Dan played really well yesterday and if he keeps that up he will cruise this barring any bad beats. It was a very interesting experience in my first decent live tournament for about a year. For the first day and a half it just seemed like nothing had changed and I found it very comfortable and easy to build a stack once I got going.
That all changed when I moved to the table of death sat with Dan to my left and Jake & George to my right all with decent stacks. I have to admit my rustiness showed pretty bad and I was owned all day by Dan. I think I was even with Jake until I reraised him light from the sb and he turns up with Kings. Dan spotted something that I would normally have seen myself in that position when I am playing a bit more regularly and if I dont lose that pot I am probably not even in the pot in which I bust a short while later.
Coventry is a not my favourite town to be in but the casino is a great venue for poker.
Good luck to Dan and Joe today.

If you are using a bankroll management plan that means you only have a certain % of your bankroll at risk in anyone game then you should leave a table if you are winning enough to make that stack over your normal requirements. This only applies though if there are players at the table that cover you.
You have to employ some sens with your bankroll management strategy if you are using this system. There is no point having a 20 buy in roll and limiting yourself to 5% max at risk as every time you get above 1 buy in at a table you are then breaking your rules. A better system is to have max buy in % and also a max risk %. When I was playing full time I had 50 buy ins with a max risk % of 5% which meant I could book a 2 1/2 buy in win before leaving the table or I could take a shot at a higher level but leave when I doubled up.
I think the general concensus nowadays if you bankroll is non replenishable by other means then 20 buyins is not really enough anyway.
The scorn on short stackers is ridiculous. There are many reasons to short stack and if done correctly it can be a profitable way to play. The truth is most of them don't know how to play it properly and are easy money and should be welcomed into the game with open arms. The ones that know how to play are also easily spotted and dealt with by a decent player.

It was All In Preflop whihc makes a difference as to whether the board should be reconstructed. As the cards dealt on the board did not affect the betting an attempt must be made to correct the error if possible.
I have read a few different accounts of this and all seem to be slightly different. I was actually called to make a ruling but was in a hand at the time so could not.
I am pretty sure that the muck and deck had not been mixed by the dealer. Neill was able to determine with 100% accuracy which card should have been the river.
There are a lot of minor differences to all the stories recounted that make a difference on what ruling is to be made.
At the end of the day Neill made a ruling which although may not have been 100% correct it did result in the correct river card.
I would have made the following rulings dependaing on all the information at my disposal, in either case the card which is 100% identifiable as the correct river is placed faced down in the river position:
1: If the two burn cards were 100% Identifiable then I would have had them and the board cards shuffled together and the board redealt with the correct burning actions.
2: If the two burn cards have been mixed with the deck stub then the deck stub & board cards is reshuffled and the board dealt in the correct manner.
3: If the muck has been mixed with the stub and burn cards then the dealt board stays as it is.
Tough one, this is why a uniform set of rules is required. Probably not possible in the UK due to all the different major players but we are working towards thsi in Ireland.
