With reference to the DC event having 19 games, I've just noticed there is a mini FTOPS event that's a 25 game mix!

Not gone well. Unraised pot in sb, Flopped 2 pair fd and a poor low draw vs BB flopped wheel.  GG.  Could of passed river on another day, or every other day for that matter.  Levelled myself into the old 'he's in the bb he can't have it'. Schoolboy error I should know better!

Just jumped in FTOPS #6 plo8.

Didn't get to play the horse, disappointed about that really I like horse comps.  Got myself in in time, shipped some $$ over from my stars account, (I had downloaded FT and synced a while ago but never got going on there).  I opened FT and waited for the update to install.  And waited, and waited. 40 minutes later it failed, tried again and failed again.  Got irritated by the wife looking over and asking "Thought you were playing from 7:30? What you doing?"  Ended up having to completely uninstall and reinstall this missing the 2 hour late reg by 10 minutes, sigh.

I've often thought of starting a diary, think I'd enjoy it tbh.  Might do soon, I've got a busyish couple of weeks work wise then a month or two spades lull before harvest so might get it going then.

Never played on FT, but just looked at the schedule and a nice HORSE event today to kick me off with I think!

yeah should have posted it the other way with TT and see how many would have called the river. It doesn't matter anyway, I'm just posting some fun hands Smiley

Sure lots of stuff I do it awful! But r/c or r/f 88 on this flop would not be good.

I don't have that many hands that flat call here, I'm perceived to be 3betitng a depolarised range out of position vs HSMTT regs, meaning I'm 3betting suited broadways/ak/aq 99+ here, my perceived range here is VERY pair heavy, to just expect me to have a "random bluff" when I flat the sb here would be very ambitious.

I'm interested to know what you do with 88+ vs your flop lead here.  I agree it's putting villain in a really tough spot, if r/c or r/f is bad then what is call call fold or call flop fold turn.  I still think call call fold like villain did is the worst.

Well then you'd have owned me Smiley

Ahhh but would you play the hand that way vs Ugotnuts?
Gotta choose your opponent wisely.

Congratulations on topping the European charts Pads.

One thing I always try to be aware of is if my opponent is actually capable of working out what your representing when running a bluff.  A player has to be good enough to fold, but not good enough to call! If that makes sense?!

I like to think I can generally apply a decent thought process to most hands, but I have to admit the depth of Patrick's thinking in some hands does blow my mind, it's fascinating, and great to learn from.

Haven't had time to look at them all but seeing the discussion I looked at this one, tbh I think ugotnuts has a point in that you could of just got Ace high to fold here, any 88-AA hand here has played very bad imo, yeah a flat on flop maybe but on the turn its either shove or fold, probably a fold as all your pair/gutshot combos get there.  Calling your bet here on one of the worst turn cards is just plain bad by opponent imo.  Once he flats turn though I think your right to jam any river.

Fwiw I don't let you see a free turn either, probably a big 3bet tbh as once I've raised in not folding any turn given stack size.  Thoughts on an over bet shove from villain on flop in this spot?

Wouldn't mind seeing a few more plo pots tbh.

Hand 2 for me I don't mind the open pre (although I have no doubt that Dave knows best!) I guess when you don't get raised on flop then yeah give it three barrels, river card sucks, you got set blockers but don't think you fold out bottom set.  Makes me wonder what villain was calling with tbh, I'm certainly not calling 2 streets to fold when I make a boat on river. Only leaves him KQxx I suppose. Wp

Hand 4 as you said the icm implications are big, I think it's the only reason you get away with it really.

Hand 5 yeah spewy as chuff imo, but well picked up on his bad sizing.  Always nice when they tell you they haven't got what they're trying to tell you they have!

Fwiw I think £100+20 for the ukipt mini is ridiculous.  Regardless of what the standard juice is anywhere else in the world, 20% is taking the piss imo.  Big Guarentee or not.

Yet is there to be a day when I refuse a meal!

3 and 4 don't qualify in my eyes, not getting stressed is a good trait to have in my opinion, and certainly helps when combatting tilt.
The money thing sort of ties into motivation, I think to play cash poker properly you have to be able to disassociate yourself with the value of money, but I imagine that a fair few of the players on the live world circuit are motivated by titles more than money.
I think you do need some sort of motivation to play and improve though.  Anyone can play for fun but you have to want to improve to get better.

"I am just not very good" - made me chuckle - I just read your busto story from ukipt mini, sounds to me that you have a good idea of what's right to do or not but you just like a gamble.  Find something to motivate you in the game and that will stop without you even noticing.

So I decided to play some MTT on stars with one 6 max 50/1 PLO game to keep me ticking over last night. Busted the big 109,22 and the hot 11 and 16, but managed to run deep in the Big 11 which I eventually cashed for $60 coming in 102 so down around $120 on the MTT front, but being up around six buy in the PLO I managed to post a winning session.

Had a situation come up on stars last night, which I'm not sure if this should be allowed. I has above average in chips in the Big 11, already enjoying a deep run in the cash, when I'm booted off the site. I receive an email asking for ID. Now this isn't an issue as I have my old passport scans on the PC, and I sent them across. However because of this interruption it most likely cost me a final table appearance. Should they be allowed to do this? Why don't they wait for you to finish the tournament and just not let you cash out until the ID has been provided?

I was so pissed of... haven't felt like that in a long while....

That can't be right surely?

Afraid so .. got back on tonight.....

That's awful from stars, never heard of it happening before.

I know exactly how you feel when it comes to balancing a family life with work and poker, it's impossible to put in the amount of time to each that you need to.  I'm lucky in the family and work fronts, in that I'm self employed so depending on the time of year I can be really flexible with my working hours, just a couple of 6-8 week spells when I get next to zero poker in.  On the family front I couldn't ask much more from the wife, as long as I put aside at least a day to take them out once every couple of weeks I do pretty much whatever I want poker wise, even got a pass out to Vegas with a poker friend of mine. As long as the hallway is wallpapered and the caravan is sited for the year so she can bugger off with the kids when I'm busy at harvest Smiley

Don't know about you (or anyone else) but the worst thing about live poker for me is the travelling, I live away from any cities, 50mins from nearest casino, 80mins dtd, I get home, have tea, wash change see kids for a bit, walk out the door and look at the car and think 'I sit behind a wheel all day, I really can't be arsed with the drive' decent local cash games have dried up, the Internet is getting more and more appealing.  I've even taken to offering mates the buyin for 10% action in whatever bowl comp is on if they drive if I want to go play cash, buts that's not so good for the expenses column!
