to win at mtts just play tight and let people spew and understand shove/fold situations.

I mean this in the nicest possible way but these could only be the words of someone running very hot.

Having sportsbetting and casino games on the site could make the games softer, of course.

I would fold the river as played but think the lead is pretty bad. He's much more likely than you to have the bd flush and will try to rep it some of the time, and the fact that you don't have it very often also means he'll feel free to vbet thin, i.e. some worse hands than you.

Yerp I'm making it at least 500 and can see myself going bigger in this lolfest. As has been said, villains are going to be quite inelastic to sizing so go ahead and bet big, it won't decrease your chances of picking up calls significantly. River play is standard, he has worse here <1% of the time imo

My image should be fairly straightforward, shown down a bunch of good hands, can't say much about villains' image as I've been on 10+ tables, haven't seen him get out of line

Amaya is a much smaller company. They're only putting up a small amount of money for this sale, getting big loans secured on Rational Group for most of the rest, and releasing $500M in new shares. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Scheinberg et al are the ones buying those shares.

From the amaya groups' website:

'Rational Group’s executive management team will be retained and online poker services provided by PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker will be unaffected by the Transaction, with players continuing to enjoy uninterrupted access to their gaming experience.'

Reassuring.

Rewatching season 1 at the same time as this season. Pretty funny stuff. Formulaicness on a par with house. Doesnt stop it being great fun. Loved seeing my old bridge (kentish town) in this last episode. They were always gonna get camden in for the tourists.

If you're never getting accused of angle-shooting by a live player you're missing some spots

What do people here think about intentional misclicks?

Stealthmunk argues that it's correct to intentional misclick very occasionally to protect your actual misclicks.

What do you guys think the SB's range looks like to call flop/jam this turn? In game i felt it would be pretty strong and that KK was probably behind. But then again i have the so dunno!

Even if you are 'probably' behind we're getting the right price to draw if his range includes a bunch of hands like AK/AQ/AJ/AT/KJ/TJ/QJ with one diamond.

I like checking to snap a jam from BB and consider folding if BTN isolates.
41  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: What I think is an extremely complex decision on: June 09, 2014, 05:35:52 PM
how i think with the variance being smaller here is by being 'outside the game' this one spot may have only a 5% edge so its a high variance play but if you sustain a long term positive roi your outside game variance is smaller so thinner spots become more profitable? if that even makes sense

It's a common misconception that variance decreases when you have a higher winrate. While variance and winrates are both a function of playing style, they don't directly affect one another. One source of profit for a winning poker player is taking on variance that others aren't willing to - in a sense, offering insurance, i.e. if someone wants to fold when they're getting the right price to call (all-in) but folds to decrease variance, you get an increase in EV. Or in other terms - a professional gambler provides an entertainment service to the amateur.

While it might seem that increasing your winrate decreases variance, this is only due to a misunderstanding of what variance means. People usually measure variance by how bad they run, not how good they run. So a stronger winning player (disregarding playing style) will have smaller downswings than a breakeven or losing player, but will have bigger upswings - positive variance.

My first reaction is to say 'yuh they just always have it here' but then it being a random makes me wonder if they have 8x in their range that they're turning into a bluff or could be value-betting KJ with this sizing. Still fold though.
43  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: BB implied i'd shot an angle, live players thoughts please...... on: June 08, 2014, 12:58:26 PM
Not an angle-shoot but against the rules AND bad etiquette to openly ask a fella what he's planning on doing and then openly change your decision based on it.
44  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: 250 deepie online. 2 turn spots on: June 08, 2014, 12:55:50 PM
Lots of different reasons to check or bet hand 1, both should be fine. Wouldn't expect to be c/red very often if I did bet, if I did it would be because of a pre-existing aggressive dynamic in which case I'm unlikely to be folding.

Hand 2 I think I might fold.
45  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: My largest buy in tournament - out nearly dead last. on: June 08, 2014, 12:51:29 PM
I like 3betting pre and flatting the flop. We don't have much of a bluff-range on this board and sets are fairly unlikely to bet/3b all-in
