Don't bother walking further North than Encore.  By day, there's nothing there worth going to anyway.  By night, you won't feel too safe either.  Downtown, don't venture away from Fremont St Canopy.

The main poker action is going to be Venetian/Pallazzo/Bellagio/Caesars/Rio/MGM/Aria/Wynn.  Downtown is Nugget/Binions.  Once you have gone through that lot, you will have a better idea of what's what and searching out places you like/don't like should be all part of the fun for your first trip.

There are iphone apps, websites, magazines, threads on Blonde etc that cover the cheap shove-fest tournaments at random casinos also.

thanks for the tip on going further north than encore

The hotel that he won in his prize was the Pallazzo so thats pretty handy thanks

I know there is probably 100's threads on vegas but I would just like a bit advice on places to avoid and places worth playing poker. I know WSOP is on but those events our not covered by our bankroll!!

Plus just open shove big pairs and hope they hold up

yes. if C or bb raise that would reopen the betting so A would have all options again

Great stuff, thats How I understood the rule in this case so just wanted make sure I was correct.

A can't raise. the rule you want from robert's rules is

Quote
An under-raise happens when a player goes all in and in doing so has raised the bet but not by the full
amount necessary. When this happens the betting becomes ‘locked’. Any players that have already
acted in the hand (called, checked, bet etc) may not re-raise. Any players that have not yet acted may
raise as normal if they wish

Just to get this 100% right, player a could only call as player c only called and the bb folded? if player c or bb raised could player a now re-raise?

Min raise would be 2k

ha ha, the bb did fold for 650, he is the tighest player known to man!!!

I wasnt in the hand myself but I came back from the toilet to a heated discussion as player a was told he could only call. is this correct?
10  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: under-raise on: February 13, 2012, 03:45:05 PM
It was a tourney

Player a calls the bb (1k) next player b goes all in for 1650 player c then calls the all in the player in the bb folds and player a tries to raise rather than call.

Is it correct player a can only call?
11  Poker Forums / The Rail / under-raise on: February 13, 2012, 03:28:40 PM
I am trying to clear up something that happened in our poker league on thursday, and I wondered if anyone had the correct and exactly ruling for a under-raise so I can print it off and take with me this week.

I have searched the net and cant find it explained very clearly

Many thanks

Just to be clear, I wasnt knocking the Sky Poker tour, I was just curious  if it was possible to just turn up on the day and buy in.

I thinkit is great idea about thw wnnings to be paid in to the Sky Poker accounts, like you say a good way to attract new players

No, I know, & I certainly did not intend to convey that in my reply - I was just trying to explain the system, & why it is so. Turning up on the day & buying in is rarely going to work at an SPT, I'm afraid.

I was verbally - nearly physically - accosted by an individual @ DTD on Saturday, who was giving me a right ear-bashing about why winnings were paid into Sky Poker Accounts. He refused to accept this logic, & so I said "well you'd best swerve it then mate, as you won't get paid". He replied "Don't worry mate, I wont, all Online poker sites are rigged, so I'll never sign up to one".

Next time I notice him, he is close to the money on Day 2, he must have got in as an Alternate. I give him the payment speech again, & he says "oh yeah, I signed up last night".

, some people should really think before they speak!! Did the person in question cash??

I do have a sky poker account but havent used it for a very long time as I only previsouly played poker for fun, but I have been really trying to improve my game and learning more about poker lately. Been playing lots of home games and pub poker leagues, but want to start playing in some bigger poker tours and and get back playing online.

so i am targetting the brighton leg as my first BIG live event
