Dubai and Dpommo are still back at the hilton in bed together. After consuming what looks like £4k's worth of cristal last night they are still slightly worse for wear. Still they seem to play better when nursing a hangover as it restricts the amount of hands they are willing to play!

Aside about update threads:

We have had some comments when live threads reach the astounding length that they're getting to nowadays that people who come in after it's all over and just want a quick rundown on the hands and chips and exits find it a lengthy process.   The blonde team is working on some ideas along the lines of creating a filter system for the quick-fixers, or running a cut'n'paste parallel thread with none of the fun interactive stuff (which I reckon makes the experience so enjoyable.)

This is not the time to trial this, however, as the lack of Wifi would mean a greater info lag for you, and some time wastage for us, but next time we've got good old high speed access we'll give it a go and see what you think.

Before the chips start flying, some detail provided by Sunday on his preliminary wander:

El Blondie is on the right of the Devilfish (who winked at me while I was walking up the stairs - Devilfish, not Dave)

Jac Arama is, in Ben's words, "looking cool with some huge red shades."  Opposite him is Poker425 star Joe Grech.

couple of notes for you from downstairs...

A very hungover/tired/hungry/thirsty DiscoDave Dubai is sat opposite a rather calm looking Surinder Sunar,

Nick Gibson, Simon Nowab and John Kabbaj are scattered all over table 8.

One player to look out for is Donnacha O Dea's son Eoghan, hes looking sharp and well prepared, while his Father is sitting polishing off a few from the top shelf in the bar. Eoghan tells me he isn't playing in this event.

One more chap i left out from earlier on the busy table of Dpommo, Foxy and Mr Greco is internet master Rory Mathews (Mafews). The guy made over £500k last year purely from playing online. And yes i am jealous! The 'kid' is only 20!!!

Everywhere i walk i can smell food and to be honest i can't wait for the break so i can chow down hard, im starving!

On the flop of  Ad 5s Ks they both looked rather intense - in fact after a couple of raises they were all in!

We didn't notice the quiet yet deadly figure of Surinder Sunar until just now - I am never sure whether he likes having his picture taken.  Ah, sure he does.

Just to clear up why Ben is Updating instead of Jen's usual partner-in-crime, sloppy.

Our super-dooper site re-launches on Monday, & poor slippy has a mountain of work to get through to get it sorted by then, so he'd decided to miss out on this occasion.

As we owed Ben (aka Sunday@8pm) an Update, as he tried to help in Deauvile, despite being really most unwell, & did his best to hang in there despite feeling like death. He's having  bit of a thin time right now, so this was an opportunity to thank him for Deauville, & get him in amongst the big-time poker atmo, which I know he misses so much.

blonde are very lucky in this respect. Flushy did a wow of a job in Monte Carlo - he will be back, assuming he wants to - and Maria (Chili) will soon join the Team, plus great Updates have been done by Tighty, Heid, Dingdell, Poppet, & Jonathan Rabb is always on hand as blonde's version of the fifth Beatle - we have much to thank Jonthan for, we really do.

I saw a hefty old pot developing (5,500) on a board that looked like this: 3s 9d 5s. 
The turn brought the Tc.  Bruce checked, Matey bet 3,500, and Bruce immediately put the other guy all-in for his remaining 7k or so.  After a very long dwell, he obviously decided that Bruce didn't have Ts Th (which he did) and called with his unlucky Kh Kd.  And lost.  Bruce up among the chip leaders.

 As it's a 4 day event , there is no reason not to have a 75-150 level. The structures have been pretty poor all week.

Well, I'd like to see a 75-150 Level, but we are hardly gonna convince their Mangement to review the situation with an alias such as "Ihatethevic", now are we?

For the sake of record, blonde are supportive of the Vic, & all Grosvenor Casinos, but that's not to say we cannot or will not make suggestions, but they will be constructive & polite.

I am sorry, but I wouldnt expect anything different form The Vic. They are renowned for this sort of thing, just look back to the thread when they had the last big tourney there.

200-400 after 3 hours! In Vienna, we were on 150-300 after 7 hours if I'm not mistaken. Took me an eternity to bust out.

That McDonald fellow has done quite well for himself, when I was a lad he only had a farm

As so often happens, a lot of chips are finding their way on to one table - there are now three stacks over 30k on Iwan's table (his not among them, though).  In fact, the whole thing does seem to have a pacy feel I am not used to after the good ol' EPT.  Not that it's all bad - from our point of view action is action and there's already been plenty of it.

Dave Shallow   12,500.  He's wearing those giant headphones which I am sure effectively blocked another guy's blonde joke - "Fire away," said Dubai and donned the 'phones as the joketeller got going.  Heheheh.  Not a bad joke though...

Mickey Wernick says his current 6,000 chips feels like quite a lot, after an initial drop right down to 3,000.  I saw him bet a river not too long ago and then pass to a big raise, leaving himself just 5k.  The board was 8d 9c Qs 4d Qh, and his opponent showed him 4h 4s when he passed.  It wasn't clear whether that was winning.  But I reckon it was.

I knew Robert HM was a trend-sweater  :D

Just been sent downstairs to check on RED-DOG only to find hes upstairs but managed to catch a glimpse of a fascinating hand involving Simon Nowab.

mateyboy1 limped utg and Simon raise 3 x bb to 1800 on the button with AA.

mateyboy2 in the sb decided to smooth call.

With Jh Jc, after raising a mid-position raiser all-in, and receiving a gracious call with 8c 8s.  The board brought no excitement other than a pair of Aces, making Tony's two pair look better.  So that's around 20k for Tony Bloom.

Elsewhere, El Blondie takes a pot off James Akenhead - on a 7c 5h 3c board, Dave put the young aggressive player all in, asking during the ensuing dwell, "Which one is it, a pair of nines or a pair of tens?"  Whatever it was, it wasn't good enough to call, and James got a reward(?) in the form of seeing the Jc in Dave's hand...

He can't say the words "Marc Goodwin" without "fish" following now...  After Marc raised 2,500, Skalie pushed all-in on the small blind for around 16,000 and without hesitation got called by Marc with  Aspades 8s.  Skalie's  Qh Qc couldn't beat the two Aces which showed up on the board, and he steamed gently out of the card room.

yes the flop was QQQ and a rivered 4 was no help. Thats my luck at the moment- could not win a coin flip with my own same sided coin.

And yes the devilfish is right- what a bad event. Ten handed tables and a structure that is diabolical. Where were the 75-150 and 150-300 levels? whats the point of two day start for the event if u structure it like that. Again players treated like total dogs. It is  a crapshoot- just three hours in and its 2000 to go and 5000 to reraise. Great skill!

He has 84,000 after a run of big wins culminating in hitting a set of Sixes when someone's AK hit an Ace on the flop.  The opponent said "all in" without realising quite how many chips Mr. Cool was sitting on (40k) and with that coup, after a floor ruling that there was nothing to be done, Marc is in buoyant form...

We had a similar thread then re structure, and correct me if I am wrong, but wasnt that one 45 min clock?!?!

I would think that The Vic must take norice (if it is indeed the Vic that have set the structure), but will they?? In a word.... No - Not until they have such a poor turnout - will that ever happen? Again I think No.

Take what Blue Square have done on Tribecca,,,, for ages people who play there have been screaming for a higher buyin f/o with a better structure. So Blue Square lay on a $3.5 guaranteed $100 f/o - which has yet to make the guarantee!! - Go figure

John Kabbaj took a BIG setback just before the last break. on a Tc 9d 4s  2d board. it went bet  raise re raise re raise all in from some mystery German geezer who has never heard of the great Thomas 'Buzzer' Bihl. John took 8 minutes before deciding that his hand wasn't good enough. I personally think John was on a re steal and didn't have anything, but then again im not sure the German geezer had anything either. They had been at loggerheads for hours and this pot was inevitable. The pot was around 70k and propels the German fella to the chip leader with 110k.

John however is not so well off and is down to 20k or so.

Barny Boatman is struggling on 10k and Blondie is well poised with a shade over 20k.

We noticed Dave Colclough running out of here just as the buzzer sounded, and we thought he was out, but he's just going to squeeze in the most sleep possible before heading to the Poker Open tomorrow at 8am!

Barney lost a 50k pot to Bambos who raised preflop.  Barney had 99.  Flop 10 6 2.  Bambos check-raised Barney's 6k another 20k and got the call.  Even though Bambos only had AQ, the J K came making runner-runner straight!  Ouch.  "I made the bet small enough so he'd raise me," said Barney.  Be careful what you wish for...

If you're still around, we are trying to get hold of the final counts... just to keep you enthralled for a few minutes, heeeeere's Woody!  With 75k after having "donked off 25k to Marc Goodwin..."

 I played last night,...and being fairly new to this "live" stuff, I must admit I really enjoyed it ....until getting knocked out by AA of course :D

I would agree about the blinds ....we started on a 45 min clock!(not even an hour as my table were expecting)....then moved to 1 hour blinds....but yes on reflection , they then went up too fast.

On asking how many we were playing down too, they said until 4am!........surely you're looking to take a certain number into Saturday??, with a view to another certain amount to take onto the final on Sunday ??

Played last night, the structure was an absolute farce...I just come back from the WPT in San Jose and it took a whole day to reach the blind leves we were at after three hours last night....and then they change the end of play time because they realsie they gonna have no players left, brilliant.

Anyway, have to pass on some tales of Mr Cool, who is such a nice guy he got himself blinded away in the omaha final when I rang to ask him to buy me into the main event last night (wish he wasn't such a nice guy now!).

Early on, Marc gets 66 on the sb. Button raises, Marc all in, bb thinks and thinks and eventually folds, passing 10 10, button calls with JJ....board 6(!) 10(!!) xxx, a lovely double up.

Bit later matey in early position raises, button all in , Marc all in on bb with QQ. Raiser has a dwell and passes, Marc flips over his QQ, button shows AA....and matey tells them he also had QQ! Aces boy tells Marc he's drawing dead, but Mr Cool cooly tells him, don't be too sure about that.

Board J28 10 9......lololol.

The hand with Skalie he told me because of the stupid chip colourings (the 100 chip is almost identical to the 5000) he thought Kal had 8k total, not 16 (he may be cool but his eyes weren't what they were), and I think after playing non stop in with the hi lo final then the omaha then the omaha final and the main event, plus the face his BPO heat is at 8am today (!!) he decided to gamble and the worst that happens was he gets his bed.

grrr why play it then paul. It's possible to switch grovesnor packages.

The vic has always had fast structures, why player who prefer slow clocks still play there is beyond me!

I actually quite like the structure though! Less time for the rocks to hide!
