I don't read all the betting threads but every tip you seem to make on stoke is of this nature. For years it seems! I remember last year "put the house on laying Stoke to get relegated"

This one didn't fall into the "clear and obvious" category, since it wasn't a decision he made and then reversed - he just didn't see it.

Then he gets told in his ear, take a look at this handball. He takes a look, yup I missed that, I think its deliberate therefore pen. It doesn't have to be clear or obvious for him to give it in this case. That's how I understand the rule anyway.

Whether that was the right decision is a different matter. He does move his hand and leg towards the ball and in an unnatural position, but it was so quick it's really hard to be sure it was deliberate.

Personally, as a number one fan, die hard gooner, so long as the manager isn't Mourinho, Allardyce, Rogers or Pardew  i couldn't give a monkey's who the manager is. I know this is a gambling forum so naturally people gonna speculate on prices... but it amazes me how people think that worldwide markets and exchanges with tens of millions being bet on every match have got these prices so wrong. Colombia were awful in the groups, got lucky to beat Senegal, lost to Japan and beat a woeful Poland. And their best player is injured.

As with all WC matches, the prices were probably about right, with between 1 and 5% edge to the bookies.

When are they going to start booking players for play-acting?

The annoying thing is that it would be so easy to eradicate. Just send them off first time they do it. The authorities just don't have the will to do it. They book players for removing their shirt though.

 

Afternoon Tikay. I don't think it's easy to eradicate at all. How do you judge at the time, or indeed in retrospect whether someone is faking an injury? Sure there are some clear ones where man grabs his face having been shoved in the back, but there'll be ludicrous numbers of grey areas.

Neymar gets taken out, falls to the ground, rolls once - couldn't help it. Twice, ok....three times...excessive.....four times - yellow! Would be a nightmare for the officials. I wish something could be done though, same as everyone does.

Wasn't that South Korea goal enough to persuade the luddites?   In past World cups that goal would have been disallowed and it is a lot less likely that the second would follow.   South Korea would likely have gone home without that great victory against Germany on their resume.  Sure it doesn't make a difference to the rest of the tournament, but it sure mattered to them.

The incident itself is surely enough of an argument to persuade the luddites. <3 VAR.

The sentimental knock-on effect is irrelevant though. It could've been the other way around and VAR denies Korea that joy.

I took a look at the penalty markets on bet365 out of interest. I don't know what they were before but you can get 7/4 on a penalty being awarded in each of the upcoming games. i think there's been 12 in the 20 game sample so far. I assume the prices post-VAR have adjusted though.

Also think it adds to the drama - that suspense when the ref is reviewing...loving it!
