It's not the worst play, especially if you've been raising a lot and he knows you can laydown a hand.

Wait, there's more...

1. In order to qualify for the above bonus’ you must play at 9-seat single tournament tables of $1 or higher. Tables can be Normal, Speed or Turbo.

Payout Structure

1. For claims containing tables with a buy in from and including $1.00 up to and including $5.00 – 25% of the total bonus payout will be applied.
2. For claims containing tables with a buy in of greater than $5.00 and up to and including $15.00 – 50% of the total bonus payout will be applied.
3. For claims containing tables with a buy in of greater than $15.00 - 100% of the total bonus payout will be applied.
4. All tables with a buy in of less than $1 are excluded from this promotion
5. If there is mixtures of table buy in within any prize claim – the lower percentage will be applicable.

There more in the T+Cs but nothing very exciting...

Win 3 consecutive STT’s in a row and receive a $20 Bonus
Win 4 consecutive STT’s in a row and receive a $200 Bonus
Win 5 consecutive STT’s in a row and receive a $2,000 bonus
Place 1st or 2nd in 5 consecutive STT’s and receive $100

Copied and pasted. Min $1 tables

It says 'normal, speed or turbo' no mention of extended. Perhaps they are not included.

I can't push on the button, because the chancer will call me with such a wide range.

My problem is that is easier for the big stack to call me than it is for me to call when the other shorty pushes on my big blind. Even if I push every time the button passes I'm still going backwards because I'm getting beaten to it about half the time.

My best chance I think is just to start pushing when the button passes. If I'm lucky this might buy me some time and perhaps the other guy will run into a hand before I do.

If there was just one prize or it was a normal tournament then I would have been pushing more often. I didn't adjust to the peculiar dynamics of the situation and despite the fact that I didn't get any cards I feel that I could have given myself a better chance.

The big stack had between 35 and 40k

Myself and the other shorty had between 9k and 18k at various times.

I think we were at 600/1200 for most of time.

I passed a pair of fives early on in proceedings before I realised what his game was, after that I was never dealt anything that was ahead of even a random hand. I did manage to double up thru the chipleader once when I pushed desperately with Q5 against his AJ.

I think maybe I should have been pushing more often, if not every time, when the chancer passed on the button.

I'm sure I got my strategy wrong here but I can't work out what I should have been doing to maximise my chances of a seat.

We are down to the last 3 of a satellite on Blue Square. There are 2 seats on offer and a nominal cash prize for 3rd which does not cover my re-buys. There is one big stack directly to my left and I am one of two shorter stacks. The big stack is content to let us fight it out and fold into a seat, he raises infrequently and passes twice to re-raises from the other shortie. The other shortstack is raising all-in on from the small blind every time, and frequently from the button. He is willing to call my all-ins with king high, he called an all-in re-raise from me with KJ and doubled me up, at this point perhaps I should have put more pressure on him, later he knocks me out when he calls my all-in with K9, hitting his 9 to beat my 55. It doesn't help that I am card dead, but I am sure that I could have played this better.

I played very passively and was essentially waiting for the other fella to walk into a hand. There must be a better way of dealing with this situation does anyone have any thoughts?

Pab, you were watching, what do you think?

Once upon a time in a previous life, I was working as a kitchen porter at a very posh reatuarant in Leeds. It was a quiet night and the head chef, Chris, was messing about with a big fork of the type used when carving roast meat. He was flipping it up over and over, very quickly, displaying an impressive degree of dexterity. As impressed as I was by this I could not help mentioning that the feat would be even more impressive if performed with the big f*** off knife that was lying on the chopping board. Not one to shirk a challenge Chris picked up the knife and flipped it up. Of course the weight and balance of the knife was significantly different to the fork, it landed blade down square across his palm. The blood drained from Chris's face, travelled down through his arm and distributed itself evenly all over the kitchen.

Chris came it work a couple of days later to help the sous chef get organised for what would be a prolonged period in charge of the kitchen. He had spent several hours in surgery having ligaments stiched together. He was sporting a very elaborate brace type arrangement, with strings running from the tip of each finger to a tight wristband, in a way designed to prevent him from opening his hand beyond a kind of semi-clench.

Chris eventually made a full recovery and life took us in different directions. He was a diamond bloke and I still feel guilty when I remember the words; 'I bet you wouldn't do it with that.'
