I Have been a subscriber to cardplayer for over a year now and its well worth it - it was $99 for the year when i bought but you always get offers on the website. Mind you you can always just read it on the website. I think it is a brilliant tool to improve your understanding of the game and it has a lot of colums from some of the best players in the world. I reccommend this magazine highly - clearly the best in the world by a mile - I read poker europa once at a cardroom and it just seemed to lift all of cardplayers articles. Again great mag Buy it

I am going to  start playing omaha can anyone recommend good references for this form of poker? I don't even know what constitutes a good starting hand so nothing too high brow just yet. ( lets start with omaha high)

thanks in advance

Doubt you would know me from Luton I play there pretty infrequently althought i have played in the Mon night shootout for the last 2 weeks. I did manage a 5th in my 1st live tourney there which was a £10 rebuy beginners night (begginers my arse the guy who won had been to the wsop 2004) Girlfriend wasnt best chuffed having to wait around till 1.30 am after she busted out at about 10!!

I went to equal chance a few weeks back on a monday and played in the £10 rebuy. The club itself is quite nice , a few laptops for net access , a couple of pool tables , sky sports then a seperate card area. Beer and food available which looked quite nice.  Two dealer tables which started spreading cash games once the tourney had lost a few, that night was PLH £0.50/£1 and £1/2 , both dealer dealt , the lower one charged an hourly rate and the bigger game took a rake. The starting chips for the tournament were 500 and blinds started a t 25/25 ( i think) 30 min clock but we were soon into crapshoot teritory even tho i was on a fairly sensible table. A lot of young players here early 18 - 25 a good atmosphere and a decent game even tho i would rather play a £50 freezeout as i dont like rebuy tournies . Well worth a look. If you go down take a passport or driving licence as they require you to join.
