After the explosive start, things have quietened down, and things are tense and tight.
Raise, Pass.
El Blondie has donned shades and blondepoker cap.
This next bit is a quote, not from Mrs C either, he looks "well mean, well sexy"!!
Tikay, go and get a drink.

Greg "Junior" Hill is desperate to find a spot to move in with, he won't be ante'ed away, these Notts boys go down with all guns blazing!
He makes it 10k to go in the BB and takes the pot down.

Bill Shrevington in clash with El Blondie

El Blondie raises with AK, Bill obviously thinks there is a bit of stealing going on and re-raises all in with....err 86.
Flop brings an 8....and a KTA4.
Bill Shrevington is OUT.
A great display by him though.

Post by: jbsc7769 on February 27, 2005, 06:18:00 PM
I am not sure if I can say this on here but, I will anyway and deal with the consequences after, Greg Hill must have balls the size of coconuts.

Classic steal, re-steal, re re steal and he RRR'd on the end. Flop was three spades. He showed two red cards. Both rags.

You can tell this guy has spent time near Julian Thew!!

El Blondie button limp, Flop 246.
BB (Reardon) bets 8k, El Blondie Calls.
Turn 6
Reardon bets 8k, El Blondie RR'd with another 8.
Reardon passes.
El Blondie shows a boat!

Dave has his dancing shoes on!

Could be a set up for later me thinks.....

Drama!
Callinan moves all in with AT suited, El Blondie Calls with 88.
The boadr is kind enough to bring two more 8 for quad snowmen!
That is 309k for El Blondie. (That's right folks, three hundred and nine thousand.)
Callinan OUT

Turner sets Grech all in. he has VERY long dwell. He asks Danny, the cardroom manager, if he can enter tonights 100 if he loses!!
LOL, quality.
He calls!
He has 44, Turner has A8, the A drops and Joe, is no more!
Joe is OUT in 11th and takes home 1,500

We have reached the final table!

Interesting side point......

The hand before Micky exited, while Grech was o his dwell, Micky left his seat to ask the cardroom manager why they were not hand for hand. A good question. However, whilst he was away, to add insult to injury, the dealer took his cards.
That HAS to hurt

OK.
As you will be aware, there will now be a break for a while. The finalists will have a buffet, then the grand entrance for the TV cameras etc, also the intros.
I would think it will be in the region of 9:45 - 10:00 before we are off again.
Be assured, we will keep you right up to date with all of the happenings as, and when they happen. I guarentee, you wont find information more up to date anywhere other than the card room itself!

all these Nottingham players on TV, brilliant. first JT storms on now Greg will make an appearance. Did you say this was for the new poker channel coming in march which will replace Game In TV?

Talking of which, I caught a short poker documentary last night on that channel and aswell as interviews with Howard Lederer, Devil Fish, Mad Marty, the Mob and Harry Demitriou there was an excellent appearance by our very own Tikay explaining some strategic differences between Omaha and Hold'em. He came across very thoughtful, deliberate and, it has to be said spoke....very.....slowly....which I told my wife was very unlike him. Nice one Tony

As always, you will hear about it first on blondepoker very soon.

Nice going this is topl class for us mere mortals.
Was sat with DC at the start and he had a nice pot of me when he hit 4 queens against my full house.
Mind you i had a good time and got my chips back and was rolling along nicely till i decided to go all in with jacks on a 9 high flop and the other chap had kings. Thats poker as they say.
Any way I wish all the players the best as they would have had to play some good poker to get this far.
Keep up the good work with this coverage.

I'm sure anyone who visited Walsall this week noticed the presence of Blue Square. Their poker room was offering satellites for the main event in the weeks leading up to the festival. They'll also be doing them for future Grosvenor festivals so keep your eyes peeled for a cheap way in to the big money!

Trouble ahead for these boys now, Greg has started his "raise, raise, quick quick raise" trick.
I think some of them will adopt the feotal position and plead for mercy soon!
Could turn into "The Greg Hill Show"....not as funny as "The Benny Hill Show" but equally entertaining.

can't see why Greg would agree to chop at all. He has half the chips on the table and is quite capable of using them. I can see him having his sights on the full 70k

Blinds are  up to 8k / 16k

I guess it depends on the offer Adam.If he was offered 50k now he might view that as life changing and accept.

I suppose, I think he's probably far enough ahead at the moment he won't take it. bit of a wobble then maybe but he's pretty deep.
Know what you mean though 50k / 70k what ever, it's all a big chunk of change

If he took a hypothetical offer of 50,000, it would pay for WSOP entry / hotel etc and still a nice 35k in the back pocket

Turner 102k
Kkola 68k
Fox 272k
Greg 488k

Not sure they do Adam. I am sure on WPT they are not allowed to deal but dont quote me on the that. That said, what happens off screen......

know what you're saying but if I were sat where Greg is (if only) and I pulled 70k tonight I wouldn't be able to stop myself from thinking thats $120k + WSOP here we come. he's a noticably good player first time you face him and he's on a cracking run, why not take your shot. there's more than one event isn't there.

Not sure exactly how the money went in but, El Blondie and Stuart Fox get ALL of their chips in.

Stuart shows AJ
El Blondie Show 99

Very first card hits the Ace...then the board brings FOUR spades and El Blondie hit the flush....UNREAL HAND

Stuart Fox is OUT and wins 14,000.

We are now down to three players
They say yo uneed a little bit of luck to win a tourney and that could be the luck El Blondie needs to kick start his charge

1st   - 70,300
2nd  - 36,800
3rd   - 19,300

What a fairy tale, Young Greg "Junior" Hill taking on poker legend Dave "El Blondie" Colclough.
They are now playing for the following.

1st  - 70,300
2nd - 36,800

This really has been a thrilling event, well done Walsall.

The players are taking a short break before we find out who the winner of the main event will be.

whilst we had a few tech probelms, a text came through with an amazing statistic!
Of all of the runnres, only 4 had the blondepoker colours on. 3 of them made the final 4.
UNBELIEVABLE.
We will keep it a little secret who didnt make it, just between us eh Tikay?

Chip Count

Greg Hill 245,000
El Blondie 1,000,030 !!!

I am just looking at the small print of my contract, only 25% of DC's payout for all of my hard work??? Jeez.....

Junior has everything to gain and nothing to loose hear doesn't he?
36800 as a worst case scenario isn't aweful, he's up against a world class player so no lack of respect if he looses and if he wins it even more well deserved respect than already earned.
Nice job Greg

A few small exchanges then the first big pot.
A cleverly played 2 pair must have been a real boost for hand winner, Greg.

DC passes.

Greg up to 370k.

This boy has so much heat, he has been great no matter what the result.

Good discipline from DC

Absolutely right. They say playing Heads-up is easier when your the shorter stack as well. My money would still be on DC though with a 4 to 1 chip lead.

Greg bets 40k, DC moves all in, greg passes. He is only going to commit on his own terms.

You think back to when DC only had one hundred and something thousand chips and where he is now.

Class

greg is now up to about 500,000 chips

Adam, funny u should ask..........

Spoke to him today..
He gave it a listen and decided it was passonworthy (must be a technical music term)
So now it is being bandied about to the appropriate Sony geezers (apparently there might be A pop-punk specialist geezer)

And...............
Hell let me know if THEY like it....LOL
I know. Its a funny old game but hey the foot is at least in the door and the shoe is rattling around the right cages at the moment...

thanks a million Ron. If there's anyone's name you can get us so we can follow it up that's be a massive help. I could stop bugging you then.

think passonworthy is the technical opposite of binable.

I would just like to say a big thank you to all the people who have put so much effort into this site
and thank you for all the good luck wishes.

Greg Hill and Stuart Fox both played exceptionally. We will be hearing from both of them in the future for sure. In the end I got lucky against Greg. The  key hand was when I flopped a straight and he made top pair (I think)

There were no deals. I dont do deals now. I did do a deal that cost me a bracelet in 2000 when I didnt care.
The reason I dont do deals is not because I am greedy. It is because it alters the way people play. It takes the pressure off. I like to try and apply a little pressure as Michael Cain would say.

Thanks everyone.
And sorry to those peeps I outdrew (particulalry Mr.Lattiff)

Just had to read all the coverage to make sure it wasn't a dream! - thanks to everyone for your support and kind wishes, nice to have so many people funking for you! Tikay was a star during the event, giving me constant confidence boosters and pep talks. - he should get a job as a mr motivator (on second thoughts.... Tikay in a jump suit and bum bag!! - maybe not eh?!)

Simon - you are a legend, Blondie should send you a chunk of his prize for the phone and internet bill.

Blondie - pleasure to play with you, next time lets hope its a different result. I had a feeling whoever could get Mr maniac Singh's chips would be able to press home the advantage. - great game.

Good luck guys, see some of you gala boys in the near future

Junior
