Title: WSOP 2021 dates announced.
Post by: tikay on April 01, 2021, 09:00:05 PM
Just had this e-Mail;

World Series of Poker® Announces Plans for 2021

The Gaming Industry’s Largest Poker Tournament Series Anticipated for Sept. 30 - Nov. 23 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino

Summer to See the Return of WSOP Online; WSOP Europe in Rozvadov to Round out 2021

LAS VEGAS (April 1, 2021) –The World Series of Poker (WSOP) today announced much-anticipated plans for 2021, including the return of the live, in-person World Series of Poker event and $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em World Championship, best known as “The Main Event®”.

World Series of Poker at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino

The world-famous tournament series, which experienced record-smashing participation in 2019 and adjusted to a hybrid format to accommodate 2020, will be back in-person at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino this fall pending applicable state and/or regulatory approvals.  Cards will be in the air for a diverse calendar of events beginning Thursday, Sept. 30 with all play concluding on Tuesday, Nov. 23.

The 2021 opening weekend is expected to feature a special charity event to benefit frontline health workers, a $25,000 H.O.R.S.E. and a $5 million GTD No-Limit Hold’em event billed as “The Reunion.”

Further details and specifics on the complete schedule will be released this summer.

“The Main Event” is expected to begin Thursday, Nov. 4 and run through Wednesday, Nov. 17.  Players will have their choice of four starting days on Thursday, Nov. 4, Friday, Nov. 5, Saturday, Nov. 6 or Sunday, Nov. 7. Players participating on Thursday or Friday will have their Day 2 on Monday, Nov. 8 if they survive the first day with chips.  Those selecting Saturday or Sunday for an opening flight will play their Day 2 on Tuesday, Nov. 9, with the fields combining on Wednesday, Nov. 10.

Hotel room reservations are now being accepted across Caesars Entertainment’s Las Vegas resorts, including the headquarters at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, with rates as low as $60 for existing Caesars Rewards members. Visit www.caesars.com using promo code “WSOPM” to make your room reservations. Online pre-registration won’t open until this summer, after all events have been determined and approved by regulators.

Specific COVID-19 safety protocols and other related 2021 tournament policies will be reviewed with gaming regulators in the lead-up to the event.  The World Series of Poker will be compliant with all directives from the state of Nevada regarding social distancing and capacity limits on the tournament dates.

“This year, more than ever, we embrace our role at the WSOP to deliver memorable experiences and bring this community of poker lovers back together.  In 2021, the theme is, get vaccinated and get back to Vegas,” said Ty Stewart, WSOP Executive Director.

WSOP Online 2021

Building off last summer’s record-setting success for both domestic and international online poker tournaments, WSOP plans to fill the summer void with an exciting slate of WSOP Gold Bracelet online events.

In 2020, WSOP.com’s domestic series awarded nearly $27 million in prize money across its 31 events, making it far and away the biggest online tournament series in the history of U.S. regulated poker.

Similarly, WSOP Online 2020 was a massive draw for international players in partnership with GGPoker, with the WSOP Online Main Event smashing the Guinness Book World Record for largest online poker tournament with a $27.5 million prize pool for a single event.  In total, nearly $150 million in prize money was awarded across the festival, including seven-figure prize pools in 45 events, making it amongst the biggest tournament series in history.

WSOP.com will hold the domestic tournaments on its All-American Poker Network beginning Thursday, July 1, closing with a $1,000 championship. Qualification will be available for as little as $1.

Complete information about the WSOP Online tournament schedule will be released and published on www.wsop.com on April 15, 2021. Additional information on the international component of WSOP Online 2021 will be published shortly thereafter.

WSOP Europe 2021

WSOP Europe is expected to round out the year of poker action with its return to King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic running from Friday, Nov. 19 through Tuesday, Dec. 8, subject to regulatory approval.

“We hope and anticipate travel restrictions will ease by the fall,” said Stewart. “It’s important to us that we have an excellent tournament schedule available to our European players.”

The tournament is expected to include 15 gold bracelet events, including a 10,000 euro buy-in WSOP Europe Main Event and a 50,000 euro High Roller event.  For more information on King’s Casino and to book hotel rooms, visit https://kings-resort.com/.

One good thing - if it goes ahead - will be NFL fans can get to see a game in that magnificent looking new Stadium. If Social-Distancing allows, of course.

So many ifs...

The last "proper" WSOP Main Event was 2019, & attracted 8,569 entries.

Anyone care to guess how many it will get this year?

6,000?

I'm selling big time at 6,000.

Think I'm nearer the south side of 4,000.

Might as well start punting now. Starbies & Burgers next time we're there?

I'll take the over on your line, as I'd guess it's prob much sharper than mine :D

BOOKED

I'm not wholly confident on 4,000, but I'm very confident it won't make 6,000.

We need Argue or Chomps to make some proper odds.

Odds on an April fool?

Ha, that was my snap reaction, but I received the e-Mail direct from the WSOP Press Team & it looked legit to me, though I'm easily duped.

It's all over 2 + 2 too.

And it was announced on the WSOP Twitter feed with the blue check mark;

Booked up!

Rather odd, but I'm looking forward to getting back in the American Bar & Grille :)

Odds on an April fool?

Same as Tikay, that was my first thought.

We know that mob don't like to joke about their monies, though.

Feels like things are finally getting back to normal now.

I wouldn't have a clue as to the ME numbers. Would favour one extreme or the other, as in a record or a record recent low, but no idea which. Hope this helps :)

I'll be playing it though.

If only.

Highly unlikely at present, but not impossible.

It seems unlikely.  I need some serious binkage or to start working again to justify it.

It should be fine for us and the Americans with vaccinations by then.  Not sure I'd want to be sharing tables and air with too many Brazilians, though it will probably have run through those poor sods by then.

Can't see me in much danger outside poker and flights as have beckme quite the master at social distancing outside poker on previous trips.  Good luck Marky.

Saw some articles before I went to Turkey last year, and it looked like the filtration on planes is really good. Might have been codswallop, though.

At a guess it'll be decent schedules at Aria/Wynn/Venetian, and I'd presume Nugget/Orleans, too.

To be fair, am going to be pretty grumpy missing out on a stay at the Wynn, and it is probably as good a year as any to get a final table, as the numbers must surely be down.  A lot of people must be skint and I wouldn't really want the chance of a 2 week quarantine coming back (or going).  Though 3 weeks without family hastles can be appealing at times.

I have a few thousand dollars, but hopefully I can spend them next year.

Now if I just run good during SCOOP...

Paul Charles just tweeting that the gov have announced there will be a traffic light system, so given how quickly they/we are vaccinating, you have to think it's unlikely there will be any quarantining, unless you swing through Brazil on the way home.

We were going to cancel Vegas Boston ie early September and swap seats for end September for 6 weeks but there’s no Mike’s n money seats around that time
If desperate to go I may try Lhr  to LAX/ Seattle /Dallas  and then an internal flight
We shall see I’ve been since 2004 obv only. Missing last year

Too much work, not enough life! Live in a village now and have an allotment - how life is changing!!!
And I just fancy a trip to Vegas so I thought I'd look at satellites etc - probably play the Seniors event if they have one.
So sad seeing so many RIP posts on here.

PS- Did you notice how I resisted making a joke about lady gardens? I must be growing up.

World Series of Poker® to Require Proof of Full COVID-19 Vaccination for 2021 Tournament and Main Event

The Gaming Industry’s Largest Poker Tournament Series Begins Thursday, Sept. 30 and Runs Through Tuesday, Nov. 23 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino

LAS VEGAS (August 27, 2021) –The World Series of Poker (WSOP) today announced that anyone attending the 2021 World Series of Poker tournament and $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em World Championship, best known as “The Main Event®,” will be required to show proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The event returns to live play at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino with the policy in effect beginning Thursday, Sept. 30 through Tuesday, Nov. 23.

“This is not a decision we have taken lightly–it is made with no agenda beyond protecting player eligibility and the operations of a unique televised gaming event,” said Ty Stewart, WSOP Executive Director. “The nature of poker is to be in close proximity with your opponents for extended periods of time, and a seat at the World Series of Poker is a commitment for both our company and the participants. We want players to be excited for their return to the WSOP, while offering the greatest level of protection and limiting complications during the tournament this fall.”

Participants will be required to show proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 one time, upon first registration, to become eligible to participate in WSOP events, including bracelet events, deep stack tournaments, satellites and live action games.

The WSOP will make use of CLEAR’s free mobile app and Health Pass feature. Participants who successfully add their proof of full vaccination through CLEAR's Health Pass may go directly to the registration cage tellers within the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino Convention Center.  WSOP will also provide an on-site center to verify alternate documentation including physical vaccination cards, and state or country-specific health passes.

To be considered “fully vaccinated” against COVID-19, participants must receive their final vaccine dose 14 days prior to start date. This policy is inclusive of all participants, press, spectators and vendors.

Consistent with current CDC guidelines and state mandates, all attendees and Team Members will be required to wear masks. Additionally, with the new policy, fully vaccinated WSOP participants who may have been exposed to a person who has tested positive will not be required to leave the tournament and quarantine if they remain asymptomatic since the time of exposure.

This thread has been quiet.

I saw Negreanu and Hellmuth enter that $50K Omaha high roller and thought they'd be bad value in it, but both are battling it out in the last 3.  Looks like they'll try and finish it tonight as they'll want to jump in the 50K hold'em.   Easy bracelets obv.

LAS VEGAS (February 23, 2022) --- The 53rd World Series of Poker® (WSOP®) – the richest, most prestigious and longest-running poker series – today announced the daily event schedule for 2022. Following a successful 17-year run at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, the WSOP moves to the Las Vegas Strip for the very first time at Bally’s, the future Horseshoe, and Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, and will feature the WSOP’s inaugural Master of Ceremonies, Vince Vaughn.

The move to the Strip builds upon the legacy for Caesars Entertainment’s World Series of Poker, as the first-ever tournament was played at Las Vegas’ original Horseshoe in 1970. Doors open on Tuesday, May 31 with exciting action through the event's conclusion on Wednesday, July 20.

"This year is particularly historic for the WSOP with its move to the heart of the Las Vegas Strip and debut in the best facilities we’ve ever had," said Ty Stewart, the WSOP's Executive Director residing over his 17th WSOP. "We’re ready to welcome players from all over the world to our housewarming party at Bally’s, soon-to-be Horseshoe, and Paris. The schedule is jam-packed with first-class events and we expect this to be the biggest and most anticipated WSOP yet.”

WSOP will again feature the much-anticipated $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em World Championship, also known as the "Main Event", which in 2021 hosted 6,650 entrants from around the world despite taking place during a pandemic. This year’s Main Event is back to its traditional time frame around the July 4 holiday, beginning on Sunday, July 3.  The legendary deep-stack tournament will continue play through the Final Table on Friday, July 15 and Saturday, July 16.

The WSOP’s new home will include all convention space at both Paris Las Vegas and Bally’s. This will create the largest tournament capacity in the event’s history with over 200,000 square feet and 600 poker tables. The 2022 WSOP will host a wide variety of tournaments ranging in price from $400 to $250,000.  The main cage will be placed at Paris Las Vegas while the TV set staging will be in the Bally’s Event Center as the two buildings are connected and share a parking garage.

This year’s tournament will also feature a $5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool WSOP opening weekend dubbed “The Housewarming”, featuring a $500 buy-in. This popular price point for the opening weekend has generated some of the largest field sizes in the history of poker. Last year’s “Reunion” event generated a whopping 12,973 entrants and organizers are expecting an even larger field as the event returns to its traditional summer schedule.

WSOP will work with broadcast partner CBS Sports for a second season of coverage with daily streaming on PokerGo. Produced exclusively by Poker Central, there will be 18 different bracelet events to be televised with a minimum of 15 hours of coverage for the 2022 Main Event.

When booking early, entrants of the WSOP bracelet events can enjoy reduced hotel room rates at Bally’s and Paris, as well as all Caesars Entertainment resorts in Las Vegas by using the special advanced booking code "WSOP22". Rates are based on availability and are subject to change. To view a complete list of rates across all Caesars Entertainment properties, please visit our Reservations page.

Schedule highlights below. To view the entire gold bracelet schedule, please visit WSOP 2022 Schedule where a downloadable version is provided.

27-06 -   $600 NLHE Deepstack    11:00
30-06 -   $600 PLO Deepstack      11:00
04-07 -  $1000 NLHE $1m Bty 1c  12:00
