Does it do it even when you've got no applications running? Narrow it down to one particular app? Or is it a mechanical noise rather than something coming out the speakers?

Kev, does Blonde take the risk on the casino games, or just rake the bets?

[ ] I've not just won my tournament entry back on the blackjack
[X] I'm potentially feeling slightly guilty about it
[ ] I've never chased my losses on blackjack to stupid levels
[ ] I can resist

All sorted. Thanks Kev! Registered and raring to win get knocked out first.

Will be my debut Blonde performance, so no doubt I'll embarrass myself by pulling some flukey one-outer binkage when I should have been nowhere near the hand in the first place.

I remember reading a thread on some American forum where loads of yanks were convinced this was a made up name. They just couldn't conceive that English wasn't actually the first language of some people in the world. Coming from a nation full of Randys, I found that quite amusing Smiley.

I'd like to play (SWMBO actually out on a Thursday evening. Yay!), but I downloaded the blonde client and registered a while ago, but have never actually got around to playing on it  and I've forgotten my username , which obviously isn't rex008. I tried registering, in case I hadn't done that last time, but my email exists. Is there a way of getting from email address to username?

I don't care that he's black.

But he's a lefty, ffs, a southpaw!

Weirdo. Don't trust 'em.

Yeah i think i am right in saying first successful ditching of an airliner??

that's what I thought but not a single news report that I  saw mentioned that

At long last, the guy who drew the little graphics of the plane floating on the water on the safety instruction cards can sleep safe in the knowledge he wasn't wasting his time.

I also found this:
Quote
Planes can float, but the US Airways Airbus A-320 that crashed into the Hudson River Thursday had a better chance than most.
That's because it was equipped with a special device unique to Airbus planes that increased the likelihood it would stay on top of the water.
The device, called a "ditching switch," effectively seals the plane by closing valves and ventilation ports, a spokesman for the airline said.

Wonder how much that costs on each plane? Given the rate of successful ditchings, I'm amazed they bother, although I'm sure the passengers on this particular aircraft are quite pleased they did Smiley.

1360  Community Forums / The Lounge / Re: Got kids??Family tax credits for 2002-2003 on: January 15, 2009, 01:52:48 PM
One condition they happily forget to mention is that if you pay higher rate (40%) tax, it reduces and you become ineligible very quickly (zero by around 10k over the higher rate starting IIRC).

It would be a blatant higher-rate-taxpayer-here brag post, but given that Comrade Brown has managed to double that category to 4m people since 1997, it's not much of brag Sad.

So yeah, take my hard earned wages why don't you  .

my ring fingers are a fair bit longer than my index fingers and I fancy blokes.

Hah, that's quite an interesting one. I wonder how many female poker players are ++testosterone? Wouldn't surprise me if it was fairly common. Traditional male activity and all that, without meaning to be sexist or anything Wink.
1362  Community Forums / The Lounge / Re: How good are you at poker? on: January 13, 2009, 11:17:21 PM
The ring/index finger ratio thing is really old news - been known it's related to pre-natal testosterone exposure for quite some time. Aggression in city traders related to testosterone, also not surprising.

It's also fairly well known that gay men are more likely to have longer index fingers than ring fingers compared to straight men.

Hah. How many blokes just checked Cheesy?

Control Panel
Network and Sharing Center

One of the options in the list at the bottom is "Passwork protected sharing". Turn it off (on both machines). Should do the trick.

Had a mare today. Too many yank-oriented questions Sad. And the year had started pretty well.
1365  Community Forums / The Lounge / Re: Getting a kitchen fitted on: January 02, 2009, 08:39:42 PM
Hate to be contrary here, but I've had 2 kitchens from B&Q (in 2 houses, rather than 2 in 1 house Smiley), and they've both been fine. Current house is pretty large kitchen - about 5k worth of units, + 4k of appliances (range oven and big american fridge/freezer bulk of that), and fitting was around 4k including laying about 20sqm of tile floor, IIRC.
