I fancy going back to vegas after ten years so played a $22 sat into a 109 on Tuesday night and managed to snag a ticket.

For some reason the ticket  was only valid for one day ? Is that right?

If we are 4 handed we can't fold really although calling off 20x Bb with aj is rarely going to be a great situation for us, player dependant of course

What are the reasons for not betting flop Kingpush? I would bet flop , check turn. Fold to all in as played.

I went cold turkey. the first week was pretty tough but it got a lot easier after that. I stopped for 5 years but managed to start again a couple of years ago. Need to knock it on the head again soon, at £10 a pack near enough it's getting silly! Kerry gave up using champ nix which worked but she was really really moody and irrational (even more than usual😀) it was no fun .

I think turn bet size is fine. What hands do you expect to get value from here? You say he checks behind most of his range but he would probably fold that range to a jam so why not check and let him bluff or turn a weak showdown hand into a bluff?

If the restaurant is on the seafront I like " smoke on the water" . There is a place called smoke shack just opened near me which sounds similar to what you are going to do , I will check it out in January and let you know what it's like.

Merry Xmas

There is no doubt that running a restaurant bar is really tough. The level of consistency and quality you have to show to deliver and grow a hospitality business is very high. The market is highly competitive and your competitors are generally very good at what they do these days. Customer expectations are 100 times higher than they were even 5 years ago. You need to be (or pay someone to be) an expert in everything from recruitment, customer service , health and safety , food safety ,marketing ,  social media ,the list goes on for ever.......

To say there is no money in it is not true tho there are plenty of people making good money , both as investors and operators.

It's pretty much like poker; to win you have to play the game better than everyone else.

How can someone not make money from selling drink at £4 a pint?

Most of it goes to the government.

Pads, I have never heard of the deposit thing. Perhaps he just wants to make sure you are serious?
I run a (successful)pub at the moment , feel free to shout if you want any advice.
