Thistlecrack is back in to 11/1 on the machine for the Gold Cup.  Colin Tizzard has confirmed he is getting scanned again, presumably because they aren't convinced the injury is as serious as they thought it was.

Good luck 999/1 layers.

Is Tizzard pulling a Hendo(remember Binocular?!)?

Surely not!

I remember Binocular.  Wasn't there another one that came back from 999/1 too.

This kind of thing is just awful for ante post backers/layers.  The price moves a big lump and then you get the announcement.  Meanwhile some poor sods have been conned again.

I hope it comes to nothing.

kicking king did it also

anyone had a look at the 16 runner 4 places handicap hurdle at newbury later?

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing/newbury/15:35/winner

point me in the right direction please...

tough race as you'd expect but i'm keen on wait for me @ 12/1 (14s with if you can get it).

his 3 wins have all been on soft ground and he's won over course and distance. 4th in the county hurdle last season when sat a bit further back than ideal isn't far off the best piece of form in this field and he's 1lb lower today. that was with the first time hood on which he has back on today for the first time this season. disappointed when fav for the swinton hurdle end of last season, but his two runs this season have not been without promise with this in mind.

a negative is he can tend to race a bit keen so we'd hope for a decent pace, and hopefully the hood will help.

not sure on a staking plan, only dip in and out of this thread every so often and it's my first suggestion. should be attacking this race fairly hard though.

Hi Chris

a first suggestion?

why not then...keep them coming/visit more often....

Wait For Me Newbury 15:35 Winner
12/1 Each Way (4 Places at 1/4 Odds)
Total Stake: £40.00
Potential Returns: £340.00

went off 8/1, travelled well to a point but didn't jump well and went out like a light :/

I think Cue Card could be on way out, very difficult in general to perform at top level after operations, and just hasnt looked old self last few runs.

penultimate run (haydock) been rated as joint career best so that's not strictly true. i don't think he's quite as good on faster ground which it clearly was on boxing day but yes he is now an 11yr old

No Douvan in today's final decs.

been watching this market all week with a vested interest, find the whole douvan thing farcical and unsavoury. i think this article is a good summary http://www.racinguk.com/news/article/47490/bookmakers-in-the-firing-line-after-douvan-is-not-declared-for-tingle-creek

it doesn't reflect well on the sport at all, and although turning up on the day is obviously a major risk with ante post betting, why is it only after 48hr decs are made mullins can say "It was an easy enough decision to make, it was probably Un De Sceaux all the time...". i appreciate his job is to his owners and not punters but really what is the point in him (or ruby either) being paid for his racingpost blog at this point?

i did see that betfred are refunding all ante post bets on douvan so well done them.

Newmarket fast ground means we should be looking for prominent racers in all races and this one is full of hold-up rofflers.

thoughts on kool kompany in the 4.40 using this logic? craven winner made all over course and distance on good to firm last year. disappointed when sent to australia but his comeback run wasn't terrible at a time when the yard were struggling for winners. estidkhaar from the same yard can also race prominently but we are 5lb better off with him from last time and he's yet to fully prove he stays this mile. the fav does look a potential improver (big horse) but kool is 7lb better off with him for the one time they met last year. i think 22/1 looks pretty generous e/w

not sure i agree tbh. if i post something on my facebook then who are you to tell me i cant? if something is priced too high then market forces will come in naturally. i have no idea who any of the people involved are in this example.
