Just caught up on the May updates.  Happy retirement Tikay, and I hope you continue to have a blast in Vegas.

Scarily, I now qualify for senior tournaments, which shows how long we've all been hanging around on this forum over the years.

Looking forward to reading the updates.  Good luck to the blondes still standing in the latest tournament.

Gene Hackman found dead at home with his wife and dog, according to reports.

A brilliant actor.  I remember him best for being Lex Luthor in the original Superman films and the Sheriff alongside Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven.

95yo is a good innings, but the circumstances of his death seem odd at this stage.  RIP

Thanks for all your hard work in running these leagues.

I'm tempted to try to continue them, but you're a hard act to follow.  However, I'd miss them not being available.

Will see if anyone else fancies taking on the challenge, but might look to try to continue them if not.

Steve Albini, producer of too many iconic albums to mention.

"Seamonsters" by The Wedding Present is the first one that springs to mind, but most would probably know him from his work with Nirvana.

Just seen someone describe this as "Princess Diana for 6 Music Dads."

I played in a 20/40 LHE game in vegas in 1999 and he was at the table.
Did they play it as a kill game?

Just seen the news that Bobby Charlton has died, aged 86.

Sad news, and a genuine England football legend.  RIP

Tony Holden, author of the epic poker book "Big Deal", has passed away according to this tweet.

That book was my gateway drug into wanting to play poker.

RIP Tony.

Michael Gambon, aged 82.  Brilliant actor.  Most will know him for his roles as Dumbledore in the later Harry Potter films.  I first recall seeing him in The Singing Detective playing a man with a terminal skin condition.

RIP

Payment just sent for 3 and 4.

If there's interest, I might look to set up a cups competition and LMS, on a similar basis that you've run them previously.  No immediate rush to have these in place by the start of the season, so it's something I'll re-visit once the early admin stuff is out of the way.

Thanks for running the main leagues again.

No LMS this season?

Blatant "I have a cleaner" brag, IMO.

Sad news about Doyle Brunson.

His life story was remarkable, including surviving cancer as a young man, and his position as a legend of the poker world was beyond dispute.  I still remember the slight thrill of seeing him on his buggy in Vegas a few years ago.

3rd time definitely not the charm!

In fairness, it was a miracle to get to a tie, given the gap going into Sunday.  I was the only one not to play Saka and I had Johnstone on the bench.

Needed something spectacular from Isak and Bowen, and Newcastle and Wesh Ham's performances did at least give me a sweat.

Thanks for running and good luck to those still standing.

When I first started playing poker in around 2004, he was Mr Consistency in terms of his tournament record.  Always there or thereabouts in the Grosvenor festival results around the country.

I was part of a 6 way chop at one of the Luton Festival events around that time, which included Micky, Carlo Citrone and a certain Rob Yong in the group of 6.  He was a tough opponent, but also pleasant company at the table.

RIP Micky Wernick.
