Very Strange

Apparently he got the money back from her after she offered it to him off camera.

Apparently he got the money back from her after she offered it to him off camera.

Think he then gave it back to her?

Do we know what happened in the end?

She is currently on Joey Ingram's Twitch digging an even deeper hole.

I have no idea who Joey Ingram is or what his Twitch might be.

Digging a hole as in justifying the call?

She keeps changing her story.

But wait. You have no idea who Joey Ingram is?

Thanks.

What is her story/stories?

Has to be a misread or a complete brain fart, what else can she say?

Garrett would have been thrilled to see such a balls up if he had any hand other than a draw.

Can't imagine why there is any talk of giving money back. He would have to take my last breath with it to get it off me.

I say that with such feeling because I've made similar balls ups and I've paid my money and forced a smile while everyone shook their heads and took the piss. No way I'm giving it back when the boot is on the other foot.

I would however say, "Misread, hard luck mate."

She is currently on Joey Ingram's Twitch digging an even deeper hole.

One way of reading it.  She says she was threatened by him; which is at least disputed.  He seemed pretty angry though.

When was it ok to start criticising the fish again?

Both parties are currently suspended.  Will wait to see what occurs.

FWIW I once called down with 8 high live thinking I had a straight and this happened many years after I started playing.  I didn't win.  I still do it frequently online, though a lot of that is multitabling. This looks so odd.  To me  it looks like she had a decent read on what he had, and partially misread her own hand.  Then she got flustered when it looked ridiculous.   Not confident on any of this, but he isn't winning any fans here.

Think they just want to check what has occured for the integrity of the game.

Postle was a whole series of dodgy looking hands, this doesn't look like that from a distance.  Am at work, so not following that closely, but it doesn't appear that there is a series of questionable moves and have seen it suggested she folds too much.  Think it is likely just a bad call come good right now.

Title: Re: Weirdest hand ever?
Post by: nirvana on September 30, 2022, 04:00:50 PM
I think his reaction is pathetic, I made a massive bet so you should fold - don't know why she can't say I put you on 8 high or some blahblah about yr always at it so i just felt like spite calling even though there's a good likelihood i'm behind. Or just say, I don't know what I'm doing, smile sweetly and rake it in.

This kind of stuff is why poker is so dull, can't actually believe I spent a deece portion of my life on this kind of shenanigans. Think I just liked wine and talking bollox to people who couldn't up and leave.

One thing for sure. Adelstein’s face when he sees her hand will feature in a lot of gifs and memes.

The idea that she was somehow cheating seems a massive stretch to me. 2plus2 is all over it though so I’m sure the truth will out  ;whistle; ;whistle;

I remember reading about Stu Ungar calling Matloubi’s river shove in a $50k HU game with ten high.

I remember sitting next to I KNOW IT deep in a Walsall J10 event and watching him snap-call a turn shove with K high, no hand no draw. I looked on with my jaw on the felt as he slapped his hand down with such confidence. Sent that guy to the rail talking to himself.

I even remember the late, great MANTIS01 fist-pump slam-dunk calling a river shove in the latter stages of a Vegas event with A high. I was so in tune with the poker universe I felt the magical vibrations of a higher energy..(admittedly on that occasion my opponent tabled quad 7’s but whatever)

Adelstein may say ‘poker’ is an extremely complicated and nuanced game’ but I reckon it’s nothing compared to the workings of an average human brain. Don’t think I can remember a poker comp where some action or another hasn’t boggled my brain. How? WTF? Pffft!

Never seen somebody take their money back before though. Interestingly the thousands of examples I’ve seen could never be due to a hidden vibrating device or knowing the river cards in advance when running it twice. So what was the logical explanation back then? Really, the fascinating enigma of poker is how classic wizards cannot fathom the off-topic actions of inexplicable artists. It’s simply illogical captain.

Here they must have given the fish with no poker understanding a vibrating device. Plus offering my money back would be a big admission of guilt so hey presto she offered it back, clearly admitting her guilt. These brainiac suggestions make perfect logical sense to my Dr Spock mind. It’s not that I’m a massive cry baby and my oppo thought fuck it call, fuck it have your dollar back.

Just watch  a hand earlier with Garrett v Andy
Ak Garrett re raises an open
Andy 4-5 bets 55
Garrett flats
Flop q-8-4
Check check to river
There’s slow play between 2 of hsp s biggest players if ever I’ve seen it

He 4 bets with 45o?  Feels like he should bet on an A high or K high flop, but check behind on Q84.  Don't know turn and river, but it looks plausible given the pre flop action and the flop.  Why would AK bet when he thinks opponent has a pair?  why would 45 bet when he only gets called by better.

Think 45 can bet turn, but definitely isn't clear.   And I am no fan of Garret, who seems worse by the hour.  Can't see any amateur wanting to play with him in future.  I wouldn't, I can't stand sore losers at the best of times, and he has gone way beyond a bit of grumbling after the hand.

Just too much going on, so I think I'll just wait and see what comes out in the wash.

I've been busy with PokerGO which is becoming better value for money every year.

Super High Roller Bowl was a great 3 days viewing, and before that  we had the Poker Masters.

Schulman and Nejad might just be the greatest!

A fascinating read for sure but ultimately flaky. Lying about relationships and borrowing money isn't admissible evidence in this case m'lud.

The video footage is allowed. This shows so-called 'hand-signalling' which is seen as arm across chest with finger at full extension pointing at shoulder. If we think about all the ingenious ways to signal each other would we really use something so physically stark? I could take a sip from my drink and put it down on the left corner of the coaster for instance. I wouldn't be doing the actions from YMCA or Mo Farah's Mobot move.

Catching sight of something away from the table and mouthing "Get it" is evidence of the need to retrieve a signalling device on the floor? Or perhaps they ordered some Class A to enhance the evening's entertainment and Big Tony just turned up at the window. Kinda explains all the guilty looks and rambling chat.

The objective was to obtain monies by deception? This had been successfully achieved. So handing back £135k seems compelling evidence to the contrary. Plus the fella signalling to call with J4 must've had too much of Big Tony's merch. If this is a cheating ring it's all very keystone cops. Case adjourned at this time.

Adelstein, who wrote a report dragging all sorts of people into this without clear evidence, wants us to stop dragging people into this without clear evidence or something.

https://twitter.com/GmanPoker/status/1579204873802825729?t=Z9k3v8C1dU48T4NX3rTlMQ&s=19 (https://twitter.com/GmanPoker/status/1579204873802825729?t=Z9k3v8C1dU48T4NX3rTlMQ&s=19)

I’m as heartbroken and jaded as anyone, but that doesn’t make it ok to destroy people’s reputations without clear evidence. Unfairly going through hell myself last week, I would know. This is true not only of DGAF, but various others on the HCL staff as well. Let’s be better.

Was moving on and letting the investigation play out, but this made me smile.

Agree, this would be an odd spot to choose to use yr cheating advantage - bit too gambly if you have a cheats edge

This saga has led to me watching a few streams of that game starting with a stream of that whole evening. Never thought I would watch stuff like this again but I have. She's kind of watchable, she has good bappage which is quite mesmerising and I always liked Tomb Raider.

My new fav passtime is watching streams when Garrett loses 250k or so, try and avoid the ones where he wins.

Those enormous lips(how much collagen) distract me from her not inconsiderable bappage - pronounced with a French accent of course.

Back to the poker and running the river twice:

If GA had connected with any of his multiple outs and the pot had been chopped, would there have been any comparable hue and cry afterwards?
