1141  Poker Forums / The Rail / G Casino Luton 3pm Tourney. Quick question. on: June 16, 2012, 12:39:12 PM
Does anybody know if this is dealer dealt? Used to be but buy-in has been halved so I have my doubts that it is. No one in poker room till 1400 and i need to leave at 1300hrs but i'm too lazy to go to a self dealt tourney.

LOL - the guy at 3rd base nearly fluffed it on the final play.
Nearly but produced an excellent throw to save the perfect game.

The report I saw on that "Perfect Game", as most American sports writing seems to, blew conventional English phraseology out of the water. I rather like it actually, the more I read it, the more I want to see.

Did you know that the chap was a righty?

Not political I assume. He could equally have been a lefty, I suppose.  Or the winningmost. Driving his motorcar down the straightaway
"No-hitters"? Ten a penny, it seems.

Matt Cain has such good stuff that it seemed like it was only a matter of time until he put his first no-hitter under his belt. But the big righty did all our expectations one better on a memorable and cool  Wednesday night at AT&T Park, throwing a perfect game against the Houston Astros in a 10-0 win. It was the second perfect game thrown this season, the 22nd in history and incredibly only the first in the 128-year history of the Giants franchise.

Any perfect game fits the definition of dominant, but Cain's effort will allow him to enter a rarefied air among perfect game pitchers. His 14 strikeouts on the night gave him a game score of 101 as well as a share of the record for most strikeouts in a perfect game. The pitcher he tied for that record? Just a Los Angeles Dodger by the name of Sandy Koufax, who struck out 14 Chicago Cubs in 1965.

As is usually the case, Cain wouldn't have made history were it not for some great defense. Melky Cabrera started the heroics with a warning track grab of a Chris Snyder blast in the sixth inning, Gregor Blanco turned in the defensive play of the year after running down Jordan Schaefer's gap-seeking drive in the seventh (below) and Joaquin Arias gobbled up Jason Castro's tricky grounder to third for the 27th and final out.

We're still a few weeks away from the All-Star break and we've already seen five no-hitters this season. Cain joins fellow perfect game pitcher Philip Humber as well as Jered Weaver, Johan Santana and the six Seattle Mariners pitchers who combined for a no-hitter last Friday. The record for most no-hitters in a season is seven, which was reached in both 1990 and 1991.

Here's the above in moving pictures- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsqZd1Zx3x0

Not sure if any of you noticed, but last night a chap - a Giant I believe - pitched a "perfect game" in Baseball.

I gather this is pretty rare. Not sure if there are other sports where something so rare happens? The report said it was "the 22nd perfect game" (I assumed in MLB), which, if true, given how much Baseball is played, must be quite something.

The photo is not from last night, but note the crowd all taking photos of the scorebaord.

"....I was there....." sort of thing I guess.

Must be almost worth a Tighty bell graph.

It is indeed a rare thing seeing as each team plays 162 games in the regular baseball season- See here for definition- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_game

Is that Mohican from next door? Welcome aboard Carl, good to see you here!

Are you a Baseball freak?
Tis I from next door. Been loitering with no intent for a while. I follow the Boston Red Sox but I'm only a casual fan. I like watching it but don't get that much time to watch it. Tend to go on a bit Baseball games.

1146  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Poll: DTD Payout Structures. Your votes please on: June 13, 2012, 12:10:09 PM
Could you consider changing the poll?  I am for flattening the structure at the top, but that is only to flatten payouts at or near the final table.  I am very much against changing the min cash.  Upping the min cash will just increase the painful stalling phase of tournaments.
This makes most sense to me but what do I know? Only ever see final tables on live streams/tellybox thingy.

I played the Grand Prix VI at the end of April. I'm a low stakes social player and I can afford to buy-in to tourneys like this every now and again(£55). It gave me the chance to play in a bigger prize pool tourney than I'd normally be able to with out having to try to satellite in. This is the value in tourneys like this for me. I'm happy having the one bullet but I like the fact others have the opportunity to stick more money in the prizepool. The fact I only have one bullet doesn't influence my play and hopefully I'll be on the receiving end of some looser/spewy play and pick up chips. I like the re-entry concept and hope that more of these are run.

All your questions make you sound like an excited puppy bouncing around waiting to be taken for a walk. It's great to hear someone looking forward to a comp so much.
He's not the only one. Suffolk is a bit barren when it comes to a decent casino.

Just bought in for this. Really looking forward to playing this.

Ian's progress the tournament is one I've followed closely (along with Dave (Solarcarro) thompson and Don Campbells)the whole way and one that has been truly inspirational to me.
I've been saying for a while that I wanted to try to gain entry to a big tourney but never really put any sort of effort into doing it. The MacMonster effect(similar to the moneymaker effect but for Brits) has already got me into looking at the various ways I can qualify for a big tourney.
Gd luck to Ian, enjoy the FT and T.I.D.

David Hudson was knocked out by Ian Senior. JJ vs KK and Ian flopped a K.
