Love being in a minority that celebrates seeing young people outdoors enjoying themselves. Cant believe whats happened to people. This doesnt make me a covid denier,  anti vaxxer,  or murderer. Just makes me completely normal and the rest of the country need to be more like me tbf.

The council removed 7 tonnes of waste this morning.

Litter covered the whole of the grass which is a very large area.

The war memorial to the American airmen was vandalised.

Arrests made for fights.

Fire brigade called to put fires out.

Call me an old fart but it was bang out of order.

Well lockdown in Sheffield is over.

Just walked past my local park, which had thousands (seriously, easily a couple of thousand) of young people in big groups partying.

Looked like a football crowd, a sea of heads. Just amazing.

Four police cars parked up watching and not a clue what to do.

Just crazy stuff.

This AZ vaccine stuff in France is getting weird.

First it was it’s not safe for over 65’s

Then it was we’ll suspend it for everyone

Now it’s not safe for under 55’s.

They seem to be making this shit up as they go along.

Meanwhile their people are losing their lives and health system struggling to cope.

Just nuts.

Jordan Rhodes in last 3-4 years at Sheffield Wednesday.

£9m fee and £35k a week.

Looks like he’s got a sack of spuds on his back.

Plus his refusal to take a penalty in a play off semi final shoot out against Huddersfield. Made my blood boil.

He’s took penalties all his career successful but bottled it. You buy star players for moments like that and expect them to step up to the plate.

Fair comment that Mr Q.

Cheers Tom, I’m still trying explain to my 11 year old daughter why Ollie McBurnie is about 6 foot 4 stood tall and about 6 foot 2 when he jumps to head the ball. 18 mill there, 23 for Brewster. 10 for Mousset who I’m told has IBS and don’t think has ever played a full 90 minutes in the two seasons he’s been with us. Ollie Burke is a sprinter in football boots we swapped Callum Robinson for who we paid 8 million for. Tho I think we got 2 million back.

When you’ve spent that much money and the 2 best strikers we have are the two that got us out of the Championship 2 years ago, Mcgoldrick and Sharp then you’ve done something very wrong with 60 million quid haven’t you.

That seems to sum it up nicely.

Wilder worked wonders with the likes of O’Connell, Fleck, Basham, Stevens, McGoldrick etc getting performances in a system that was very successful.

His big money signings have been awful other than Berge who before injury was looking like a class act.

I can see United selling Berge and either Egan or O’Connell for decent money which with parachute payments should comfortably balance the books for 2-3 years.

Hard to see another manager getting the same tune out of the current squad.

As a Wednesday fan, I hope it’s 2-3 year treading water in Championship until the money dries up from EPL. Hopefully more of a Stoke than a Norwich :-)

Europe already got the vaccine rollout badly wrong.

Now they make it even worse.

Is a politically motivated thing ?

UK should ask AZ to send unwanted vaccine orders here and let’s crack on more quickly.

I’m 54 with no health issues and got a text from my GP surgery offering me the vaccine today. Booked in next Wednesday.

I was shocked and felt a bit guilty as I got the message after going to a funeral mass for an old family friend who had underlying conditions but died with Covid. Was sat in the Crem car park after driving from the Church when it came through.

Maybe my area in Sheffield is well ahead of schedule as I expected it in April.

Very strange.

I meant to add I did look for vaccination data, but I don't think daily numbers are published yet.  I assume they have these internally, as there have been more up to date numbers announced away from the Government update site.

I think daily and other vaccinations numbers are published on here.

FAO Camel, Rick & others who may be interested.

Kush has had more health problems, & is currently in Harefield Hospital where he expects he may have to remain for an extended period. He's bearing up well though & is bright & cheerful, & told me he hopes to be back on the blonde streets again very soon.

He sent me a PM on blonde, so if you want to wish him well personally you could try sending him a PM, or relay the message via me.

Oh damn, thought he was well on the mend.

Hope he makes it out for Xmas, their dinner portions are not good for that!

Can thank him for getting you posting again, at least Wink

Hi guys,

I am out of hospital sooner than had been expected (today at short notice, they let me home with monitors attached), I was only in for 5 days and things went well. I’ll be back in next week but things are back to looking up again for now. It seems the immunotherapy has messed with my adrenal glands but hasn’t doesn’t significant or lasting damage to my heart. The issues should be able to be sorted with drugs and from February when the immunotherapy ends I should be back in good shape for a while.

Thanks for the kind messages👍

Good to see you post. Glad you are recovering.

Fingers crossed you’ll be fighting fit soon.

Not sure about Kush. Hope he’s ok. Woodsey is banned from blonde now.

That’s a shame Woodsey has been banned.  I thought he was a good bloke
Hope gets a reprieve

Agreed.

I wish both Woodsey and Kush were posting.

Polar opposites in many ways but that’s what makes the world interesting.

Duller place without them.

I read all the Bond Books when I was a kid, and in the movies Sean Connery was 'My' Bond.

Somewhere in my teens, I underwent a startling metamorphosis and became Attercliffe’s answer to James Bond. The Bri Nylon of my work shirt became Sea Island cotton, and the shilling mix from the local chippy was now lobster thermadore. I tended to narrow my eyes a lot during that period, and I often allowed the suspicion of a cruel smile to briefly wrinkle the small white scar on my tanned cheek.
Mentally transforming my battered ex gas board Transit van into an Aston Martin was a bit of a stretch, even for my hyperactive imagination, but the sight of my unstable passenger seat tipping my even more unstable girlfriend into the rear of the van every time I attempted to wheel spin away from the traffic lights did much to reinforce the impression of an ejector mechanism.

RIP Mr Bond.

Your post about Attercliffe made me think of going to Attercliffe Baths every Saturday morning at 6.30am in the mid Seventies.

Big day tomorrow.  The EHRC report into institutional antisemitism within Corbyn's Labour Party gets published at long last.

It will undoubtedly represent a low point for the party.  Starmer has a massive job restoring credibility and trust, but has done well in the early stages (regular bouts of uproar and outrage from the Corbynites has been a fairly reliable indicator of this).  They've also spent the week getting their pre-emptive denials in place (e.g. Karie Murphy in the Guardian, Chris Williamson grifting for additional funds for his legal campaign).

Looking forward to further whataboutery from the likes of Owen Jones, Bastani, Sarkar, etc when the details get published.  Starmer is due to make a press conference at 11am.  I see little prospect that the report content will be anything other than scathing with regard to the conduct of those at the heart of the situation.  Assuming so, then he needs to commence the processes to disassociate them from the party going forward (e.g. removal of whip for MPs, disciplinary processes to expel for others, etc).

Quite the morning so far.  The report appears to be more damning than many expected, Corbyn issued a statement pretty much denying it's content and has now been suspended and had the Labour whip removed.

Starmer wasting little time, to his credit.

Fair play to Starmer. He’s going to appeal to a lot of moderate, sane people.

The nut job cult that worships Corbyn is in meltdown on Twitter.

The problem is you need to appeal to both wings of the party.  The immediate suspension looks like a bad strategy in response to some comments that were unlikely to lose a single Labour supporter.  Corbyn may have mad some comments in the past that could be viewed as low grade anti-semitism, but whatever they were, they are nothing on Johnson's history of racist comments, and he is the person who they need to be attacking...  And they so obviously need to start retrieving the Conservative response to islamaphobia from the long grass where Johnson kicked it.

Corbyn should have clearly just STFU this morning, as the issue is clealy devisive and the argument is done.  Just say you accept the findings and move on.  It doesn't really matter if you believe the allegations of anti-semtism were exagerrated, or saying you don't agree with all parts of a report, there is no benefit from saying so now; and saying so clearly has its downsides as Corbyn has discovered.  How long has he been in politics again?  The thing is that Corbyn had escaped fairly undamaged from what I have read, so why issue his (preprepared?) statement at all?

I'd add that the gloating by the right wing of the party is equally unhelpful; people on both sides opening old wounds daily are all as bad as each other.  Centrists believe this (insert straw man); Corbynstas believe that (insert straw man).  It all just such clear nonsense, but just gives a terrible impression of the party to outsiders

It’s an almost impossible job I think.

Labour need to appeal to moderate voters. They aren’t going to do that whilst trying to keep the Momentum crowd happy.

And I think Starmer still has the problem that party membership was boosted by a lot of the very left wing Corbynites (sheriff will know a lot more about membership make up than me).  And of course he has to keep the Unions on board too.

Ultimately without the more sensible, moderate voter he isn’t going to get elected into power.

Seems like a rock and a hard place to me.
