Ref todays game, I see Russia are evens to kick off today, with Saudi about 1.8 to kick off, why is there such a discrepancy? Assume Russia would have a particular preference of an end in which to play to?

United have struggled to win games with their first choice team out (7 wins in 18 this season) and have arguably been going off too short all season. This is primarily Nicky Butt's youth team plus Pogba, Bailly and Rooney - names are up on Utd's website. Their youth team isn't even especially strong compared to the likes of Everton, Chelsea and City. Seems like we are taking a price based solely on the shirt rather than the players in it. Doesn't feel like it's value to me.

Seriously, where has anyone said back them because they are Man U?

They are the outsiders at home.   Palace could be on the beach, I'd say more likely.  You can can the first few games this season, then maybe can a few where they have been unlucky.   They have been all over teams on the stats, and even though they have been a bit shit this season, they have 30 points more than Palace, and are in the Europa Cup final.

It is near 2/1, not 1/2 and Man U are at home.  Sure they could lose, but we only need them to win 1 in 3.

My point is how many games would you expect a group of 18 year olds against a battle tested lower half premier league team? I doubt they'd win 1 in 5 let alone 1 in 3, even taking into account the half goal home advantage.

Will take 4/1.  How much would you lay

Doobs, you appear to be morphing into Arbs - always had you down as a brash, loud, knowitall

Lol. Why would I lay 4/1 when I could just lay the two spades on betfair if I fancied?! Anyway, the fact is that in my opinion, the 2/1 is probably not very wrong given the relative strength of the team being put out. You mention the points points differential between the two teams but those are points accumulated by a completely different, higher class, more experienced set of players. As such, I don't feel it is value. If you or others disagree and feel like it is because it's a Man Utd team at home at 2/1 in the PL then fair enough.

Edit - I accept that Palace also have nothing to play for which may well add more randomness into the equation. Ultimately it just feels like a no bet game to me.

Oddly palace did beat Chelsea and Arsenal recently and kept Tottenham out till late, granted they recently got beat convincingly by Man City. I cant see how Man Utd is a good bet, given the squad which they wil have for this afternoon, Rangers played a few kids and Aberdeen beat them at Ibrox for first time in like 25 years, the same poor Palace record can end today, assuming that Palace have right mid set today.

Germany got the worst of the draw as in the locations of the group fixtures.

Think Germany are a bet for 2018 with WH at 10-1 personally, a long way off I know, but Germany at 13/2 isnt for me, not this tournament.

Does anyone else have any opinion on who will will the actual trophy itself? Theres lots of ideas about who is going to be top goal scorer etc but is there no opinions about who is going to win it, bar the mention for Belgiuim, which I would say aint worth following at its current price which looks too short at 16-1, but they were worth a bet quite some time ago at 100-1.

Basically, in my opinion, the World cup is typically won by 4 teams, Brazil, Germany, Italy and Argentina. There are exceptions to this, typically when some teams win it when they are the host nation, Uruguay 1930s, England 1966 and France 1998. the only other exception to this would be Spain, when the tournament was held in South Africa in 2010. Brazil are the hosts which rules out an oddity happening, will be interesting to see what happens in Qatar.

Obviously there the geographical factor, which can or cannot be discounted depending on your view. in South America the tournament has always been won by a South American team which would leave you with two from the mentioned above four, Brazil or Argentina. The sample size is small granted, but i would suggest it is certainly more beneficial for those teams such as Brazil or Argentina rather than a hinderance. The players are more likely to feel at home, than say italy Spain or Germany for that matter.

With Spain and Germany in horrific groups, and Italy not being the force they normally are, it would leave us with the top two in the betting which is no great surprise.

It is very rare for the Worlds best player, who plays for the big four, so to speak, to not win the World cup. i would suggest that Lionel Messi, as he is peaking at 26 I believe has an amazing chance to lead his country to victory in six weeks time. the only exception to this is Zico who never won it, but that is subject to personal opinion.

People can talk about Cristian Ronaldo being currently worlds best, but I couldnt even name one other team member, and they wouldnt even be a bet for the Euros, never mind a World cup

Quite whether a young Neymar will be able to cope with the pressure placed on his shoulders like Ronaldo in 1998 when he had a fit, remains to be seen, and I imagine, a World Cup win is too soon for the young man.

Also with the various problems Brazil are facing economically and socially, that cannot benefit the teams morale, with so many protests going on, it surely is a burden that they could do without.

Argentina, whos balance appears much better than 4 years ago, having breezed through qualification, with toxic Tevez effectively removed from the squad after the Man City substitute debacle, so the team revolves around Messi alone, are surely the bet at a best priced 9-2. the group win is surely a cert and a final against Brazil is a good probability

Di maria is very impressive, and with Higuian, and Aguero up front, with Messi pulling strings in midfield, they have without question the best attacking line up, instantly putting others on the back foot. They have beaten Germany Italy and Sweden away in friendlies over the last couple of years too.

The current manager, unlike Maradona, is a much quieter man, and less of a hinderance shall we say.

In short I feel it is Argentinas year, and the 9/2 is a good bet, having come in from 6-1 that was available 3 years ago when i first started backing them.

Watch this, and say to me he isnt destined to win one World Cup. This is his best chance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJdlMBrX1-8

Thoughts welcome.

Tikay,

I recommend a bet on:

Napoli to win Serie A at 8-1 with same stake saver at 11/10 for top 3 finish. This is available with Coral and BET 365.

Price as low as 9/2 in some places and this 8-1 looks sure to contract now they have signed Higuian as a replacement for Cavani up front. With an ambitious owner, who reinvests wisely, an amazing home support and record to boot, they represent what I believe to be value against an aging Juventus side. With money to spend there is great value at 8-1 for a team that came second last year.

Regards

Spudy.

Thank you Mr Spudy.

Very short of time, excuse brevity.

We have £10 EW @ 8/1, Coral, Napoli to win Serie A.

Full details tomorrow.

ON

As my last post on here following the insults of The Camel towards me, you may want to check that you did this bet correctly. As you did the Napoli Serie A bet with Coral, you may have only got first and second place for the e/w part. This will not apply had you backed 11/10 for the top three finish that was available like i said, though looking at your post you said you were pressed for time.

Hopefully Napoli will push on and finish second so there wont be an issue ahead of Roma.

All the best.

Could easily have snatched draw in last minute, sigh Sad

Cardiff v West Ham

Following the toothless display against Man City, surely 22/23 for Cardiff under new manager Solskjaer, is a rather big price? Combined with the forum bet on the Hammers manager to go in January, this could be the result that gets big Sam the boot?

Thoughts?

They just cut it 7/2, 9/2 now with spreadex

Maybe a bit late to put this up,

But I think that Roma to draw against Sampdoria is a bit big at a standout 9/2 with Betvic. Sampdoria have been unbeaten quite a few games, before losing to Napoli the other day, but they were a tad unlucky hitting the woodwork a few times and could have easily got something from the game.

Roma have lost to Juve quite badly having started well early on and this may well dent confidence. This is the Coppa Italia not a Serie A fixture.

Recommend small stakes on draw say 5 or 10 quid at 9/2 with Betvic. Kick off 1700.

Regards.

Not particularly keen on the bet in the NI game this evening I think the price is about right at 4/ 9 and that the 1/3 is just too short.

I actually don't think Dungannon are 7/1 shots. That said I don't think they will win.  If I had a free fiver to throw at the game there are not many better bets than Darren Boyce FGS but can't find a price . . .

Have to agree that this does not strike me as particularly good "value" in truth. For Spudy's sake, I hope they win though.

Im on anyway, good luck!
