One recent discussion had more than 1,600 participants. No wonder it is often said that poker has done more than anything apart from pornography to develop the web.

so what web site do think they are talking about there then? unless they are reading robs diary Cheesy

I think there is a big error in this, yes Annie Duke has won a few million but when compared to the men I doubt she is anywhere near the same league.

Also clearly a gap in the market for DTD to start to running some poker classes...

Poker is getting younger, cleverer, duller and much, much richer

Today poker is the third most watched sport on cable television in the United States, after car racing and American football, trumping even NBA basketball.

And apparently they have on the radio now as well!

here's another view on how the trick was done:

Obviously there was no way to get her to "read" people. At the start there were some simple tricks employed to get her to think that she was reading people - the "sort into high and low" is a card trick; there were marked cards used when she picked out a card that she had "picked up" (the 5 of Diamonds), the shill just said the name of the card that she had picked out as if that was the card that he had been thinking of.

She was given some training in how to bet - a set of simple rules to follow. If she followed them it would all work.

During the game, the cards were rigged. On many hands she was given poor cards, and the pros fought it out amongst themselves. When they wanted to give her a win, they ensured that she would be in against somebody who would lose to her on the flop. If she followed the strategy she had been given, she was guaranteed to come second.

Obviously she couldn't win; that would have been ridiculous.

to shed more light on this:

According to the story/ urban myth a chap from up north now living in London (Putney?) asked the people he shares a house with if they wanted to go to Battersea Park and drop acid with him. They politely declined and when they returned to the house from the pub hours later their housemate who was wacked off his head told them that he had seen goblins in the park. They told him that he was hallucinating. He replied; "I knew you'd say that so I've brought one home with me to show you."
He took them upstairs and his cupboard doors had a tennis raquet stuck through them and were rattling as if there was something inside. They gingerly opened the doors and found that the goblin was in fact a ten year old child with down syndrome who he had abducted from Battersea Park. The non-goblin child was swiftly handed in to a police station.

does sark live in london?

It's almost as fun as playing with fire, except you can't get burnt!

Who was commentating on this? I only ask is that jesse may is one of kind but his co commentator seemed to mis call alot of situations.

Oh and the table? How on earth do they cope? The dealer is almost lying on the table to reach the chips sometimes!
12  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Starting a poker league on: January 24, 2006, 07:23:56 PM

eh yeah, the payout structure can vary sometimes, but usually it is:
£5 entry fee. Rebuys available for first hour, no top ups.
2nd always gets £5 (if there are more than 9 players then 3rd will get £5, and 2nd £10)
Deals are not usually made until it is heads up.
starting 500 in chips blinds start at 5/10 for 1st hour then to 10/20, 25/50, 50/100, increasing every half hour.

Does anyone do their own for home games?

Every week we play either a game ranging from 6 players to 11. (I have a list of about 20 people but we only ever have one table) There is always small talk of who has won the most, who's the best player etc, but no one can ever prove it! So i would like to create a league to find out.
I was thinking this format:
points    placement
3               1st
2               2nd
1               3rd

I like the idea of awarding bonus points for those who turn up and i'd also like to include who is in the lead in terms of prize money.
Any ideas?

Ty in advice for the help

Arsenal my pick for this week, so i will back your advice and let's hope it comes good eh.

Others that I may do are Sunderland home win and Newcastle to win. I will stay away from the manu game can see one team losing their bottle.
norwich to beat watford could take my fancy as well.

man u v burton (home win)
betis v real madrid (away win)
AC milan v Ascoli (home)
Everton v Millwall (home)

Treviso v Inter (away) - this one is my favourite for tonight.

Reading let me down last night which was a shame, as I forgot to back Colchester, flaming typical eh!
