1  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Negreanu lists 40 players he's willing to cross-book vs. Hellmuth on: September 22, 2017, 11:39:02 PM
Why not just put actual names, very few people have a clue who you’re talking about

I think Negreanu has finally realised that he’s fallen behind these days, respect to him. Phil Helmuth will never realise it but he’s good enough in the wsop type fields + sponsorship etc that it doesn’t really matter

He's telling you porkies. It was hand for hand from 53 left, and the guy that came 51st (figlarz) blinded down to an ante or something and busted normally in hand for hand play (and was the only all-in).
3  Community Forums / The Lounge / Re: Laser Eye Surgery on: May 26, 2017, 10:03:38 AM
I had it done in 2006, think it cost around £2500 at a local optical express. There was around half a day of discomfort which I slept off but that night my vision was perfect and I could watch a game of football on the tele without glasses/contacts for the first time. My eyes were a little dry for a week but you get eye drops for that. Eyesight is still great , and no problems with reading yet although I'm sure I will in the future as all people do as they age (I was only 22 when I had the op). Would say it's probably the best value thing I've ever bought!

4 or 5 of my friends have also had laser eye , all had similar experiences to me and are very happy with it.

dan, did you find out about whether there are spaces on the flight? I've been trying to find out but not getting a reply , frustrating as I need to know quite urgently!

Long time reader, lurker, and benefactor I thought I'd put up some thoughts on the Men's US open Tennis:

My first recommend would be Marin Cilic at 50/1.  I feel this price is too big and out of line with some of the others in the market, i.e. Nadal at 20's (although that is probably just smart pricing my the bookmakers, an average punter would bet on him at any big price) and Nishikori being around half the price.  Felt he was very, very impressive at wimbledon and unfortunate not to beat federer in straight sets. I don't feel he bottled it as such, Federer just played ridiculously well on some key points and it was just one of those things.  His form at US open is great, having won it two years ago and semi-final last year (hammered in straight sets to Djoko but was carrying an injury).

Would recommend £20 E/W at 50/1 (Billy Hills)

Would also recommend Andy Murray and Djokovic E/W at their top prices (7/2 and evens), for obvious reasons.  This could wait till nearer the time, I find with Murray especially you can really tell if he's on his game or not on the particular surface in the tournament preceding the slam, and somebody is bound to be laying 7/2 before it.  Not heard anything else about Djokovic's mystery 'injury' at wimbledon but can see how he gets on in his next hard court tournament first!

Money back for 3rd gets my vote, probably best I can hope for after my start!

I like the play of using the all out attack chip week 1, it's pretty unlikely it will be of any use to me as I always end up with a base price midfielder after an early wildcard.  However it's still early but I could see there being lots of value in the 7-8.5 million range in midfield this year and not so much in the 9 mill + strikers (aguero aside) so it could be possible to have a strong attacking squad.

Great achievement, you should be really proud of yourself, we can all understand how you feel with the 80/20 (not the exact situation obviously). Now thats its been a few days has it fully sunk in with what you have achieved? If someone said to you give us back the money but you can be in the November 9 winner takes all what would you do? Hope im not coming across as a dick asking that question  but it just really interests me on how important situations like this can be for people, i would imagine Negraneu would answer that question yes, but how does one of the lads off Blonde answer it? I hope the money brings lots of happiness to you and your family, some great memories and stories to tell for years to come. Well done.

Thanks , its not really sunk in yet, bit of a sobering return to Scotland with the gales and the rain but it's good to get back to normality!  As regards to giving back the money to go back in November definitely not, it would have been great to make it but its all about the $ at the end of the day.  That final dinner break was the only time I actually considered or thought I would make the final table!  Myself and RobS had a strategy all mapped out for the following 2 levels which was going to make it very difficult to get knocked out, think he was a little shocked when he came back from watching the all in at the other table and saw all my chips in the middle with QQ v T8!

Engy I definitely remember playing Raistlin, we used to battle with Moorman at the cash tables back in the day right? Still the best poker software i've played on Cheesy

Haha MintTrav it was funny reading about that Newcastle cash in every report in the last few days, it wasn't me but I think it worked in my favour all the way through the tournament up until perhaps the final hand!

I had a few different ones, Kautostar, PBear, Willywonky. Well chief was my name back in the Tribeca days!  Always been more of a cash game player though.

Thanks for all the support guys , not too disappointed as should have been out a few times but once you get there playing a 25 million pot as 80% favourite, pretty gutting!  Feel a little more bad for all my mates back home who'd lined up a Vegas trip in November.

Thought it would be good to ask in here, does anyone have any experience with cashing a big foreign cheque? Don't know the best way to go about it, obviously want to minimise the exchange costs. Cheers!

12  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: I ONLY FLY FIRST CLASS on: April 24, 2015, 09:04:59 AM
Actually that's not true. It's not even slightly true.

But I did just book my first ever First class flight on a 3-flight journey that includes a 15 hour flight and spans 24 hours each way. For a return it was only 40% more than the price an Economy return would have been.

A friend of mine has been running a company for around a year or so now and several people I know have used his services on multiple occasions and everyone that does is very happy with it.

If anyone wants a quote on how much a business or first class flight (one way or return etc) would be let me know via pm or in the thread. We can get between 40 and 70% discounts on the standard price of tickets.

(Thanks to Teeks for letting me post this)

Hi there,

Looking for two single flights from kuala lumpa or singapore back to the UK (preferably Glasgow) in mid-April next year (say 13th-18th) . Could you see what your mate could do for those dates?

Thanks

George

I'm crap with the maths on this sort of stuff, but Betfair SB have 3-1 on McCoy to ride a winner today.

Hargam 13-2
Ned B 9-2
Carlingford 11-1
Princely Conn 10-1
Fletchers Flyer 20-1

If someone could run the numbers, but that seems ok to me? Wont recommend until someone confirms if its good or not!

Anyone from Team Maths around, to run these numbers? Doobs is busy actuaryating, & Argue seems to be on a sabbbatical.

Wish I knew the formula but these odds come to : 25740/1980 , 25740/2860, 25740/2340, 25740/2574, 25740/1287

Which when added together make :  25740/11041 = 2.33  , which makes it a great bet I think!

Feel free to correct the high school maths workings :p
