty2hatty 112 celtic………….. 122 bergeroo……. 138 Dacorb…….. 213 Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 07:59:45 PM Aah question 4 about Nudders, the Nudster, Nudling - Bob Nudd won the last of his 4 World Freshwater Anglian Championships in 1999 in Toledo, Spain. What was the weight of his catch (answer in lbs)
Pretty sure no one would expect to know much about this and an interesting subject as winning catch weights vary so much year to year. In 1990 he won his 1st world title with a catch of 6lbs - but in Toledo the fish were jumping out of the water and he caught a huge 119 lbs of fishes. Here's what you all thought Karabiner… 189 70 Arbboy……… 69 50 Juperjiper….. 13 106 Rubbish2407 44 75 Pokerpops… 65 54 KarmaDope 99 20 TightEnd…… 123 4 Dacorb…….. 44 75 celtic………….. 76 43 bergeroo……. 230 111 scotty2hatty 20 99 bunnydas8888 52 67 Ironside……. 40 79 robbiebox……. 78 41 4KSuited…….. 111 8 Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 08:03:38 PM Round 4 sees a slight surge from 4k, Ironside looking one paced, clever cloggses in top 4 spots
KarmaDope 31 TightEnd…… 48 Arbboy……… 67 Rubbish2407 87 4KSuited…….. 102 Ironside……. 110 robbiebox……. 131 Karabiner… 138 bunnydas8888 140 Pokerpops… 151 celtic………….. 165 scotty2hatty 211 Juperjiper….. 216 bergeroo……. 249 Dacorb…….. 288 Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 08:07:53 PM Question 5 was Roger Federer has the longest men's winning streak on a Grass court - how many matches was he undefeated for ?
Pretty sure that this record will never be beaten, Fed may be the GOAT but our competitors may have forgotten that other Grass court tournaments exist so while Super Rog was winning Wimbledon from 2003-2008 he was winning other Grass court matches - incredibly, the undefeated run was 65 matches. Pokerpops slurs the great man and we've found a sport Rubbish isn't so good on, but overall some pretty good guesses here Karabiner… 49 Arbboy……… 39 Juperjiper….. 39 Rubbish2407 18 Pokerpops… 12 KarmaDope 61 TightEnd…… 40 Dacorb…….. 42 celtic………….. 45 bergeroo……. 47 scotty2hatty 48 bunnydas8888 47 Ironside……. 40 robbiebox……. 31 4KSuited…….. 111 Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 08:12:39 PM Half way and KD doing incredibly well chased by the no surprise contender, Tighty.
Congested mid table and with some big potential swings to come I think Dacorb, Bergeroo, Juper Jiper and scotty are still literally on the edge of their seats believing they may still have a chance KarmaDope 35 TightEnd…… 73 Arbboy……… 93 Rubbish2407 134 Ironside……. 135 4KSuited…….. 148 Karabiner… 154 bunnydas8888 158 robbiebox……. 165 celtic………….. 185 Pokerpops… 204 scotty2hatty 228 Juperjiper….. 242 bergeroo……. 267 Dacorb…….. 311 Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 08:16:30 PM Question 6. Spiridon Louis, innit, won the Men's Olympic Marathon held in Athens in 1896. Stopping to down a glass of wine half way through the race, what was his winning time in minutes ?
Loved reading this story, what's not to like about a man who stops to down a glass of red mid-race. Anyway, some extraordinary answers to this one - you can judge the extraordinary ones :-) Nearly forgot the answer - 179 mins, about the time an average club runner would come home in these days. Ironside, KD and Tighty going with the round 3 hours and coming so close Karabiner… 199 Arbboy……… 150 Juperjiper….. 96 Rubbish2407 270 Pokerpops… 200 KarmaDope 180 TightEnd…… 180 Dacorb…….. 145 celtic………….. 143 bergeroo……. 210 scotty2hatty 135 bunnydas8888 350 Ironside……. 180 robbiebox……. 189 4KSuited…….. 222 Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: Ironside on April 08, 2020, 08:18:16 PM So, Round 1 and Rubbish and Super Scot Ironside must have buried away the memory that he didn't win as many caps as most of us would think it was between 20 and 30 he was always pulled out injured Rubbish2407 1 blatch……… 1 Ironside……. 3 Arbboy……… 6 KarmaDope 7 Karabiner… 26 TightEnd…… 32 celtic………….. 34 Dacorb…….. 45 bunnydas8888 45 4KSuited…….. 45 Juperjiper….. 46 Pokerpops… 49 scotty2hatty 55 bergeroo……. 57 robbiebox……. 66 Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 08:19:10 PM No change at the top, Ironside and Karabiner looking nailed on for top 6 and it's a big deal for Robbiebox as he joins the top 6

They fought a lot back then, 200 or so pro fights, 100 or so amateur fights. Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 08:36:05 PM My favourite question as I've always been huge fan boy. In June 2010 Super James Dempsey won the Bracelet for the $1500 entry Pot Limit Holdem at the WSOP - how much did he win (answer in $000's please).
Was in Vegas this year but not at the time James won. What a thrill to live life vicariously. 9 days after this momentous win, the former member of mmm Mob and sharky 5/10 limit player on Tribeca in the day, came 2nd in the $10k Hi/Lo for a little over $300k. Bigger wins followed in other tournaments before he became bald and a commentator. Quite a few problems with visualisation amongst our entrants - a football pitch is say 110 x 50 or so yards, horses are big and fast so it's gonna be quite a bit bigger but how much bigger. Rubbish knew it was about 10 acres but struggled to convert, this into yards. Well, its 300m yards long and 160 yards wide and at the end Charles wins - answer is 460 yards. Celtic came up with something like a snooker table size, little tiny horses, quite a few others went about footie pitch size. Ironside, one minute pause to check your score, you're doing well - will KD or Tighty reveal a hitherto unspottable weakness on the last question. Unlikely but we can travel in hope, keep it going robbiebox

Beautiful friend the end.
And finally, one of the greatest annual events, someone asked what they would miss this year and on reflection I might put the TDF in No 1 if it doesn't take place - I'm not a keen cyclist or follower but I love the spectacle of the Tour, just like the Masters or Wimbledon. So Q10 was about a true great and living legend - Peter Sagan has won the points classification of the Tour De France in 7 of the last 8 Tours, what was his points total for his latest win in 2019 ? I've watched the tour a lot and would have had no idea except he won - took him until stage 3 in last year's tour to claim the Green Jersey and of course it was never off his back after that. Some WAGs (wild ass guesses) in this one Karabiner… 1999 Arbboy……… 2500 Juperjiper….. 90 Rubbish2407 409 Pokerpops… 120 KarmaDope 300 TightEnd…… 250 Dacorb…….. 65 celtic………….. 324 bergeroo……. 350 scotty2hatty 500 bunnydas8888 1600 Ironside……. 340 robbiebox……. 288 4KSuited…….. 1111 Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: Ironside on April 08, 2020, 08:58:03 PM TdeF used to be my favourite sporting event of the year

Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 09:02:52 PM Ironside is Joint 3rd with Robbie, well done chaps, rubbish maintaining the overall good knowledge and scoring and should accrue some HOF points. Swingy last question so sorry to those from 6th down, hard to know whether to make questions guessy or something you might be able to work out. KD and Tighty confirming the form with good all round knowledge and exceptional scores. Thanks to the few that were here - main aim was to while away a couple of hours and so mission accomplished. Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: Karabiner on April 08, 2020, 09:29:14 PM Thanks for some more amusing distraction Glen.
I knew that last question was going to be a complete shot in the dark for most people - especially me. Excellent reveal too. Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: scotty2hatty on April 08, 2020, 09:46:21 PM Thanks Nirvana, my horror run continues. Questions were tricky.
Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: KarmaDope on April 08, 2020, 09:52:25 PM Fucking hell, wasn't expecting that.
Thanks for questions Glenn, I suppose I'd better run one of these. If someone wants to put one up in the meantime plz do as I dont have any questions, yet. Least I can't ask everyone to name an Avenged Sevenfold album this time... rotflmfao Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: Dacorb on April 08, 2020, 10:40:10 PM Thanks for running, a very tough 1 quiz for me even without cricket questions lol.
Can't believe how far away I was in the Sugar Ray Robinson question, I've read his autobiography ffs, also misread Damon Hill question Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: Pokerpops on April 08, 2020, 10:50:32 PM Good stuff nirvana.
If ever I feel the urge to do another of these I’m going to lay down in a darkened room until it passes. We can keep trying though 😊 Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: nirvana on April 08, 2020, 11:01:54 PM Good stuff nirvana. Title: Re: Guess the number #7 Post by: bergeroo on April 09, 2020, 01:24:04 AM was a great quiz. Somehow I achieved mid table. Saved by the cycling. For the fishing one I had no idea if it was for one fish, lots of fish, how long it would be allowed for him to catch said fish...
