MCQ - Season 4 Preview

Rubbish2407 has a 100% record in MCQ having debuted in S-2 with a runaway 4pt win and then following up with a narrower win in S-3, although he did inadvertently miss one question so could have win by a greater margin. No surprise to see him heading up the HatBrokes market at 5/2 but is there any value in backing the Welshman at that price? Whilst Rubbish has finished top in the last two seasons, the same man has finished 2nd to him on both occasions with degston77 being the unlucky man. A blow up over the final 3 questions cost degston77 in S-3 and if he can hold his bottle this season then he may be the better of the betting propositions at 7/2.

Also near the head of the market is Tal who has competed in S-1 and S-3 with 2nd and 4th place finishes. He looks nailed on for a top 5 finish again and can be backed at 6/1. TightEnd has become the nearly man of MCQ in a number of ways - in S-1 he 'nearly' finished last and in S-3 he nearly finished in the top 6. He does have a top 5 finish to his name in S-2 and can clearly compete with the best of them when on form, he can be backed at 8/1.

Just behind the heads of the market we have Archer (1st, 9th, 9th) at 16/1 who is perhaps still living off his S-1 glory but it wouldn't take much to move from midtable to the top 6. Dacorb is available to back at 25/1 and there will be some who think that represents each way value after his 6th place finish in S-3 but with 10th, 7th and 6th placed finishes to his name he'll need to show big improvement to challenge at the top.

Two newcomers follow in the market, with HatBrokes having had their fingers burnt with HutchGF last season, which sees Doobs at 33/1 and Ricardov83 at 40/1. Doobs should go well whereas Ricardov83 is a complete unknown.

Karabiner is consistently midtabling (9th, 10th, 12th), something his 50/1 offering represents and whilst there has been rumours he has put in a strong pre-season on the golf course he'd still need to find something impressive to even make him worth an each-way bet. superwomble joins Karabiner on 50/1 and was a tough one to place as he showed title challenging form in the first half of debut season whilst then demonstrating he could be this season's bergeroo in the second half of that season.

With 14th, 8th and 15th place finishes, it would suggest stribling will be struggling at the wrong end of the table but has shown brief glimpses of his quality and no chances have been taken at 66/1. Pokerpops follows in behind at 80/1 after two 14th placed results so far but he strikes me as someone who will also flirt with the bottom end of the table. A couple of ever presents are available to back at 100/1 in the shape of Alverton and Juperjiper and both could be of some interest with Alverton having a 4th placed finish (S-1) to his name and Juper with a 6th place in S-2. ForthThistle is another with a high finish to his name (T-4th S-2) available at big prices (125/1) but was 18th last season and never looked like getting out of the bottom 6.

Following those players in the market are what HatBrokes look to have nailed on for bottom end of the table finishes. arbboy has three consecutive bottom section finishes, although has always looked more likely to push up the table rather than drop in to contention to finish in the bottom couple. He's available at 250/1. 4KSuited had a tremendous 3rd place finish in S-1 but has followed that up with a 17th (last) and a 19th and he looks unlikely to defy his 300/1 pricing. The bottom two in the market are celtic (500/1) and nirvana (1000/1) who finished 20th and 22nd in their debuting S-3 and both have taken to the press this week to talk down their own chances.

Two late entries in kp24 and Ironside. Both who have been added to the betting at 100/1 and 250/1 respectively.

Klose's World Cup performances catching many out on Q2.

In Season 3 we had a large number of players who got off to long undefeated streaks but after only two questions of S-4 we are down to only 3 players with perfect records and no surprises amongst those three names.

At the other end, superwomble has continued his end of S-3 form and he is joined on zero points nirvana and Juperjiper.

Debutant kp24 has had an exceptional start to the season and sits tied at the top with Tal on 7pts. Tal has to be delighted with his start too, given the league position of some of his main rivals, and could be close to leading the betting at this stage. Two players sit a point behind the leaders with one expected, TightEnd, and one less so, Pokerpops - both will be very pleased with their current top 6 standing. They are joined in the top 6 by big names degston77 and Archer but they are just 2 of 9 player tied on 5pts.

In the bottom 6, Juperjiper continues on zero points after 4 questions with superwomble only one point better off. There's one shocking name in the current bottom 6 and that is that of defending champion and betting favourite Rubbish2407. There's a long way to go but this is not the start the champion would have hoped for in his quest for 3 in a row. Dacorb is another surprising name in the bottom 6 with arbboy less surprising to be there.

Told you my lucky run was coming to an end.

At the quarter way point of the season we have 3 name joined at the top, with Pokerpops, somewhat surprisingly joining Tal and kp24 on 8pts. TightEnd and stribling sit one point back on 7 and stribling is no real shock being in the top 6 given he's floated about there in previous seasons but is known to drop off with big stamina doubts. degston77 has 3 wrong in a row but still finds himself in the top 6.

degston77 is however tied on 6pts with 4 other names, including newcomers Doobs and Ricardov83 who could both go well from here. Karabiner has of course settled in to his favourite midtable spot.

Juperjiper has now had the worst start to any MCQ season with zero points from 5 questions and has a mammoth task on his hands to gain some respectability with celtic already 5pts clear of him in the first available safe spot. superwomble and arbboy have both had poor starts and sit on 2pts whilst Rubbish2407 still finds himself in the bottom 6.

Tal and Pokerpops are now the two leaders, managing to shrug kp24 off somewhat as he drops in to a tie for 3rd with fans' favourite TightEnd. Pokerpops is really defying his pre-season odds and this is by far his best performance thus far and the writer of the preview must really be worrying about his quote of: "someone who will also flirt with the bottom end of the table". stribling and 4KSuited make up the top 6 with degston77 now having 4 wrong in a row and eventually dropping out.

degston77 is tied for 7th place with some, perhaps, surprising names, none more so than celtic who looks to be a new man this season. Doobs and Archer also sit on 7pts, just one point away from the top 6.

The fans in Juperjiperville were dancing in the streets after securing their first point of the season but that is now 6 incorrect in a row and he still lies in last place. Rubbish2407 is really in a slump and no one would have imagined this start to the campaign for the champion.

After 7 questions we have a clear leader for the first time as Tal looks to make good his favouritism at HatBrokes. He sits on 12pts with Pokerpops, TightEnd and kp24 all trailing by only a single point. degston77 spell outside the top 6 lasted one question as makes his way back in, along with celtic who is competing with Pokerpops for the surprise package thus far.

Doobs is another player impressing as he sits on 9pts, the same as degston77 and celtic. Behind Doobs we have 7 players on 7 or 8 points, showing just how tight the middle of the table is sitting. One of those on 8pts is Dacorb who has flown out of the bottom 6 and with 3 correct in a row is the second most in form player in the league (celtic has 4 in a row).

In the bottom 6, a number of players scored 2pts including Rubbish2407 and arbboy which improves their situation but Juperjiper's single point isn't enough to get him any closer to getting off the bottom spot and he now has 7 incorrect in a row.

There has been a minor breakaway at the top with the top 3 having a 2pt lead over the others with Pokerpops hitting a mini slump after his promising start. degston77 finds himself back up to 4th after correctly answering two in a row and Doobs has landed himself a spot in the top 6 in his debut season.

Doobs is sitting on 10pts tied with stribling, 4KSuited, Archer and Dacorb. stribling has started better than expected, as has 4KSuited who looks to have rediscovered his S-1 form. Archer is showing the same consistency as he has over the last few seasons whilst Dacorb is now the league form player with his 4 correct in a row throwing him the bottom 6 to the verge of the top 6. celtic's zero pointer has devastating effects as he drops from 6th to 13th.

Juperjiper still props up the table and now sits on 3pts with zero correct from 8. The battle to escape the bottom 6 has heated up with Rubbish2407 and superwomble only in the bottom 6 on random order. In fact, those two players are only two points from the top 6, showing how tight the table is at this early stage.

Tal slips up somewhat and that allows TightEnd and kp24 in to tie him at the top of the table on 15pts. All three have been superbly consistent thus far and fully deserving of their top spots. They maintain their 2pt lead from degston77 who has bounced back well from his 4 wrong in a row to bang out 3 correct in a row. Doobs and 4KSuited round out the top 6 with 4KSuited definitely showing his S-1 form now. However, those two players are tied with Archer and Dacorb, just showing how tight this season is.

Pokerpops' slump continues and with 1pt from the last 3 questions he has dropped from the top 6 to 11th. ForthThistle has been getting it quietly and cruising along on 11pts, as is stribling. Rubbish2407 escapes the bottom 6 eventually and is only a point further back. He is now tied with celtic and Karabiner.

Ironside and Ricardov83 are now in the bottom 6 and have 5 and 4 incorrect answers in a row respectively. Juperjiper is bottom by 3pts and is 0 for 9 on questions.

At the halfway stage we have a clear leading pack as the top 3 have broken away with a 3pt lead over the rest. TightEnd has 5 in a row correct and is the form player of the 3. Archer and Dacorb have successfully grabbed places in the top 6 for the first time this season with Dacorb's story being the most entertaining having been in the bottom 6 after 4 questions but has 6 correct in a row to show that last season's form was no fluke. degston77 completes the top 6 on 13pts, 4 behind the leaders.

4KSuited and Doobs drop 7 places each out of the top 6 with 4KSuited shooting himself in the foot by answering France when they were not one of the options. They sit on 12pts, along with 4 others. stribling is on 13pts, tied with degston77 who sits inside the top 6. Rubbish2407 is one of those on 12pts and the defending champion has made a miraculous turnaround to sit one point outside the top 6.

Juperjiper ended his incorrect streak at 9 to give himself a fighting chance of escaping the bottom 6. arbboy, superwomble and nirvana have also been fixtures in the bottom 6 throughout the first half of the season and they are joined by Alverton and Ricardov83. The second half of the season starts off badly for table topper and bookies' favourite Tal who zero points it to leave TightEnd and kp24 2pts clear at the top. He still has a 2pt lead over the other three in the top 6 who all sit on 15pts. Dacorb is amongst them but his run of correct answers came to an end on this question. celtic, 4KSuited and Archer all sit on 14pts, one point outside the top 6.

At the other end of the table it looks to have tightened up somewhat with the likes of Pokerpops and ForthThistle now pulled in to the battle. Juperjiper remains at the bottom.

A couple of significant moves in the top 6 following what was a tough question with only 5 correct answers. kp24 and TightEnd extended their lead at the top to 3pts over Tal which is an excellent lead but we all saw what happened last season and where Rubbish2407 came from to win. degston77 also answered correctly meaning he pinches a point lead over Dacorb and stribling who also remain in the top 6.

Archer sits in 7th on the same points as Dacorb and stribling and we potentially have a break away elite group with it being 2pts back to 4KSuited in 8th. 8th to 13th are split by only a single point and anyone can go on a run from that group to challenge for the top 6.

Pokerpops stopped his rot with his first correct answer in the last 7 but ForthThistle is in real danger and has 4 zero pointers in a row. That still isn't enough to drag him in to the bottom 6 but he is tied on 11pts with 3 other players.

Yet again the top 6 all answer correctly and they're all performing at a high level as we near the business end of the season. TightEnd now has 9 correct in a row with kp24 having 8 in a row, meaning those two are fully worthy of their current lead.

A lot of correct answers again meant little change in the middle of the table but Karabiner and Doobs have two wrong in a row and could be losing form at the wrong time whilst celtic has 3 incorrect in a row after looking like a top 6 contender at the half way stage.

A number of correct answers from the bottom 8/9 mean that they close the difference up somewhat and that will be an interesting end to the season at the wrong end of the table. Juperjiper's correct answer gives him a chance of getting off the bottom. superwomble has 6 wrong in a row now and is in real danger of being caught by Juperjiper, with only a 2pt buffer.

With Tal's incorrect answer, I think we are safe to say that Season 4 of the MCQ is down to a two horse race with TightEnd and kp24 flying in the lead on 27pts. It looks like any small mistake could hand the title to the other. degston77 continues his own streak and moves above Tal to 3rd with the two on 24 and 23pts. stribling dropped a point to leave Dacorb clear of him in 5th.

Archer is on 21pts, tied with stribling, and at this stage it looks like the top 6 will be battled out by those 7 players although 4KSuited and celtic have outside chances. Karabiner has continued his midtable ways throughout and his lack of mentions tells you everything you need to know about the player with no real danger of troubling either "6".

After his horror run, ForthThistle now has two correct in a row but that has not allowed him to move significantly clear of the bottom 6 with only a point lead over Ricardov83 and arbboy. It was a bad question for Juperjiper as superwomble (7 wrong streak) pinched a point to move 3pts clear.

It was claimed that the first of the top 2 to slip up could hand the title to the other but amazingly, after long correct streaks, both kp24 and TightEnd answer Q16 incorrectly. To make matters worse for the market leaders, degston77 and Tal both answered correctly to reduce their gaps to 2 and 3 points respectively with the leaders remaining on 27pts. Dacorb was another to answer incorrectly and that moves him from 5th to 6th with stribling leapfrogging him. stribling is having the season of his life.

Dacorb is sitting on 22pts which is the same as Archer in 7th with 4KSuited and celtic a single point back. Realistically the top 6 race will come to those aforementioned 9. Doobs, Rubbish2407, Karabiner and Ironside look to have solidified midtable positions.

Ricardov83 has been in the bottom 6 for a long time but has finally escaped with ForthThistle dropping in. Only 2pts separate 7 players from 14th to 20th so they all have chances of getting out of trouble. Juperjiper is 3pts adrift at the bottom.

TightEnd keeps it interesting until the end by dropping a point on Q19 and he takes a 2pt lead in to the final question. He sits on 32pts with kp24 (who missed an opportunity to close to within 1pt) and Tal both on 30pts. degston77's title dream is over for another season and he really is the nearly man of MCQ and he is now guaranteed to be the only player to have finished in the top section in all 4 seasons. Two new faces enter the top 6 with one question remaining as 4KSuited and celtic take advantage of mistakes by Dacorb and Archer. Although both still have chances to finish in the top 6, as does stribling.

Another exceptional season of the MCQ draws to a close and it may have taken 4 seasons but eventually renowned quizzer TightEnd secures victory on the final question in what was a superbly strong showing throughout. Tal in second place chased valiantly but realistically never looked liked catching the eventual winner late on Tal takes his 2nd runners up spot in the 3 seasons he has competed with a 4th place rounding out what has been an amazing MCQ career thus far and surely it won't be long until the title is his. Once again degston77 had a fantastic showing, finishing in 3rd, only 3pts off the winner and he has had 4 top section finishes in the 4 seasons and is the only player to do so. kp24 had a very impressive debut season, not too dissimilar to HutchGF last season, and finished comfortably in 4th but for a long way he looked to be a possible winner. However, 3 incorrect answers to finish meant it wasn't to be. The top 6 was completed by 4KSuited and celtic. 4KSuited has had a mixed MCQ career thus far and finished last in S-2 but showed what he was all about this season adding a 6th place finish to his 3rd place in S-1. celtic was the surprise package of the season in many people's eyes as the 500/1 shot finished 5th. He was rumoured to have had a lumpy bet on himself and will be delighted with the each way pay out.

4KSuited pipped stribling and Archer by correct answers as they tied in 7th. stribling will be delighted with his performance whereas Archer always flirts with the top 6 and will have hoped to have sneaked in. Two time champion Rubbish2407 finished in 9th after a horror start whilst 3 wrong answers to finish done for Dacorb's dreams of consecutive top 6 finishes and he has to make do with 10th. He was followed by debutant Doobs in 11th who was solid in midtable throughout and has give himself a platform to build on for MCQ5. Ironside finished in 12th using a guess system. Another debutant, Ricardov83, finished 2pts behind Ironside in 13th and will have been pleased with that finish given he was in the bottom 6 for a long spell. Pokerpops finished in 14th in what was a bizarre season. He was looking like a likely title challenger early, if not at least a top 6 challenger but went on a horror run and has ended up avoiding the bottom 6 by a single point. ForthThistle jumped out of the bottom 6 in the final question in what was an amazing finish at the end.

ForthThistle's space in the bottom 6 was filled by Karabiner who had a poor second half to the season and 3pts in the final 5 questions was his undoing, putting an end to his string of midtable finishes. In fact he finished in 17th with arbboy also jumping above him on the final question. Unfortunately for arbboy his strong finish to the season (7pts from 8) wasn't enough to escape the bottom 6 and he really is the unlucky man again as he missed out on correct answers. Alverton finished a point further back in 18th with superwomble and nirvana again just failing to escape the bottom 6 in a tie for 19th. The unfortunate last place finisher was Juperjiper who really struggled to put any form together throughout the season and finished on 14pts.

Tough start on monday getting involved in tracks i don't like because of the buzz of having racing back.   Since i focused on Romf/Cray/Sund (my fav tracks tight bends with plenty of carnage and the draw more important) its all been good so far.  Some serious gambles have been landed this week though from crazy morning prices.

Yeah, I missed two 3/1 opening shots at Newcastle yesterday as was playing tennis and both evens by time I got a chance. Both won well too. Enjoyed Newcastle last night, was a good few spots.

Scotty they adjusted the start times of the afternoon dogs from today as well to avoid clashes of 2 races from sis/arc clashing and going off at the same time which is a good thing. 2 or 3 minutes between every race now.
